The issue with Bojji dodging is that his father was known for strength not speed. Daida has the strength that's why he can fight normally and block, parry and do regular sword fighting moves. Bojji can't so he doesn't appear to "fight like a king".

The perspective of seeing a prickly evil stepmom only to realize she is just an overprotective, awkward but very loving parent is so well done in this show.

Queen Hiling went from bitchy step-mom to best mom ever in a single episode. Love her character and her interactions after this episode so much.

Hiling was just concerned about her son, and rightfully so, bojji is very kind and would be a good ruler, but at this point he still is too weak to gain the subjects respect, he has no strength, cant talk and is deaf, and the townspeople all see him as a lesser prince, for the sake of her kingdom and for bojji hilling just did what she should have done
the thing is she was never bitchy, sharp tongued but never bitchy, the earlier episodes just framed it that way. Like seriously, do not let 1st impressions fool you in this anime.

Yeah, once u know her character. She really is just an over protective mom, I mean even originally Hilling told Daida to be king specifically to take care of his brother. Before the whole mirror thing obviously.

The step mother does care about him she just doesn't think he's fit to be king due to his lack of strength and unable to talk if he becomes king other kingdoms might attack in a attempt to take over since the king is weak and unable to speak
Also she is overprotective of Boji and has high standards for Daida to be strong and independent. She went a little to extreme with raising both of her boys.
I like how the show throws so much information at you that the simple fact that the queen's name is Hiling ("Healing") eludes everyone until we see her heal Boji after his fall.

Ngl, I have enjoyed this series far more than I thought I would. Especially with all the chaos that ensues and a well done sense of not knowing exactly what’s going on.
This series is basically anime game of thrones, so be prepared for some dark episodes
I really think everyone misunderstands Hilling until she jumps out the window when since the beginning of the episode even when she she was talking down to him she was trying to give him a eye opener and is fearful for his wellbeing
Its not that hilling prefers her son more than bojji. Its just that she thought bojji was weak and deaf and wanted to protect him from the harshness of being a king. It's fucked but can you really blame her?

A mother will always protect his son, that's why she doesn't want boji to be the king because of the pressure and anxiety he'll experience especially if boji have disabilities.
This shows hiling truly cares for boji and only want the best for him even if it'll hurt his feelings.
Hilling is my favorite character. I just love how she's not the evil step mother who wants the throne for herself. She loves that boy like her son, I think she's just overprotective in a bad way. 1 detail I love is when the king is announced. Boji turned to her first before Domas, showing he has more trust on her and value her decision and reaction more.
This show is so good can’t wait for future reactions
The Hiling twist is what got me hooked in this show, i never expected that.

I feel like a problem people have when watching this is everyone wants Bojji to show up everyone that looks down on him. The problem is that reactors seem to forget that he's LITERALLY deaf, mute, and abnormally weak physically. No one in their right mind would truly think "Yes he's the best choice to lead an entire kingdom."
Also, I don't know about you 3 noticed but Hilling's last line said she felt like she wasn't going to see Bojji ever again and Deida. Her son Deida not to be confused with Domas.

After having those interactions with Hiling i really needed those flash back to fall in love with her... Best Queen, best stepmom and mad thicc
Hilling is easily my favorite support character in this title, she doesn't particularly has an active role all the time, but each time she has the focus she is the best.
The story managed to actually portray an interesting character through her, the 2nd queen who is the step-mother of the 1st prince and the biological mother of the 2nd. The show tricks you into thinking she is just the typical evil step-mother who wants Bojji dead and only supports her biological son, but she clearly loves Bojji as well.
There is so much playing into her actions, how she should act as a mother, step-mother and current queen. Ofc she loves Bojji, but she also has her own son, siding with Daida is just natural, but there is even more coming into play. The King died, and as much as She (and we) love Bojji, the truth is that until that moment Bojji hasn't showed any sign of being a capable king more than just being a good person, on the other hand Daida has shown he is more capable.
Yes, Hilling in this episode realized she DID grew colder to Bojji once she gave birth to Daida, but she still loves Bojji, and her reasoning of wanting Daida to be the King rather than Bojji is just logical as a mother, step-mother and Queen. Mother of two, the older too naive and with some limitations, the younger proved to be more capable, and a king to be ruled. Her way to both protect the Kingdom and her sons is just making the more capable one King while the "weaker" one being just inside the protection of the royal castle. That way the Kingdom is safe and both her sons will be safe.
Hilling doesn't hate nor underplays Bojji, is just that he hasn't proved YET to be able to be a capable king, ofc she thinks he can become a good man in the future, but that "faith" is not enough RIGHT now.
The show is about Bojji proving everyone his circumstances are not a limitation and that he xan be the best king ever, and once Hilling see his own potential, she will accept the idea as well. But before that time comes, she is just being the best queen/step-mother she can be.
The snakes become best boys and the evil queen is actually best girl. Truly revolutionary.

The whole sequence with the Demon hits different to people who're caught-up. It doesn't really explain much as of how far we are now, but it sure is interesting, puts a lot of things into perspective.

