Great videos Joshua, For anyone doing this update to Walksnail be aware that you will need to update betaflight firmware to 4.4 otherwise the OSD goes off centre. The HD setting in 4.4 is needed to sort this out.
Can you just remove the crosshairs, instead of updating Betaflight?
Is walksnail backwards compatible? Alot of people are saying the old firmware is better?

Hey Joshua, big fan! I decided to pickup a Walksnail Vrx and V2 Vtx with HD Pro camera at the end of April. Unfortunately both items came defective, direct from Caddx. The V2 Vtx won't connect to any PC, even after being sent a replacement USB-C breakout cable, and the Vrx had to be disassembled to get the record button to function properly. On top of that, Caddx support has been ignoring my questions about the refund period. It's been a whole month now with a very expensive paper weight! Have you heard of any other QC issues with Walksnail products? This is my first dive into digital FPV and so far it hasn't been positive.

I bought the Walksnail Goggles X and the Moonlight kit. The moonlight blinks green and the only thing I see in the goggles is that I'm connected to channel 1. Just the splash screen, no image. I'm wondering if I got a defective unit.
Guessing I bricked mine, it is no longer beeping or anything when I press any buttons and can't get an output.
Whats the foampadding on these goggles in video. It looks wider and more comfortably than stock. (I do like the fake leather quality of the original only wish it was a bit wider... so depeninding on price im willing to try aftermarket foam)
It's the DJI goggle foam from NewBeeDrone. It's a little over-sized but I make it work.
you should mention that you must format the SD card on the goggles first then put the firmware if you have not used the goggles before and have not done this it will be a struggle

I'm waiting on my first drone but I'll sure wait and see the VTX version before updating the goggles, I heard the last 2--3 versions are quite bad because of the spectator mode or something like that.

Looking for a little help hopefully someone or the main man himself can help me. Recently got the jb special edition radiomaster tx16s with his voice pack. I've set up a few of them. Arm, acro. Turtle. My quad has gps. And there is a gps locked sounds. I want it to say it when the drone gets a 3d fix. I get sat count through telemetry. But setting up a special function with Sat's or gps as the trigger makes it say it right away when powered on even without the quad being on. Am I missing something. Or can we just not make it say it. I was hopping we could set a special function with say when it reports 10 or more stats through telemetry it would say it then
Hi Joshua, I’m having a problem with my new walksnail avatar vrx. I have updated the firmware to 37.42.5 using the AvatarSE_Gnd_37.42.5.img and did a “reset all”. Then I added the avatar_pwr.txt and the avatar_std.txt to the sd card and I get the 8 channels but the power only goes to 500mW. What am I missing.
So do we not have to reset the goggles and reconnect to the vrx anymore after the firmware update? I remember being told that.
I'm not sure the Dominator manual has this information...

I downloaded the 32. 37.10 update. Everything says it's connected but I only have a black screen.
Sorry - but, I was happy to see you struggle with that poorly designed vtx update /storage cable. Lol - its so frustrating. I can't wait until they move away from that completely (er um - I hope they do).
Is there a trick to making the connection? I cant seem to get it to work. It's constantly disconnecting and connecting.
Each cable for each vtx is different but very similar - make sure you are using the right cable. The one included should be the right one. Other than that - last time I used a usb extender to have plenty of cable length and I used some putty to help hold it in place so I could update without it disco'ing on me. @@yusukie88

I tried both 34.40.15 (beta) and 33.39.10 but none would work :-( I have the fast bit you are mentionning in the video. could it be the SD card?

You don't need to but I would.
How many cells do you guys use to power on your vrx during updates? The only power rail available to me on my flight controller is full voltage on 6s. How do you prevent overheating?
Overheating doesn't depend on input voltage. I use a fan to blow on the vTX to keep it cool while working on the bench.
Awesome. I am using a power supply at 7 volts. I am running into the same issue you had with a finicky usb. At first the receiver would connect and disconnect like yours, but now I am getting nothing. Any advice?@@JoshuaBardwell
Give it more than 7v and see if that brings it back to life. Maybe you are on the edge of minimum voltage.
Does the DVR on the VTX always record, or only when you hit record on the goggles? I can't find an answer in the manual.
You can set in the goggle menu if you want to auto record to the VTX or to the goggles or to both.

I have tried 3 different SD cards with my new goggles. It always says no sd on the goggles. I tried formatting but never says anything. Do you think I got a defective goggles?

It's Newbeedrone DJI foam. It's a little over-sized but I make it work.
What foam are you using on the goggles JB??
It's the Newbeedrone DJI foam. It's not a perfect fit.

yes its shit cheap bastards I will be using this little remote mount usb c that came with the Avatar HD pro . Not sure if you get that with the other camera/vtx
Im goin to use a lil 6000 adhesive on that little plug to keep it in place totally janky and nowhere near as usable as the plug on the OG vtx🤮😖😥
I use a USB extension cord...
thats a really good idea. Its frustratingly short.
