Putin's Warning: FULL SPEECH

  • Initially, I translated only a small portion of this segment as I felt the key message must be made obvious. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with many people around the world reaching out to translate this into other languages, as well as to see the full address. This candid conversation took place with representatives of various media outlets during the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, in June 2016. Putin urged journalists to report genuinely on the impending danger that is a nuclear arms race.
Nobody has anything to gain from a nuclear stand-off against Russia. The power hungry decision-makers are few in number, but powerful enough to have subverted mainstream media to misrepresent Russia as the main threat to international security.
Back in 2007, Putin informed that Russia will develop its weaponry to counter US advances. This was said in response to the US missile defense system that was starting to be developed at the time (previously prohibited in international law.)
With the NATO missile defense system on Russia’s doorstep - the threat to international security is very real; not that you would know it via mainstream media.
In 2002, the United States unilaterally and without consultation, withdrew from the landmark Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty. President George W. Bush noted that the treaty is “now behind us,” describing the ABM Treaty as a Cold War relic.
Signed in 1972, the ABM Treaty barred both the US and the USSR from deploying national defenses against long-range ballistic missiles. The treaty was based on the premise that if either superpower constructed a strategic defense, the other would build up its offensive nuclear forces to offset the defense.
The superpowers would therefore quickly be put on a path toward a never-ending offensive-defensive arms race, as each tried to balance its counterpart’s actions. Until Bush took office, the Treaty was referred to as a “cornerstone of strategic stability” because it facilitated later agreements, reducing U.S. and Russian strategic nuclear arsenals.
The US, assuming that a weakened Russia will never again be in a position to counter US hegemonic power, proceeded to encroach on Russia’s borders through its manipulation of NATO objectives.
Today, there is no instrument in international law that prevents the possibility of mutually assured destruction. Putin has been sending out warnings for over 10 years - all of which fell on deaf ears.

you know what's funny, but also embarassing for America? I found this video in an article titled "Vladimir Putin reveals horrifying world war 3 plans in chilling video" so when he said American media would twist this around and call it "Russian aggression" he was exactly fucking right. this whole video, he's making it very clear that all he's trying to do is maintain the same balance of power that's kept peace between the two super powers, but the article talking about this video literally called it "horrifying plans for world war 3". fucking hell.

That isn't actually so embarrassing. No matter what, from either side there is going to be propaganda for their opposition. You can go to RT and see the same exact thing. Simply saying "The American media is gonna twist my words" doesn't really make him an overseer to what's really happening. No kidding it's gonna happen, because that's what the media always does. They have to do something to get people to watch their videos or read their articles, and if that mean's it has a clickbait title, they'll do it.

whys it a big deal? This is about so much more than Russia... and by the way, Russia wanted to have the Iran deal... we just wanted to bomb Iran... we still don't trust Iran.... and yes, after Crimea, many FSR countries are asking we put more military hardware on their soil. They do not trust Putin.
But anyways, it really isn't the strategic balance of superpowers that has kept the peace for the past 70 years. That geopolitical balance made everyone freak out that nuclear armageddon was around the corner. What's kept the peace for the past 30 years, and why Russia accuses us of only going to war with 3rd world barbarians, is that America is clearly the most powerful in the world, especially backed up by NATO and we don't do anything so egregious that all the other nations create an alliance and murder us whole. It got kinda close after the Snowden thing, many countries were pissed at our overreach -- especially their citizens, but then Russia invaded Ukraine and they forgot all about it.
And just to finish up my prior thought, its not about Russia anymore. We were shifting towards Asia. And you know what? We don't really enjoy being the world's watchdog. Everyone comes to us with their problems and we get blamed no matter what happens. It costs us lots of tax dollars. But its led to stability around the world for trade and research. We're not perfect no. But the only other countries willing to take on this role, most UN members would object to. Sure there's places like Canada and Sweden etc, but they have no interest in spending almost a trillion dollars a year on military.

US politicians are so beholden to so many different interests - lobbyists, their constituency, donors - they can never just talk straight because they have to do the mathematics in their heads, "If I say this this way than these people will be angry but these people will be happy, if I say this to this reporter but not this one, if I go on this news program I have to say this because these people will be watching" - Putin does not have this problem, he can be consistent in his simplification. His mind can be occupied with other fields because he doesn't have to constantly weigh the pros and cons in such a layered manner - it is one of the draw backs of democracy and one of the serious drawbacks of democracy in our modern, hyper-redundant and complicated world. Too many fingers in too many cookie jars and the politicians can only worry about getting re-elected.

