She probably never knew how her music impacted us in South Africa. As an art student involved in anti-apartheid protests during the 80's..Sinead's music inspired us young women to be fearless, brave and fight a then very violent powerful, racist and oppressive government. Somehow South African coloured kids connected very much with Irish singers/bands throughout that time. I have found that we shared similar struggles. Irish music and voices sound mystical, honest, longing and healing, connecting you to your pain but also the higher hopeful self. Our sister was so very brave when it wasnt cool to take a stand, being labeled as weird /creepy but so many more of us admired her. Throughout history almost always thinking for yourself, standing up against injustice and abuse leads to a very lonely painful existance. Thank You for using your platform to bring light where there was ignorance. We pray that her departed loved ones and the Angels of mercy now surround her. A year ago i was watching this and other videos of Sinead's work over the years. I felt so much grief for her on the loss of her son. I could imagine the pain and desolation she was going through and i knew in my heart she wouldn't survive much longer. The battles had taken thier toll on her. Through heartache or lifestyle her body and mind would rebel. She has left us some wonderful work. RIP. Sinead.

That's a fabulously understated take on a song that has invariably been belted out by opera singers or used as a vehicle by lesser pop singers to show how they can carry it. Sinead just went out, and confidently delivered a sweet and moving version. No pretence, no over reaching. She could have gone full Diva on it but she chose not to, and she was right.
OMG 😳😢 first time hearing this. The vulnerability in her voice is truly heartbreaking, she connected with this song and obviously had felt these emotions in her own life.

Only just stumbled upon this. What an ultimate performance. Sinead so sorely missed and still oh so loved forever. Am just 50+ years, have heards lots of music from lots of genres, and still O'Conners voice is - unfortunately past tense was - unique.
Sinead sung to those instruments as if they were biding her to release her uniqueness. I felt it touch me deeply especially knowing she has left us. RIP

A voice , a talent, all in a soul of such a person, so sad to lose her. We all as people at times sit alone at times have all or even have little in this life, but one thing we all need love. If only as a world of humanity can see eye to eye and see that love is what our heart's and soul needs. Sometime the death of one is what opens our eyes and hearts. With love and sorrow rest in peace may your spirit fly with doves to the heaven's. May all of humanity one day be able to unite with grace.
