- I'm sharing how I select and alter trash to make journal cards, papers and tags to stuff in pockets and tuck spots.
Pieces like sales cards and flyers, note cards or postcards, junk mail, etc. all make a great foundation for junk journal ephemera.

I have the most fun making things when my supplies are trash or things I find on my walks!
Yep, true trash is so much fun. Gathering too! Thanks for watching.
I never came across the idea of sanding off the writing before. So thank you for this wonderful tip!
You are so welcome! I’m glad you have another tool in the toolbox! Happy crafting.
This is the first of your videos I have seen. I am now a fan ! Thank you for the great ideas.
My pleasure Rebecca - thanks for watching!
I love the sanding to make junk mail more usable. This is my kind of journaling. I look forward to backtracking this series. 💜🐞
Trashy journals are the best! Thanks for watching Ila. I hope you get some inspiration from this series.
I,love the textures and effects you’ve gotten by sanding the surface of the paper
Thanks Kym - sanding works so well for me!
Wonderful use for all of the “trash” items! I love your techniques, Kathleen, for changing/camouflaging the original items! Great video!! 😀💞
Thanks so much Keryn!
CZcams just popped this up. 😂 I had no idea you did this 2 years ago. Here I am sanding off my junk mail and you’ve been in my head. I loved watching this. You inspired me even in my sleep. 😃
We think alike Sandy! Haha, I thought the same thing when I saw you crochet the edges of your journal cards…we think alike. It’s wonderful. Have you tried the acetone? I’m glad the TUBE has brought us together.
@@BeAgainBooks I haven’t tried it yet. Need to steal it from Big Daddy’s garage when he paints that ‘31 Ford. Shhh 🤫 don’t tell.
Great ideas Kathleen! I'm going to raid my husband's tool box for some sand paper, lol!
Haha - yes! I hope you'll try it. Thanks for watching!
Me too !

Leslie said it all!
Thanks Sheri. I’m glad this was helpful.
Such great ideas!! I really enjoy watching you craft, I'm always learning something new. Can't wait to see your finished book!! Hugs " L
Thanks so much Leslie!
I think the sanding would make the adhesive stick better. Love this idea.😊
Yes, you are right! Sanding will create a “tooth” in the paper for the adhesive to grab. Thanks so much for watching.
Yes, very useful! Thanks again for excellent ideas!
Thank you Carolyn! I’m so glad you think so! Thanks for all your watchtime!
Have to try sanding stuff now!! Thanks for the great video
I hope you will Robyn! Thanks for watching.

My pleasure Lisa! Thanks for watching!
Wonderfully inspiring video! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it Christine! Thanks for watching.
I have not thought of sanding the print off. I have just been covering up. I am now watching the flap thru on my TV.
@@gigihomestead2927 I’m so glad to give you a new idea! Thanks for stopping by!
0:00 I'm new to your channel. I enjoyed your vid very much. The sandpaper use was new to me.... I will be using it. Believe me. What grid sandpaper do you use? I would think the grid matters, no? Something I'd like to mention. You used only part of a sticker or washi tape, then, cut off the "overflo". Looked like you tossed it. A couple, one, was washi tape, another, the label, I thought could still be used. The backing had been removed, so, just attach to paper (of your choice for backing). Voila! No waste! Of course, the smaller ones, you'd toss. But, those couple, I thought, were salvageable. I noticed this, watching you. I always just toss, thinking, well, the back is off, and it's sticky. So, has got to be tossed. Wrong, kemosabe! 😆🤣... Thank you. I learned two, valuable tips from you today. And, I had fun, which was even more important! Love and Peace. 🌹💕✌️☺️
*I'm back. I started reading the replies, once I finished mine. It was then, I realized that this is about three years old! O Doamne! (Loosely translated, Romanian, for Holy Moly!!) I'm sorry for bringing this up, again. Three yrs, can you believe? O DOAM.... (Although, I must admit that I'm glad I stumbled upon it! Daddy always said, Learning is a good thing.) And, I just realized... I didn't start this video, rolling, again. Resurfacing. Someone else did. I just happened upon it, AFTERWARD! And, moved it along,🥴 again! 😳🌹...Lucky, for many, new to junk journaling! 🥴😏🤗✌️
Welcome! I’m glad you are here. Thanks for watching so closely! 😁
When you said the book of knowledge, I thought you were going to say the Book Of Mormon. Lol 😆
Hahaha! 😄 you're not far off.
Hi Kathleen~I've started going thru a lot of your past videos~they are so good. Question: Do you do a master board for each journal. I have never done one for a journal~but I notice that I stray a lot from the main colors I have in my mind. I would think that a master board~would help that not to happen. I'm doing a journal for my youngest daughter and her favorite colors are deep red, blue, and black....and I need something to help me stay within those colors. Thank you for your response. Blessings....
No, I don’t do one for every journal. Often I have a clear “theme” in mind and that keeps me on track, haha. I usually do a mood board when a journal is more conceptual - more of a feeling like “spring” or “rural 30’s kind of depression era” kind of thing, or “dark forest” or “rainy”. It’s kind of hard to explain, haha. I do think it will help you stick with the “picture” you have in your mind, right? That’s when I would use it. Good luck with your project!
@@BeAgainBooks Thank You for getting back to me! I am an eclectic person…my house is shabby chic/victorian/country/with a touch of modern. Haha!!! I guess that’s what my daughter’s journal is starting to look like. Maybe I need a sign in front of my workspace to remind me to ‘stay on course’…..whatever that is. Ha! Have a wonderful weekend.❤️
