- Tim Tønnessen was one of the three steadicam operators at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. The steadicam operator gets closest to the artists as he is the only cameraman allowed on stage during the shows. Tim has worked with many Eurovision events and showed us what his job entails.

Does anyone realise Eurovision wouldn’t be eurovision without the steadicam? This is literally 50% of Eurovision shots

Yeah, it's called a Whip Pan. Very tricky to do, but you get used to it.

TO THE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE STEADICAM DURING ESTONIA'S FINAL PERFORMANCE:
That wasn't the fault of the steady cameraman. The vision mixer controls which camera is active who is mostly in the production room. The vision mixer simply switched to the next camera too late. THIS steadicam guy did a great job tho!!

Although they cut automatically so yes the responsibility is on the vision mixer but there can be more complicated things happening

Steadicam work on Eurovision is magic
The first time a steadycam was used in Eurovision was in 1990 in Zagreb, then Yugoslavia. Back then it was much heavier and had to be carried around by two guys. Added a whole new magic to the show. It was the best directed Eurovision to date.
I love steadicams. Thats why I love Eurovision. Singers are part of the show but I trully love steadicams. ❤

Slovenia 2019 on replay, replay, replay
It's amazing how visual aesthetics have changed. 1997, I believe, must have been the last Eurovision without any steadycam shots whatsoever. And I wish they would use them more sparingly yet more effectively.

He didn't laugh because of that, he laughed because he did a very hard movement with the camera, called the Whip Pan, and it worked well, so he went laughing

sadly luxembourg will not participate even with opened petition because their tv-channel is not interested, kosovo didn't get membership
the guys from Kazakhstan would do everything to sing with us in the adult ESC ........forget boring Luxembourg .....we should all focus and support countries that want to participate ♥.
Turkey and Bulgaria are the only options left
Other very unlikely options are Monaco and Moroco
Also please,Kazakhstan in 2020,unlike Israel and Cyprus and Australia a part of Kazakhstan is in Europe,so they should participate
