#CommodoreAmiga #Amiga #Rygar - Hry
I’ve watched the video a couple of times now and all i can say is that it gets me emotional when i watch it. All of the hard work i put into the game is really coming to fruition and I’m so thankful to AmigaBill for bringing new content to the Amiga scene, it is exactly what i am trying to do with new games and through my tutorial series. The video is nothing short of brilliant and thanks again to Bill and the community for promoting it.
Wow, I am speechless. This is the highest compliment I can receive. Thank You Graeme. I can't contribute to the community by making games or software or anything like that, but video is my thing so that is what I have to offer. This made my weekend!
Great work!
It gets me emotional too. It pisses me off. Grifter here won't put the interview on YT because he thinks he should be paid for interviewing a guy who put months of work into a FREE RELEASE. GRIFTER!!!!!!!!!!!! GURU GRIFTER.
Not needing an accelerator card, and hitting 50 FPS on a stock A1200 is a testament to McGeezer's aptitude for coding. The box art is special too - brilliant achievement!
Excellent point P-dub! His coding is top notch. I can't believe I am seeing games of this quality on the Amiga, let alone a stock 1200
Seriously one of the best games ever made. Super dope to see a boxed modern copy for the Amiga.
It really is an incredible game that is fun to play
Nice to see that these old systems like the Amiga STILL have a lot of love from people who grew up with them. The fact that people are making arcade ports AND totally new games AND even hardware for these old systems shows that there is STILL a market for retro gaming.
On that note, check out The 8-Bit Guy's "My perfect computer" project, where he and his team are creating an 8/16 bit computer ala' the Commodore 64 from scratch:

Back in the day was a limited Rygar demo, but the game never materialized...truly amazing.
Nice video Bill. It's a great game but very difficult. Greane and his team done a tremendous job with Rygar. I was also given a boxed version and I was over the moon to be one of those ten. I watched the entire Interview stream on Twitch and really enjoyed it and it was very interesting to hear about how it was done. Thank you for making this Video. I agree with you about looking at the screenshots on the back of boxes. I also did that loads in the old days.
Cheers Jamie! It is very difficult, I agree. I am really glad you got a boxed edition as well. That is well deserved! Thanks for tuning into the stream and asking great questions. I really appreciate the support. Speaking of that, as I am typing I seem to remember that you made a Rygar video as well. I will go check it out.
Awesome port of Rygar to the Amiga! Superb job by Graeme Cowie and Kevin Saunders! Love also the style of the box!
I agree! Cheers Andreas!
Great stuff boys! Graeme did some top shelf work and I really enjoyed the interview!
Thanks guys! Agreed. This port is amazing!
More awesome Amiga love. Great work Graeme, thank you. And thanks to you both for covering this.
Cheers Richard!
Excellent video as always, Bill. Love me some Rygar for sure! I appreciate that Graeme did not code this for the lowest common denominator A500 but instead went AGA. Great stuff!
Thanks Doug! Agreed, a stock 1200 is a great place to be for a new Amiga game.
The music and the sound fx, sound very arcade.
Cool stuff.
It is really cool!
Incredible port of Rygar, very nice video bill , everything is perfectly explained!! Thanks
Thanks Max! I try to explain thing clearly and in a logical order. Glad it worked for you!
And also as always high quality video prod. ;-)
Aw thanks bud. I do my best. I think I will do unboxing and game demos of other Amiga games too if people like this video.
Brilliant. The box is really a true piece of art. FANTASTIC! :-D
The box is beautiful and I love the floppy disk too!
Super job on the video presenting Rygar, finally got my Box the other day and look forward to showing it off at my next local Amiga gathering :)
Awesome Kev! I am so glad you like the video. I wanted to do your excellent work justice! Have fun at the next meeting. The Rygar physical edition has already visited WAUG!
Great game, great video! More of that please!
Thanks Martin! You got it. The response to this video has been awesome so we will do more videos like this with other games.
@@TheGuruMeditation Great! I am keen on!
Rygar is the game I always wished was on the Amiga, back in the day. This was such an amazing game. I did purchase the PS4 version of the game and find that it's good, but the timing is just off a little bit. I think perhaps the problem is the analogue controller versus digital via the arcade. Hybris was also one of the first Amiga titles I saw and could not believe it was a home computer. Weeks later, the bank account was empty, I gave my ST to my sister and purchased an Amiga 500 with ram expansion to 1 mb.
awesome stuff! Another new game for my favourite OS in 2019 :-)
And it is a great game!
