Ive owned and currently own an EV, love how they drive, love plugging in at home for cheap, but the depreciation sucks balls and eats up any savings from gas to electric. Last but not least it takes to long to charge dcfc on long trips. We're not there yet, once depreciation is normal and we can fully charge in say 10-15 minutes tops 10% to 90% on the open road dcfc I'm probably headed back to gas or hybrid. The Ramcharger is an interesting option next year, chevy should have done their version long ago
Should have called it the avalanche.
Exactly. And made it a hybrid so you could do Avalanche-type things with it, like go camping in the wilderness and not have to plug it in.
Evolanche
Missed opportunity. Retro is in. Avalanche EV.
24 inch wheels = $2,500 tire replacements for all four easy
I think they actually did a very good job. Not an EV guy but I would like to test drive one.
Like the why it looks. If it had a 5.3 or 6.2, I would like to have one.
I used to be a Ford Fanboy all the way but over the last few years I've been liking the GMCs... I used to hate the avalanche but I love this truck.
Thanks for the video! Glad to see so many different types of trucks BUT everything is getting so expensive.Beautiful looking truck though!
BYD Shark is the truck to have 👏
Very innovative truck & great review Truck King 👍
Thanks 👍
Nobody wants electric trucks. We want cheaper price on the ones they build now.
Speak for yourself billy... i have a ford lightning and haven't been to the gas station in 2 yrs.... lot of money saved billy
Everyone wants a Rivian R1T after they see a review. That is, until the price is mentioned. Then…not so much. I suspect this Silverado EV will be the same.
The Lightning is selling in decent numbers also, and the owners seem happy for the most part.
You’re just factually wrong.
@@SlackTastic The Lightning isn't doing that great actually
Keep spending more money on gas
Boomer, many in Atlanta love electric trucks
Whens it available for test drives for regular people?
Get rid of the E trunk, move the cab forward and get a real bed . After all they are building a Truck . Or are they ?
"After all they are building a Truck . Or are they ?" -- Look at those ghetto wheels, and you will have an answer to your question. All it's missing is spinner hubcaps.
Making a cab that is in the very front will look ugly and no one will buy it.
I personally like having a lockable area.
You can easily option other wheels. Or get a less bling bling trim. @@mountainhobo
The bed is no shorter than most pickups sold. Crew cab, short bed is way more popular than two door, long bed in ICE trucks.
@@TroySavary "You can easily option other wheels." -- How do you know? Those wheels come standard. I went to the Chevrolet website, they show no options at this time. Are you a dealer with an inside information?
big questions missed on the midgate: Can you store the gas and fold back the seats for use? Can you remove the Tonneau cover bar for full roof height load space?
Undisputed GOAT EV truck. Well done, GM
I’m excited about the longer range!
Cool looking truck!
I think it looks great ! Very sharp. Finally a decent range ❤
It’s a nice looking truck with amazing features. Will have to see how the next couple of years sales are and what growing pains they have.
I love this truck. Range. Versatility. Innovation. THIS is the Cybertruck killer.
Range?🤭🤥 lolol
Awesome!
When is the end of the embargo on driving impression?
At $30-$40K I might buy it. No long range use with any of these EV Trucks. Need to wait for solid state batteries and the infrastructure to catch up with the dreams of EV makers.
You don't live in the real world do you?
You can have a Maverick 🤣
This is pretty well designed overall, but 9000 pounds is ridiculously heavy for a 1/2 ton truck. I wonder if the midgate will leak and rattle like the Avalanche.
This is a half-ton *fully electric* truck that’s over 230-inches long. Just to put things into perspective for the people who didn’t already know EVs are heavier than ICE products.
It weighs 9k, but can only pull 10k for about 80 miles before the batties die. FYI
It's another fake truck.
Love it
Why do they crank up the power so much? It would do perfectly fine at half those numbers. Price is too high, nich market.
Because power comes easy with EVs. Especially when you use two motors for AWD.
@@TroySavary tune it down, increase distance, and demand put on the grid?
Great looking truck with useable numbers but beyond my snack bracket.
Yup. I hope the price is more decent when the lower trim levels are available. I’m not fond of those huge wheels anyway.