    • @ivanag006
      @ivanag006 Před 5 lety +10

You're actually serious? I voted for Obama twice and what OP said is spot on. Putin outclasses Obama by a margin so wide in speeches, interviews, impromptu questions from reporters with an amazing amount of clarity, simplicity, historical precedence, sincerity in his emotions while maintaining a level of class unparalleled by his Western counterparts that it makes Obama look like a fish out of water in subjects dealing with international relations and foreign policy. Your comment is characteristic of Americans, left, center and right of the political spectrum that know nothing besides empty 'political speak' from their elected leaders and the 'authorities' in the mainstream press. Western 'political speak' dances around important issues, alludes to the vanity of American exceptionalism present in the citizens of the USA (the most powerful nation on Earth) and far from educating the recipients of the information it is meant to misinform, dis inform and keep the general political discourse at best a 5th grade level so the public is unable to form a coherent thought regarding said issue.
"[American exceptionalism] is a reaction to the inability of people to understand global complexity or important issues like American energy dependency. Therefore, they search for simplistic sources of comfort and clarity. And the people that they are now selecting to be, so to speak, the spokespersons of their anxieties are, in most cases, stunningly ignorant."
"I am very worried that most Americans are close to total ignorance about the world. They are ignorant. That is an unhealthy condition in a country in which foreign policy has to be endorsed by the people if it is to be pursued. And it makes it much more difficult for any president to pursue an intelligent policy that does justice to the complexity of the world."
      -Zbigniew Brzezinski
Those quotes are from one of America's preeminent geopolitical architects in the late 20th century into the 21st century from 2010. If you don't know who he is and you are an Obama fan you should be ashamed of yourself and count yourself as one of those that Brzezinski is referring to (I know, I was one of those). Brzezinski put Obama on the map and was his chief geopolitical strategist behind the scenes, just fyi...

I'm American. I'm also Estonian. A dual citizen. So, I have an allegiance to one of those small countries you speak of. It also happens to be a small country that has a long and bad history with Russia and the USSR. My family were made to flee Estonia in 1941 because of Soviet aggressions, and our country was illegally occupied from 1940 until 1991. That is why I am also an American citizen: my family was unable to return for fear of being sent to Siberia like so many of our relatives, never to be seen again, so I was born here. I didn't have a choice in where I was born, or being born having American citizenship. I never asked for it. I've never been particularly fond of the United States despite growing up here.
And there are many Estonians who feel very nervous about their neighbor to the east. I think the reason is entirely understandable when you examine the long history of being taken over by larger and more powerful countries - made to adapt to their society, speak their language, live their way - all while fighting fiercely to retain our own language and identity.
I think even people in Russia can recognize that there is a very understandable reason why the Baltic states, in the wake of Russia's behavior towards their southerly neighbors, and considering the history - twice now we have claimed independence from the Russian Empire and the USSR in only the last century - would have a mistrust of Russia and Russian politics and anything Putin says. Because he's very good with words, but to many the actions of Russia speaks very much louder than Putin's words. Perhaps Putin would find a way to make taking over Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania sound like a defensive action in response to American aggression. I'm sure he could - he is a masterful orator. But so was Hitler.
Even so, nobody desires war. Least of all me - I stand to lose doubly as the Baltics would be used as a battleground and I'd have no refuge in either Estonia or the U.S. I want to carefully assess what Putin says, but I also will weigh it against his actions. In politics, very rarely are we in the general public being spoken to completely truthfully. There is ALWAYS bias - on every side. Despite the history with Russia, despite the horrific actions in the past carried out by the former USSR against my people, despite all of that- I think it is worth listening to both sides. To stop fear mongering and selling stories about how Putin is "Planning WWIII" and hungers for war. I don't believe he does. If he did, there would be tanks once again rolling through the streets of Riga or Tallinn. But he knows very well what the response to that kind of move against a NATO member state would be, and he does not desire it.
At the same time, there is undoubtedly an increased sense of nervousness in the east. Russian planes flying perilously close to Baltic states and even breaching airspace from time to time. It is a boldness that can cause conflicts with the Americans. And nobody wants that. This is why we have not yet had WWIII. Because each side knows very well that such a conflict would carry on for many years and cost countless tens of millions of lives on both sides. Perhaps even a billion or more, if the nuclear option were used.
I think both sides need to tread much more carefully, and take a few steps back. Both sides must stop spreading slander and lies in their media. Both sides must be willing to honestly and openly express what it is they seek, and at least try to arrive at a place where each side gets at least a modified version of what it is they seek (unless what is sought is to expand territory to include previously occupied countries - in which case, they will pay dearly for their ambitions).
What I see in Putin is a lot of truth but also some modification of the truth and some omission of facts. But this is no less true of any politician in the west. I think that Putin does want what is best for his country - but what is best for Russia is not necessarily what is best for the Baltics, or Ukraine, or the United States. And what is best for the United States is not necessarily in the interest of any of the other parties. So, all sides must be willing to compromise without acts of aggression or hostile takeovers of smaller nations.
First step in securing peace cannot come from politicians alone. They have shown themselves to be incapable of that. We must, as the people of these countries, lead the way for them. There are very much more of us, after all, than there are those in our mutual governments.

