Not true. Silicone is tasteless, what you're actually tasting is dish soap, which is why the taste gets worse over time. When you wash silicone at high temperatures it expands and "traps" the soap inside, and it's difficult to get out once you do this. Always wash with cold water and DONT put it in the dishwasher like she suggests.

Why not just use a bowl as a microwave cover? Or a large microwaveable container? I guess it depends on how large of a dish you’re putting in the microwave.. but I mostly microwave things straight from the fridge that are already in microwaveable Tupperware, so it seems silly to buy another entire product just for that purpose, it’s just more large clutter, with nooks and crannies that are annoying to clean.. and for the ‘steaming compartment’ I just add water to the dish before I put it in the microwave, or you can use a small cup and fill it with water.
There are also purpose built microwave plate covers with vents that have been around for years - they’re great for containing moisture as well as ‘splatter’, and so much easier to give that a quick wash/ rinse after each use than wiping the entire inside of the microwave.

As a person with a PhD in polymers, YES so true not to use plastics for food if you can avoid it (transfer to a plate before microwaving a meal, for example). BUT if you want to, silicone is honestly not bad for you. Silicones are basically the same material building blocks as sand ... and don't burn into anything, let alone anything bad for you, on head contact. Whereas, plastics are basically made of the same building blocks as gasoline which you def don't want to eat. So when in doubt, choose silicones and don't be afraid of it (they take forever to wear out, so buying 1 silicone spatula might be more sustainable than buying like 4 wooden spatulas)

They are also possibly made in the worst environmental and labour conditions. Reusable products are ALWAYS a good thing. Don't see why people are saying the contrary. It also saves you money on not having to buy those products again. Yes, fabric can have holes, but it lasts for years instead of buying those products FOR years. Some great products are: washable makeup remover pads, washable period pads, fabric pot covers, 'unpaper' towels. As well as washable aluminum foil and parchment paper. I am also trying to have less plastic so replacing kitchen utensils with bamboo ones. As well as my brush and pen holders, also in bamboo. Remember though to sell, exchange or donate anything you are replacing/getting rid of. :)

i know the majority of these things people dont necessarily need, but for people who executive dysfunction, excessive fatique, who are autistic or have adhd, disabled, et cetera, items like these would bring ease and make their lives easier. maybe the average joe doesnt need it. but these items could very well be needed by disabled and neurodivergent people.
ps: executive dysfunction is when it feels excessively difficult to simply get up and do normal daily tasks, let alone work. to quote, "Children and adults with executive dysfunction often struggle to organize materials, regulate emotions, set schedules and stick with tasks. They misplace papers, reports, and other school materials. They might have similar problems keeping track of their personal items or keeping their bedroom organized." for those who's executive function part of the brain works, this isnt an issue for you, but it can very well be for many neurodivergent people. oh, neurodivergence is basically when your brain is wired in a way that isn't the norm. people with bpd, ptsd, autism, adhd, anxiety, down-syndrome, and other conditions are considered neurodivergent (versus neurotypical, which means your brain functions normally.)

But truthfully the creators are usually people who had severe issues and created these things as a solution.