Well, impressive. Too impressive, in fact... ;)
I guess, sarcasm LOLOLOL
They are proud of that. I wonder what the profit margin is?
All the truck should have that since the first day..
Wasn't a fan of the avalanche look. I'm still not liking it. Like those horse power and torque numbers.
Full size pickup with 1540 pound payload, yet you can get a Ford Maverick with a 1500 pound payload at LESS then half the size of this truck. I'm more a GMC/Chevy guy at that.
Full size electric trucks don't excite me yet. Time will tell how this one fares
They're exciting, but have yet to be able to adequately function as a full size pickup replacement for me especially given their pricing right now (not even touching on their weight, which is borderline absurd for the performance they have).
@@ALMX5DP lightning, rivian and ct ev trucks weigh the same or LESS than a loaded fueled ram trx with 35s or a raptor r on 35s fueled. 👍🏻😀
@@4literv6 Lightning w/ extended battery weighs 6900lbs, R1T weighs about 7100lbs, CT weighs ~6600lbs, TRX weighs 6450lbs and Raptor R weighs 6100lbs. Comparing to similar trucks though, a standard F-150 crew cab 4wd weighs about 5300lbs.
@@ALMX5DP My '18 F-150 Crew Cab 4x4 weighs 5000 pounds and goes 700 miles on a tank of gas.
They're great if you don't do real truck things. I use mine for commuting, family, home depot, shop truck. If I had to tow long distance that would be a deal breaker. Has more than enough power for short tows.
no towing range no buy
Not everyone is going to be towing
240 miles towing works for me
I can't wait to these hit the lot, dont sell and i can get a 20k discount like i did on my lightning. 😅
It looks good but I’m not fond of the black. I think a lighter colour would look much better, or maybe two tone. Why not for that kind of dough.
Looks like it should have been called the Avalanche. Also the window should have either just rolled down electrically.
I could probably afford one..but who wants $1800 mntly payments...with the price im guessing payments are Heavy
Hydroline!
Thank you! I Love this truck. I'm excited to get one ASAP. Features are good, Range is excellent. Perfect fit for me.
I will stick with my powerboost.
2:15 Ridiculously oversized wheels...20" would be more than big enough...
It looks like an El Camino
The battery chemisty just isnt there not enough energy density compare to gas or diesels. This truck is way too heavy. In addition the EV charging stations are not enough and charging speeds are too slow.
No way, not in my lifetime
That should work great in Canadian weather
$117 half ton, no thank you! lol
I know this design was made by a sacrifice of a single Japanese who didn't see enough opposite..
We'll have to agree to disagree on the wheels.
90k forget that
This Chevy proves that ford have the best commercial vehicle designers in the industry
Lmdao. Wait what?? 😂
😂😂😂
Would love to see the midgste on the regular trucks.
Amazing mid-gate! They even made it so you could drop 60 or 40. And towing is up there. I totally want one for sure. Once you drive electric you will be hooked
the towing range is 60-80 miles, no its not "up there" lol. 30 minute stop every 60 minutes on a trip is not "up there"
Mid gate is a joke , can only use it on pavement when the temperature is @ 70 degrees ,no rain, and do not mind alot of wind noise .
@@rodgood You can close it up under a tonneau cover dude. Get some learning, watch the video. Then try not to envy.
@@sunburst8810 you can tow much further. Like 200 miles. And it will whoop your old truck that is probably financed at 19%
@@user-bl4ez3sh5g You sound like a city truck owner , or some one who has never owned a truck .
Wow, you Canadians pay out the nose for things. Is it possible to come to America buy a truck there and take it back?
On new vehicles no. Protection laws laws from all three North American countries won’t allow to do it.
You can but you have to declare the vehicle , pay taxes or duties , ensure the vehicle is clear of recalls and pass inspection by RIV Registrar Of Imported Vehicles. It’s a long process.
That's pretty much the exchange rate . Low Canadian dollar
All this to take your kids to McD, Costco, etc. and then take a huge loss in depreciation when you are tired of it. It's really for rich people to flaunt their wealth.
Or it's for someone like me that would use it as a truck and not pay for gas. I work in construction and i own a ford lightning. It works great and i save on fuel👍👍👍 people like you talking 💩 about EVs have never owned one is such a joke....