i am an American. I understand both side. American government feels it need to stay strong and police the world to prevent war from happening in the past like Nazi war. Keep in mind no one will step up. China dont care about other country they are too busy feeding their people. Russia don't care about other country unless they can be beneficial.
Other people believe America should mind their own business. Yes we should mind our own business but what would the outcome of the past be? Who stepped up to end the war? We did it out of selflessness? Of course but we did it. Reward comes to those who win. Its not always fair but it is what it is. Are we scaring Russia and China.. I believe so. We have too many military presents surrounding Russia and China so I can understand they feel threatened. Russia is trying to bring back USSR and China is trying to control Asia. Keep in mind American people don't look down on Russian people, they actually like them. Just because the government did something that doesn't mean all American are assholes. Once the new generation starts and Trump is out of office things might hopefully be better.
I believe American should take out the missile defense in Romania and in return, Russia should stop trying to grab land. We will uninstall missile defense in South Korea if China stop trying to grab the ocean. A favor for a favor but the problem is American government is scared to release control of the world just in case something happens.
Keep in mind American helps more country then any other Country. Yes we have a lot of war. We have more freedom then China or Russia. Is it perfect HELL NO! but I can talk shit about my president and government that they suck at their jobs. Im not saying we are always right but if Russia want to step up to the plate then do it. Yes, we are not worried about Iran or North Korea "nukes", We are more worried about Russia and China and those missile defense are meant for them. Everyone in the world knows that North Korea or Iran will never fires a missile at USA, that's suicide.
The world is not perfect. No country is perfect. We all have flaws. Each country does what they consider is best for their people. American people don't hate Russians or Chinese. I love Ginger beer with Vodka and I love Panda Express! I'm pretty sure Russia and China loves Coca Cola. Anyways, I really do hope for peace, I play one too many call of duties games, I would pee my pants a little if that were to happen again in real life. Lucky I won't be drafted! LOL! I didn't apply for financial aid! Sucka! No Selective Service for me! BTW I wasn't born in America.

Russian people understand the difference between US people and some people in the US government. We love Americans, but we are afraid of the present mentality of the US government. Russia is trying to return its sovereignty to itself since the collapse of the USSR. We are interested in safe boarders around us. We are greatly concerned about multiple NATO bases around our country (we have only few, 2 or 3 outside of our territory and non nearby the USA). We are forced to re-arm our army because of the constant increase of the NATO soldiers and infrastructure just 300 miles from our capital. We've been constantly asking the US gov-t for equal and serious negotiations about global and local concerns of our countries in order to find middle ground. Unfortunately, the US gov-t does not even consider it. Well... consider, of course, but from the point of view "submit to our power." This is what Putin means when he mentions "master-vassal relationship." But Russia is not going to submit, so the US gov-t continues to pressure. I understand the US - in this case they will have to admit that other countries have their own national interests, and this ruins the system of "global power and exclusiveness." This is a big deal, I mean it!

If you will take a look at Russian history, you will see that Russia has always had trouble containing advances by its neighbors and it has always had trouble growing enough food. Russia is a great people, but they are not gifted with the natural resources North America is. Saying their economy is getting better and better becomes untrue when the arms war initiated by the New World Order in 1991 forces Russia to spend inordinate amounts on defense. I think Russia will be saved by the single-mindedness of its pursuit of defense and modernization. Afterall, they have been fighting for survival since 900 CE, and by now they've had some practice staying alive. Something like four times as much time for struggle as anyone in North America. The United States economy appears to be on the edge of catastrophic decline, while Russia is plodding ahead with a vastly more realistic agenda. Strange place, this world . . .

To answer that question one must know the history of Romania. On short note, 3 times in history we were betraid by russians: After the war between Russia and Turkey in 1877 when we were allies and won eventually with heavy losses and after that they snatched the south of Basarabia from the Moldovian motherland as "compensation" of liberation of Valahia from the dominion of Turkish Empire. The second betrayal was in WW1 when we send them the National Treasure (17 train wagons first part and another 24 second part) and they kept most of the gold and german currency, returning mostly items with romanian cultural value after lomg debates. This issue is still a topic on the table of romanian diplomats. And the 3rd betrayal was during WW2 when they transmitted us an ultimatum to evacuate all Basarabia and North Bucovina even if Romania didnt entered the war at that time. That forced the romanian government to take side of Germany in the war. So yes we know russians too well.