King Bosse made a deal with the demon. The deal was to make Bosse even stronger. The demon told him that one can't be given what doesn't exist. To gain more power, the demon would've taken the strength and power from a blood-relative, but at the time Bosse had no family, so the demon made him a deal that once he had a child then the child's strength would be transferred to him. Bosse took Bojji's potential strength the day he was born, it made baby Bojji small and weak and deaf, to which Bosse immediately regretted that decision, swore to build a kingdom where Bojji could live with ease regardless of his disabilities. The demon pointing to Bojji implies that there was probably a reason Bosse, or even the demon himself, wanted Bojji to inherit the throne. Bosse, this demon, and a mysterious woman named Miranjo all seem to work together while also having their own plans in the works. The demon is less-known of the three's intentions. It goes back and forth between who the pawns are and who the one in control, and who the real enemy, really is. Bosse was selfish, for sure, but for him to regret his decision with Bojji, seems to be unsure as to why or how he came to possess Daida through means of Miranjo and Apeas, and seems to be unaware of Miranjo being behind the death of the first queen; I have some hope for Bosse.

Miranjo was the one who made a way for him to get powers. Either way, the Demon is probably tied with the ousama rankings (I'm not sure if he ties in with the current underworld posse). Daida also looks like Miranjo's backup pawn to regain Bosse's power, tho yeah I don't know if Bosse knew that. This show is so interesting!

The hole thing about them not liking his fighting style is bc it’s not seen as how a king should fight you shouldn’t avoid blows and should connect weapons basically becomes a battle of strength what boji was doing seemed cowardly to them since he knew he would lose a battle of strength so he was dodging instead like he was running away from the fight
Well, in this episode they have not been explained that Ousama ranking isn't just a title of the show. One of the test is literally fight a stone golem.
I could be wrong but I think the second guy in Bojii's crew for his journey is the guy who had seen him dodge snakes in the past. That homie was the first one to believe in the power of the Side Step.

7:18 weirdly loved the ekans voice. Pretty good.
Basically with the sparring match. Boji was too weak to hurt his opponents. Which is fine in a sparring match but in a real battle he wouldn't be able to lift a sword and hurt his enemies. He would lose his regal qualities because he would just be seen as a sneaky trickster as opposed to his father who fought with absolute might.
Only seen the first three episodes but I’m not sure if the Queen turned on Boji because of her own son but more she became overprotective of him. Disabled children are sometimes held back because their parents are overprotective and don’t trust they can thrive by them-self and the parents own fear for their child’s safety. The Queen has more faith in her own abler bodied and more seemingly more capable son. However, this overprotectiveness becomes almost cruel.
I’m someone who has a minor hearing disability (I’m only a little bit deaf comparatively) and I find this show makes me cry every episode.
This anime is the embodiment of “don’t judge a book by its cover.” I really thought cuz of the wacky art style that it would be trash and boring, but I was so wrong.

I think Bebin probably thinks that Bojji has more of the personality needed for a great King but he just doesn't have the physical strength to rule/protect the kingdom so the only choice is for Daida to be king.
I thought the stepmother and brother were evil but not really. The younger brothers kinda rude but he doesn’t really want his brother dead. The queen cares about Boji but believes he’s just not up to the task and is weak. She healed him and actually cares

Lol, most people never remember Hokuro (the other guy travelling with Boji & Domas) from the last episodes. He was the only one who had any faith that Boji would have a chance at beating Daida, and he knew cause he watched him dodge all those snakes in the courtyard that one time. Basically he's Boji's #1 fan, which is why he requested to go with him and help him.

Wait no, you misunderstand why they said his fighting was bad. It wasn’t because he wasn’t strong enough. It was because he was not blocking the blows like Domas was. That’s why Domas said that Bojji isn’t using the swordsmanship of a king (Domas’ swordstyle is model after Bosse, which includes tanking and blocking blows). Bojji is using his own personal strengths, but because that is different than the normal kick, they consider it to dirty that he’s dodging instead of blocking. It had nothing to do with his strength, otherwise they would not have all said his swordplay is ‘dirty’.
From how i understood it. King Bosse became the king because of his strenth and his ability to overpower his enemies with heavy blows i think the kingdom started created a type of sword style that displayed or immitated how King Bosse fights which is why people were "annoyed" with how Boji was fighting because it totally goes against how the knights and swordsmen are trained to fight. While king bosse, prince daida and boji's trainer all possess the "furiosity" of king bosse's style boji fights with an elusive style which is seen as cowardly to them thus stripping him from his "royal claims".

The thing that got me with this show was how deep each of these characters actually are, from their personality to their motivations.
See spear guy, that's what useful looks like, you stick the pointy end into your opponent.
As you saw the Devil snatched King Bossu's soul hinting he isn't not as clean as the kingdom thinks.
The way I see it is because this kingdom was founded by a giant warrior king, the kingdom and its people believe strength is an important quality to being king and a warrior. Skill is secondary and or just not really recognised. Being capable of matching or overpowering the strength of an opponent is the proper and honorable way of fighting. Any other way is improper fighting or 'cheating' as they said
