I feel like I was so incredibly young to appreciate Obama. I remember him announcing his run for president when I was back in 4th grade. Kinda wish I was an adult during his whole 8 years.
Even as a legal to drink 23 year old by time time he got into office, I was still too young and ignorant about politics to understand how much impact he would have. Even as a black guy. If I knew what I know now back then that presidency would be twice as good for me

US presidents may only serve 2 terms/8 years in office, the ammendment that established this was added after Franklin Delano Roosevelt was relected and died during his 4th term. Not sure the exact year but it happened after he died in 1945.

The man just gets it. He was blessed with a keen mind but he has made use of it in a self-giving, compassionate way. What a contribution he has made to us, to this country and world.
Of all the interviews on his book tour so far this is by far my favourite. It was nice to listen to a casual conversation instead of a recap of what he wrote. (Jimmy probably didn't do his homework but it worked out for the better imo) Also, the moment he gets hot under the collar remembering Michelle in that white dress is relationship goals gold.

Obama really nailed down how the magic of music unites people of all walks of life, past present and future. I got a wonderful personal flashback when when he talks about the first albums that he purchased with his own money. I loved how he states that music carries traditional, cultural and folk elements. I personally enjoy the Metal music genre which in my oppinion can become insanely powerful and "uniting" when blended with folk and traditional elements and instruments (opera vocals, Irish folk songs, hand-to-hand war battle stories, female+male duets, Peruvian Wooden Quena Flute, bagpipe, organ, piano, saxophone, flute, chello, conga drum, violin...etc.). This man might not be the funniest or most hip, but he talks from his heart, his struggles and his hopes.
I’m proud to be part of the young generation, I have some hope.

The way Obama can talk about music and musician is absolutely heartening. How deeply he appreciates music, what admiration he has for artists. We have seen it all during his presidency. The Kennedy Center honors has had stalwarts like Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin, Heart, countless others. The performances are for eternity.
If you search on youtube for "Trump Kennedy Center Honors", the only videos you come up with are, "Trump cancels Kennedy Centers Honors Reception..."! I doubt even if he listens to music. I doubt if he can tell 10 of his fav artists or songs. That says it all.
