HOW MUCH POWER DID OR DIDN'T MY RACINGLINE STAGE 2 MK7 GOLF R MAKE !!

- Back in August I finally got round to getting my Stage 2 Mk7 Golf R on the rollers at Surrey Rolling Road. When it was Standard it made 315bhp. At Stage 1 it made 363bhp. I had a Forge Intercooler fitted, a Scorpion Sports Cat and some APR Coil Packs, bought from Awesome GTI. The car already has a Racingline R600 Intake kit with all the pipes, as well as a custom valved Powerflow rear box.
On the rollers it only made 366.9 bhp. So basically 3.6bhp more. I was not happy!!
The torque had gone up from 375ftlbs to 405ftlbs, so not a bad increase there.
After having a new flash from Racingline. The power has gone up to 370.3bhp, so only up another 3.4bhp. The torque has gone up to 420ftlbs. Both BHP and torque are up significantly in the mid range, but still that top end power is being held back.
I have spoken to friends at Tuning Werkes, DH Automotive and Racingline, and the current thinking, is the exhaust may be restricting the flow and that top end power. Paul at Racingline made 390bhp on his car, with the same map. Although my custom backbox is an unknown, I don't think this is a concern. However the standard centre box is still in place. So a RES delete is is the the next thing I will try. Just a question of which one, as I don't want any drone. Maybe a trip up to Racingline for them to have a look themselves.
I am still keen to see what the potential is, of the Racingline Stage 2, and what 1/4 mile and 100 to 200kph my car can run. Only then will I consider changing things up with a bigger turbo.........Watch this space.

Personally mate, I think doing a res delete will make little to no difference and I would just try getting it mapped by someone else like QSTuning or MRC instead. Plus its always healthier to have a custom map done instead of a over-the-counter map because the custom is made specifically for your cars setup. Either way, Im curious and I hope you get what you want in the end. 👍
I get the custom route is best, and can produce more power. I have no issue chosing the Racingline route. They are good, tried and tested maps. For some reason I have an issue that needs sorting. A friend did suggest dropping the exhaust at the centre box (disconnect it just before it) and get I re-dynoed, before putting in a res delete. I will discuss with Racingline and document what I do next. 🎥😎
@@VeeDubRacingRes delete won't do nothing for power, purely for noise. Racingline isn't custom software, it's similar software to revo and Apr. You need a proper custom map from the likes of rtech
@@bradders1303 I will see what Racingline say in the new year. Something is holding back power. May be the map, but could be something else. I am getting 420ftlbs or 570Nm of torque, so it definitely pulls well.
@@VeeDubRacing any tuner can make torque, just crank the boost up. It's not making the bhp as expected. Proper custom map needed in my opinion from experience

My 7R made 380 bhp with a stage 1 map with full r600 intake. The map was done by Ben at Devil Developments. Definitely something not right there if this has a stage 2 map. Most stage 2 R's should be at least 390-400+. Hope you get to the bottom of it and share what was causing the issue.
Will definitely be recording it. 100% want 390bhp with the mods and map. Will be talking with Racingline in the New Year.

These figures are bringing back memories when these was first tuned. They have come along way since.. apr coilpacks. Make no difference.... custom backbox what have they filled the backbox with. Id be tempted to put std backbox on and redyno.
My backbox is good bro with valves open it bypasses the silencers and goes straight out. All avenues will be checked in the New Year

i reckon it's the map tbh....racingline from what i know are not as bigger figures compared to others. But it's all about how it drives mainly. Maybe like you've said in description, head up to racingline themselves to look into it further.
It drives brilliantly. I can't fault it. Racinglines car is making 390bhp on this map, so It could be my exhaust. Which is not an issue, I can change this and see what happens. But what Res delete do I choose 🤷♂️ or, other option is try another dyno, to see if the results are similar.
SRR dyno is spot on, when i had my car mapped and on dyno from a tuner, i took it after down to SRR as everyone says it's spot on. Yeah maybe change then the res, but yeah what do you go for....only issue is always got poss drone etc. will def keep a follow on your updates as im interested to know now @@VeeDubRacing

If I may, I have a MK7 R, Stage 1 MRC tuned with R600 intake and Turbo Technics intake pipe, made 390ps and 543Nm torque. Car is so good I’ve only now decided to go back for Stage 2 after 2 years of Stage 1

@@michael6125 Yeyh let us know pal jus had mine done at 117speed in Manchester av been before couple years back like and after watching that Morgan’s car on Jamie’s channel and msb s gti thought add go back for stage 2 r600 intake forge elbow pipe /miltek down pipe and puma sport intercooler it made 412 bhp I cant remember the torque now ha your stage one made really good figures sounds of it 👍🏻
@@nickhorne5493 412bhp is about right for these cars. Can’t see people getting much more than that to be honest. 117 speed done good as always. And I totally agree, I wasn’t expecting the figures I got because MRC stated in the quote to see figures of around 350-370 so I was well pleased

My stage 2 R estate made 405bhp mapped by Eurospec with a ram air intake, scorpion downpipe, turbo elbow etc. at first I had a straight through exhaust system (res and back back delete) but it got too much so I had the res put back in…
And that is what I don't want. I hear a lot about the res delete being too noisy. The car still needs to be enjoyable to drive.
No Intercooler?
Poor figures. Make sure you’ve got the upgraded turbo elbow on it, mine made 390bhp and 428ft/lb stage 2 with 95,000 miles on it
Yep, it has all the pipe work on there.
@@VeeDubRacing have you changed the cam magnets? Maybe they’re not controlling the cam properly hence no top end power
@@declanmceleney2263 I don't think that will be it. Only on 33k miles, and it drives and pulls very hard to the red line, with no issues.
Horse power ain't as important would be happy and enjoy the torque.

Defo not right … very odd. Should be in 380-410 range. Worth taking to those who do golf Rs on a daily. Like MRC / Ecotune Scotland / NV Motorsport

Apart from the top end not having the power, why do you think it needs changing ASAP?
@@VeeDubRacing I would change for piece of mind mate that everything is spot on and I have power etc I paid for,363 on stage 1 is really poor numbers stage 2 at 366 is shocking,depending on where you are based I would honestly find another tuner

Get a proper map, racingline are 💩
The aim from the start was never to hit big figures, just video the progress. I am just down on where I should be. Who knows in 2024 👀👀
@@VeeDubRacing res delete won't solve your issue. Their maps are too conservative and not custom. The car needs to be logged and mapped accordingly. If you want proper figures, get a decat, non res exhaust, intercooler and a proper air intake. My 7R was running insanely quick on a stock turbo with full stage 2.
