conversion was really easy. took off the intake, removed the check valves, plugged off one of the outlets and viola, i have pulse for the fuel pump. pump was cheap too. going to try a 7 dollar fuel pump off ebay on the next one.

How did u convert the fuel system? Need a video

Pull intake. Install a small rubber plug on one of the pulse valves. Use the vacuum to power a generic fuel pump. Swap out fuel attachment on motor.

i really dont know the answer. i just bought a universal fuel pump at the lawn mower shop. told the parts guy i had a 5.5 hp motor, and thats what they gave me. its a universal briggs and stratton for 20 bucks. then i had a spare fuel connector, and a 1/4" vacumn plug.

the water pump needs to be under the water at all times when running in a tank, bucket etc.

Hi I'm trying this at the moment on the same motor just wondering what part you used for fuel connector? from the hose to the engine struggling to find something at moment

i used a standard omc fuel fitting. remove the old one. u need to block off one of the ports one the intake to create a pulse for the fuel pump.

thanks vintage. wondering if i can get a buyer for this? motor runs better than most new 4 strokes.

I was wondering why not use a low pressure electric pump?

  • @coalbear1

BTW what is the fuel pressure required for a 57' 7.5?

  • @brandonmichael230

the fuel pump works off a pulse from the motor. as the rpm increased so does the demand for fuel. a electric might over take the needle valve. the conversion is one that is tried and proven.
