    “Order Simplification”. Translation: “To get the one or two options that you actually want you need to buy a multi-thousand dollar ‘simplified’ package that contains 90% stuff you don’t want but we make you pay for anyway”. These car companies truly honestly believe that people do not see through this bullshit.

      The vast majority of vehicles are ordered by dealers anyways, with certain packages and options that they feel would yield them the most traffic or profitability. All this is doing is moving that decision to the OEM from the dealer (though for that very small number who order their vehicles, it will have a certain effect depending on how those options are packaged in).

    To me, it's not which one is best on the trails. It's which one is good on trails, but good on long road trips, and good for towing, and good around town. Most of us can't own multiple trucks. We only get one, and that one has to do multiple tasks. The Raptor R is single focused, like a laser beam, on Baja type of road adventures. But I need a truck I can tow my trailer to Alaska comfortably. And then do some of the great off road driving in AK like the Top of the World and the Dalton Highway, leaving the trailer safely behind in Fairbanks or wherever.

    Different animals (Raptor vs Tremor...Not figuratively, just by design) (and very different costs if you are smart about it). It is interesting that last year when I ordered my 23 Tremor (I chose the Coyote so I could get it sooner, and another reason or two I will reveal shortly) (there was no price difference just a wait-time difference). The year before, the Coyote was the base model with the V-6 TT as an upgrade.
    People talk about all these problems with the Coyote, but I think Ford ironed most of those out, based on my experience. I get better combined mpg than my friends with the TT (I'm at about 20.9 over the last 3k miles since not using Sport Mode much and I live at almost 6,000 feet). I could probably write pages, but one of the reasons I bought the Coyote was because I planned to supercharge it...Then 20+ mpg happened. I'm a little conflicted right now. Another reason is that Toyota dropped the 5.7 and recovery hooks. I sold my 2013 Rock Warrior to my company, and it is the best truck in the fleet at my office. That truck had two major flaws...No rear locker, and bad mpg. Peace, Love!!

    Would I rather have a Raptor or Tremor? How about an XL with the rear locker for $13k less? A good lift kit and tires and you still come out ahead by several thousand dollars.

    • @imnotusingmyrealname4566
      @imnotusingmyrealname4566 Před měsícem +3

      Yeah these trucks are money printers for Ford. An XL with the Coyote, rear locker and some mods and you're cheaper off and way more capable.

    • @backwoodstherapy
      @backwoodstherapy Před měsícem +2

      @@imnotusingmyrealname4566agreed. I grabbed a Wrangler JLU Sport S a couple years ago for under $40k. Even after two lifts (first a cheap puck spacer lift, then a true suspension lift), a regear, 35s, some Willys takeoffs wheels, wheel spacers, Rubicon takeoff rock rails, fox steering stabilizer, shocks, and several other mods I can't think of, I'm in it for less than $10k in mods (spread out over the last 3 years) and well under $50k spent total. The new Rubis are going for like $60k, and I didn't have to finance an incredible amount to do it.

    I would liked to have seen BOTH trucks do the same things off-road and then both in the desert. Either one of these trucks can be fun, but wow, the prices are beyond mindboggling. I remember as a kid back in the '60s I told my dad that the way things are going a Ford pickup will some day cost over a 100-grand. Sadly I was right. Both are WAY OVER PRICED, especially the Raptor (and Raptor R), and are out of reach for most potential buyers. Which also makes me wonder if buyers who really can't afford one, buys one anyway, then beats the heck out of it for a year or two, and then sells it to get out from under the payments.

    Ford comes up with gimmick names like no other company I know of. Raptor. Tremor, Badlands, sasquatch. They don't creat a good vehicle then work to create different versions which then earn badges, as jeep does and did with the wrangler. The wrangler was the wrangler. Then they came out with Sahara, then Rubicon, then 392. Dodge had the challenger, came out with different built versions which they worked on for years. That's the way you earn a badge. Ford, on the other hand, creates five versions instantly and gives them badges that are outrageous and unworthy and unearned. I find this to be cringe on the part of Ford, and I don't understand how people fall for this stuff