Not a bad unibody truck but I do not like the wheels.
Enter the age of crucks.
good luck trying to get replacement tires
you just pay big $$$ to play. lol
Can’t we just have simple affordable trucks again like the GMT400s?
Because the Gov won’t let you
Amen. Or the GMT800s
How much? Oh right completely unaffordable for 90% of Americans
This real truck makes the cyber Camino look like a joke.
If you want attention, nothin matches Cyber truck.
This truck looks dope . Human beings are extremely stubborn and don’t like change . Electric trucks will get better and better every year and push past the gasoline versions eventually just like all my power tools around my house . Drills , lawnmower , weed trimmers , blowers , fans . Ex ex ex … all cordless electric . All awesome and convenient .
I don't mind change. But I don't like the idea of a NINE THOUSAND POUND half ton truck. What they are in the future has no bearing on what to buy today. If batteries somehow advance to the point of making EV trucks practical that means that this particular truck will be worthless. It's nearly impossible to justify the investment.
The government did not require you to buy battery powered tools. It’s all about choice.
Best looking Chevy in a long time, finally a modern design
Ya the only thing that this does not have and owner would want and need is a charging generator of either gasoline or diesel for your batteries 😉
Why would someone need that when there are plenty of places to charge?
@@ALMX5DP well not so much here in Ontario for level three charging . Infrastructure is very lacked behind and you will need a lot places to have maybe ten to fifteen stations spread apart to handle a whole slooth of ev vehicles coming in to get charged with electricity ,,you might have to wait 40 minutes to an hour just to plug in ( and hopefully they all work). Ram didn’t with there new ev trucks that the gas engine only comes on when the batteries get to certain percentage to kick in and charge , the driveline is not connected to gas motor only electric motors. It’s not brand new technology, locomotive trains been using it for years. Diesel engines powering a big electric motors.
@@erniearruda8861 seems like plenty of places in Ontario already for DC fast charging for the given number of current EVs on the road right now. That number continues to grow as well as most people charge at home for the day to day so DCFC is really only for trips out of the area. Ram has both pure EV and range extending versions of their pickup coming out.
midgate forever now
Make sure your load is secured
Gm electronics=dumpster fire....no way in hell anyone on a budget will find these affordable. Another failed GM idea in my opinion
Get woke go broke and no bailout this time
Typical gm. A bit late to the party. Lets bring out an ev truck after the lightning was laughed at. This wont last long
Too expensive
This will not sell any better than the lightning
Gets over 200 more miles on a charge...
Terrible audio - what happened?
their production is garbage and always has been. why they wont get more than an android phone camera is beyond me.
Great....another $100,000 and 10,000 pound truck
These features would be great in a truck with a V8. Hopefully that mid gate is redesigned with a power roll down window.
If you want big brother to totally control your way of transportation, just buy an ev so it can be turned off for any reason they seem fit.
I had 3 tealsa and i own a ford lightning and not once has anyone turned it off. Sounds like you believe in space lasers 🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@atg1338 not yet! But that is because there is still too many gasoline vehicles on the road and not enough infrastructure for those pos ev’s. Learn to think before you spout that mouth of yours. Don’t be so foolish
I guess you live off grid also. So that big brother can’t totally control your power.
@@Lawrence-pv3hg yep
We love our Model 3 for what it is. Was cheaper than a Toyota Camry. It's fast, comfortable and charging at home for a commuter car is great. EV trucks are just to expensive and impractical for their use case. A 100k 9k Lb truck that you can't road trip or tow very far. On top of that owning one of these out of warranty seems terrifying. What's the cost to replace the battery if it tanks past a 100k miles? It's just to much money to gamble with. Resale on EVs is terrible. No one is going to want to pay 50-60k for a used EV that is basically scrap if the battery goes. What's a 100k Ev truck going to be worth with 110k miles on it? lol
I take my Rivian on 9 to 12 hr road trips all the time with no big issues. I eat when i charge and hit the road. Alot of people who complain about ev vehicles have never actually owned one.
