I was able to do it without "third hand" by taping all the cables out of the way. I also didn't need to disconnect the connector. I grabbed the battery with left hand and while pulling it out, I pushed out whatever was on the way. (it may require some grip strength).
    Thank you for the instructions!

I have a 2018 Bonneville T120 and just wanted to mention to folks that the Torx bit is a T30 on the T120 model - hope that saves you a little hunting. The procedure for removal is exactly the same - great video with clear steps!

Just want to add that my T120 is identical. The key to this video is how to get the connector at the top of the electronic control unit apart. Thanks to you and your helper with that critical bit of information. By the way, I used an old plastic prescription bottle to cover the positive leads at that terminal.

Excellent explanation, and timely, too, since I need to replace the original battery on my 2016 T120. I smiled when you warned not to drop the screw; I did that on my former Triumph (T140D), heard it drop, and never found it again. The must love to hide from us.

Just to say I had to do this job on my own. To get around the second pair of hands I used 2 angle brackets bolted onto the battery terminals and put plastic tie straps between them to make a handle so I can pull it out with one hand and use the other one to keep things clear. Oh I also put a bit of heat shrink over the connections to prevent shorting. Good video and it helped me. 👍

    Hi,
This video was really useful and I couldn’t have got the battery off my bike without it.
I used a set of Mole grips clamped on one of the battery terminals to gently lift the battery out once all the leads were out of the way.
I only had one set of hands and found it impossible to lift it on my own.
Thank you for posting this video.

Great video - clear instructions, excellent production quality, and as always the wife's input was needed. BTW, I used a large pair of channel locks to pull the battery out. Wife not needed. 😷

Very useful video, changed my battery without too much trouble. Everything very tight without much slack in the wiring - everything has to go just so. Really a two handed job, not impossible to do on your own but better with help.

Thanks this saved me a lot of time. The batteries on these models, and certainly the 2018, dont last very long at all.

Thanks for the video. Yes, as others have pointed out, not the easiest battery to swap out. What's worse, I installed my new battery and it was dead.......then I looked inside the box that was delivered....the electrolytes!!!
If you ordered your battery and had it delivered, don't do what I did and go full on install assuming that the acid is already INSIDE the battery like it is when you buy a replacement battery at Kragen.
    Lesson learned.

Great video and replaced by 2017 T120 solo!! Extra pair of hands would be handly but definatly doable with 2 hands. 2 x tips the 2017 takes a YTX12-BSY size battery (I bought Yuasa). The nubs at Battery World sold me the X9 and I had to return and swap mid-way thru the change. Also if in Australia or similar, you're unlikey to have grip warmers etc.. so don't be surprised when placing all back inc. USB ports etc.. there is a spare cable port near the ECU. Drove me crazy until I worked out is was for extra features......

Australia is a big country. I live in Southern Tableland NSW Goulburn. I could not exist without grip warmers. We get rain, hail, sleet and snow.

Kind of a pain in the @ss if you ask me, at least compared with the easy pop-in/pop-out batteries of some of my other bikes. Excellent video demonstration.

You can use a small piece of electrical tape to cover the leads while you work instead of paper

Great explanation. Saw one for a t120 which is my bike but the guy had an Indian accent and couldn't make out a word he was saying. On top of that he did nothing but explain and never actually removed the battery. Lol.

Just replaced my battery with a lithium one. Everything was working fine before. The old battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore. But would at least click and had enough to power the head light. I put in the new battery and now there is no power.
Can anyone help please? I don't know what's going on. Seems like it should've been a straight forward swap. Is there something else I was supposed to do?