first of all - I have to say, listening to Putin is a breath of fresh air. It's nice to be able to finally listen a politician - a leader - a world leader for that matter - speak truthfully and candidly. I've been watching quite a few of his dialogues in invited meetings, and such and I have to say he is clearly sincere. He is not lying - he even has the respect to indicate that he will not say some things, but say other things, and is able to bring his point full circle - in every dialogue I've witnessed - to finalize his statements.
I've been wanting to learn Russian for awhile, and i think it's time indeed. I am quite sure there are more distinct nuances which do not translate efficiently into english - as is the case with all languages (I speak 6 so I'm quite sure).
Putin made one statement which is distinct - international politics is mathematics. It's all causality rendering a solution and conclusion.
I watched Putin in one round table discussion on a Russian broadcast and I was struck by some very interesting patterns
1: He was taking notes - in order to ensure he answered without forgetting any of the question
2: he referred to 'we' not 'me' or 'i' when speaking in regards to his government, but clearly his focus is on the russian people.
3: he asked for clarification on the naming of a specific group, from one of the members who was an Arabic professional - to ensure he was understood clearly.
these are very interesting character traits, when one is watching an individual to determine their authenticity. He doesn't have an ego about him, which supersedes his ability, thus debilitating his purpose - he's clearly focused on his position as a leader of a nation.
I'm pleased I found your channel and have subscribed. I'll be following what you render :)

We now have the situation were, rightly these countries have their own independence but unfortunately they have turned to the west, which means that all the western nuclear missiles placed in those countries are now pointed at Russia, so you cannot really blame Putin for his "Sabre Rattling". One last point...... What do you think America would do if it's neighbouring countries (Canada, Mexico) pallid up with Russia, and perhaps allowed Russia to dock it's nuclear submarines in their harbours? Just a thought

спасибо--thank you kindly for your translation, and I hope you will continue doing more. As a translator myself, I wanted to mention that it is always a good thing when you can help people access information so they can get a clearer idea of what is actually going on and being said. As you know: a translator’s responsibility is to convey accurately what is being communicated in an unbiased way. It isn’t important whether your audience agrees with you or not, but you can help people who are willing to listen understand and potentially arrive at more 'logical' conclusions by providing them with access (which is why I am also thankful for RT). I’m old enough to miss the ‘good old days’ of the CCCP in the 1970s and a more ‘balanced’ world, and balance is a good thing. I stay out of politics, but, I would say that your president is highly intelligent and well informed about the global situation; and, furthermore, he has successfully maneuvered on numerous occasions so I don’t think anyone is going to ‘outwit’ him soon. In any case, your English is excellent, and I hope you will translate more so that people can judge for themselves and formulate their own opinions based on information from all sides as well as rational discussion and reasoned debate (assuming they have the capacity). Keep up the good work! Lastly, you might enjoy this clip, czcams.com/video/qoW4rvruzNA/video.html where your ‘friend’ is cited at the end (as you can read). Best regards, good luck and thanks again!

I first discovered Inessa several months ago. I see that CZcams is intentionally making it hard to find her videos. She hit 100k subs several months ago and is now only at 101k. We have to do our job and share her work on social media or any other way we can. I am now subscribed so I can find her more easily. CZcams is likely to unsubscribe me (or you) without permission and make it hard to find her work again. This is how the game works. Don’t let them win.

It's amazing to see the differences of quality of statements made by leaders in Europe like Putin versus leaders in North America. Putin discusses an issue in-depth in front of cameras, North American leaders in the United States and Canada only make short platitude remarks with little substance. I live in Canada, I can't stand any of our political leaders.

I think the mistake was assuming Russia upheld the US's respect or the balance of power after the Soviet Union fell.
After the Soviet Union fell, the US was the only world power left and the US looked at Russia only as a regional power.

Unlike the US and some European powers, Putin is not scared to let his people (and the world also) know what is actually at stake and what the facts are.
It's essential that we, as people of the world and no matter where we come from, are properly informed about the things that are happening.

Which no excuse..but it worries me how few people will look up documents and see the bigger picture and realize things need to change in office because we're starting to sound a lot worse than nazi Germany did

At about 3:30 seconds he has some really profound revelations about how we got here and I believe it to be true from watching the US. I remember us withdrawing from the 1972 arms agreement and thought that was a mistake on our part.
President Putin seems to take this very seriously and has great respect for traditional conservative leaning principles, no one is perfect but he's pretty high up there on the list of successful presidents.
I love how he answers questions, I can see the seriousness he brings to his work. Please wish us luck in the upcoming election and pray for Donald Trump.

Reading the comments on here it is easy to see how wars start, all I can see is name calling, insults, people using lies to back up their points ... peace starts with the understanding and acceptance of others, including their views. We can learn from each other if we just take the time to listen to each others views without verbally abusing or judging each other.