The Guru Meditation yes indeed it is :-)
Yes please, more gaming videos! :)
Cheers Alex. Thanks for the feedback. More to come!
Did not expect that ending. Jesus. xDD
Ha ha! That is my mascot AirJuri from Finland. He is the best. It is a gag over on my Twitch channel
Great i had not heard about these ports, i love bomb jack. I think we all want to hear the gory details of the programming, its a fantastic time where the guys who learnt from the computer scientists in the late 70s are now older men themselves and have free time for exciting new "authentic software (and hardware) projects.
Very true! it is so great that these folks are doing new Amiga ports and original games. After having so many years of experience, they are now pushing the Amiga to new heights that we didn't dream of back then
Check the post at Eab for full story of the development :)
@@Horrordelic Great call. I should post a link to that in the description
Looks great!
It is awesome!
This is pretty awesome
For sure!
amiga all the way..:D
Heck yeah!
brilliant stuff.
Aw, thanks MVG. Really appreciate that bud. We will do more videos like this. With so many beautiful physical editions coming out, we have to acknowledge them
very cool
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
more!
Yeah I think more videos like this is a good move
I wonder.... a CASTLEVANIA for AMIGA!
That would be awesome!
Great video, great memories! How would i get an Amiga? I had a 500, would think of getting more powerful one, if it can do internet too
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. A more powerful Amiga can go online, but it isn't a modern experience. The web browsers are very outdated. If you are interested in purchasing one, I would check in with www.retrobench.com
Endpart music, please? ;-)

Hi I am a big Rygar Fan. Can you recommend any other games like this on Andriod?
Sorry, I don't really know games for Android. Wish I could help
is this "rygar" compatible with amiga 500?
No, it needs a 1200 or better unfortunately
@@TheGuruMeditation sad, but thank you. By the way.... great job!
@@orlandomendes3616 Thanks Orlando!
sounds like a northerner, newcastle? :)
I am not sure where Graeme is from
The big diablo monster fly too high, in the original game is impossible to avoid he that way. Also the diablo flies at the speed you can scroll the scenario, not that fast, so you can maintain he behind you but if you delay just a bit to kill somebody it will catch you. Also the enemies forming a tower looks wrong... , or is just a thing of so low fps?
oh interesting. I need to go back and play the arcade version again. I have been playing this one so much I forget some of the details of the arcade version. I don't believe the stacking of enemies has to do with the frame rate
not a fan of the low res box art, the scanlines make it look even cheaper
Kevin felt that adding the scan lines would help hide the fact that they were working with a low quality image. I think it looks really cool in person, but I understand you knot liking them. That is the beauty of art. Personally I don't like adding artificial scan lines to my game when emulating, so I feel you.
No good animation.... On pc emulator mame32 is perfect
This is a port that runs on a real Amiga computer from 1992. MAME is an emulator for modern PCs that uses the exact arcade ROMs . They are 2 very different things
@@TheGuruMeditation ok I agree with this, but I think the game could be better.... The amiga hw of 1200 and 4000 is much stronger than original arcade
@@KonstantinosGerakis Yes, but also the arcade hardware is optimized specifically for that game. Like he said, he had to reduce the number of colors of the sprites and whatnot. This game runs at 50 fps, do you know what the original arcade version runs at? I am curious
@@TheGuruMeditation Technical
CPU: Z80 7.6 MHz
SOUND CPU: Z80 4 MHz
SCREEN: 256x224 horz 60Hz
COLORS: 1024 dynamic
SOUND: YM-3812 4 MHz
You realize the hw of coin op is very weak...
@@KonstantinosGerakis ah yes, 60Hz. I bet the arcade version you were playing was running at 60fps vs the 50fps of this port to a PAL hence the smoother motion. A PAL Amiga was only capable of 50 Hz because that is the PAL standard. Personally i don't have a problem with this port at all. It is super fun to play and I think it is excellent. Also, the new levels are outstanding. They look much nicer than anything in the original in my opinion. Those parallax clouds are amazing and I love the moon lit levels