@atg1338 I own a Tesla model 3. It's great around town or short trips. I Drive my 24 silverado HD for longer trips. I've driven it 11 hours down to FL and 8 hours up to Ohio in it already. Sure a EV will do it, but you add hours and several stops to the trip. Stops also take planning. Public charging is no cheaper than ICE. I can jump in my truck and just go without any of that. A 100k 1/2 ton siverado that costs MORE than my 2024 ZR2 HD, but is less capable and restricts your travel and towing in a lot of ways. All that with massive depreciation. Sorry but IMO, EV trucks are mostly for people who don't actually need a truck. 🤷
@@8ball_998 I have 2 teslas and drive from my house in Santa Barbara California to my house in Scottsdale Arizona and stopping for a fast charge is no big deal and doesn't cost as much as filling a gas car. I have a construction company and last yr i got a ford lightning and it works great. Pulls my dump trailer with no problem and i charge at night in my garage. No i wouldn't take it to Arizona but i don't need to. I will buy this chevy when it comes out and will take it to AZ... ford doesn't have the range of the GM
To late
I don't get the purpose of removing the rear window when you still have the bar in the way. I absolutely hate the large wheels. I would prefer an 18" wheel. I don't know why manufacturers insist on making EV's uglier than the gas models. I do like that the range is up, but won't be getting one at this price.
The electric vehicle market is saturated, with few new buyers. Perfect time to introduce another product few have any interest in.
Who said Avalanche
Who cares ... my get over it
Bolt ev front bumper is horrible
Put gas motor in it. EV are junk people don’t realize wait till something happens to it and cost to fix it. You can’t work on it yourself. Plus if I’m traveling I want fill up and go not sit and wait to charge up I want get to we’re I’m going and back home. It’s proven sucks towing and sucks big time for people like me that have super cold weather 5 to 6 months out year.. ALL THEY NEED STOP WITH ALL THE EV STUFF AND START WORKING ON FLYING VEHICLES 🤷🏽🤷🏽
They won’t work ,..just a waste
A Santa cruise bulked up
🤣🤣🤣 not even close
upgraded avalance
What the hell do you use to jack up a 9000lb vehicle?
Im not fan at all of ANY EV, but as the jack goes it would be same as for my 3500HD duramax, which is about 9Klbs
Didn't hear about a spare tire, that's why I mentioned it.@@marcelo403polo2
Chevy/GM has seats that are too small and they don't extend out unlike a lot of their competitors in various markets
no spare no thanks
Blah blah blah ... what a joke... more like you can't afford
I really hate to say it, but to be honest I can't wait for China to build an EV truck. Put these ridiculous American brands in their place when it comes to pricing. $120CAD? How about $40,000 for a simple truck with all that EV range and power.
That midgate is stupid. Complicated and after removing the glass there is still a bar that goes across the opening. And you'll never use it because in anything other than perfect California weather, it's going to be irritating to have a giant hole in the cab blowing freezing or hot air into the cabin. Nobody who owned an Avalanche ever used the midgate.
That bar is the tonneau cover which isn't mandatory and can be removed. The midgate is kind of neat but yeah on the Avalanche they tended to leak and rattle and between that small window and the sail panels visibility is reduced significantly. Not to mention it adds thousands to to the price. Years ago I thought I wanted an Avalanche but the compromises and price compared to a standard pickup weren't worth it. Not a good move by Chevy if they are trying to make this thing practical.
@@plmn93 GM tried this with the Avalanche because they figured they could do it because of the unibody design. Same thing with the new EV trucks. But it was a stupid idea back then, and is still bad. My friends that had Avalanches (not many) said the same thing you said, they leak and rattle. GM might have fixed that, but they are still not useful in 99% of cases. Having that large port also reduces cabin stiffness, which probably isn't a problem, but I'd rather have a stiffer body. Who is going to use the midgate during winter in cold areas or in summer in hot areas? GM should make it an option on higher trims like the sunroof.
Wow you are a negative Nancy 🤣🤣🤣 i better you would never own a convertible because it would be to complicate for you to operate 🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡
You don't have to remove the back window. The seats fold independently of the window, so you'll still be able to load sheets of plywood with the window in place. Close the tonneau, and all is well
🗑
Bottom line….The charging infrastructure for ANY EV is years away, period !
I can drive coast to coast in an EV. Repeating a lie doesn't make it true.
@@TroySavary good for you. Just don't make everyone to do what's good for you
