Ranking of Kings is hella underrated
It may look childish but it’s hella fire and honestly really dark when it needs to be
Not really in my place alot of people like it tho
I feel like the childish art style actually ruined the parts that were supposed to be dark or depressing for me.
It's conflicting cuz it really suited the heartwarming and emotional parts 😅

Tho I do get where you’re coming from sometimes it’s hard to take some characters seriously with their goofy designs 😅
@@slothwarrior446 I think the last part of what u said is precisely why those things just don't work for me.
The demon design was fine for me I think because it was appropriately cartoony for its very classic/traditional design. But the liquifying father + beheading Phoenix were surprising, but in the way that it just completely broke my immersion in every way. Kage's backstory was the same for me in ep 2. Both were almost like unintentionally hilarious and I couldn't help but laugh because I couldn't get over the striking contrast between the style and what was happening.
Because of the art style, I just never see a sense of brutality or viscerality even when what's happening is something brutal or visceral.
I also almost feel like it makes it difficult for me to take characters srsly precisely because the show portrays a lot of them as multi-dimensional thru the story itself. The thing about cartooney art styles though is that the characters appearance is supposed to embody their primary personality trait or attitude. It's *built* for simplicity. So i even just have trouble taking the complexity of the story and characters seriously also.
Obvsly it's all a me thing since the majority seem to like it. It's just a bummer cuz I went in wanting to love it, and did love the start after ep 2, but just quickly lost interest within the next 6 eps because of these reasons.
I also do have some story issues but that's another discussion lol.

The second opening of Ranking of Kings is one of the most visually stunning openings I've ever seen.
It genuinely makes me admire a scenery I'm not there to see and touches my heart in a way I can't explain
IT'S FIRE!!!! Ousama Ranking is one of the best 2022 anime of the year. It should've been in the votes. It's openings should've been one of the top spots!

This Anime truly a Masterpiece when it comes to story telling and characterization.
This show's story had me genuinely crying by the 2nd episode, that is how good the story is. The fact that even with no context, the 1st opening had you rooting for the MC was really great to see.

The title Naked Hero is referring to the very first episode called The Prince's New Clothes. It's a reference to The Emperor's New Clothes, in which tailors tricked an emperor to walk outside among his people naked, even though they told him it was an amazing outfit.
Through the song Naked Hero, it's saying the prince doesn't need anything to be strong. He already is.
Kage, the blob with eyes, is a shadow. Kage's "claw" helps him properly communicate with Boujji, since the prince is deaf.
Once you watch the first half of the series, the second opening is going to hit you so much harder.
This anime is a sleeper hit for SURE. It's very good and it surprised me with how good the story is.
The first song is a straight BANGER. I tend to play it on the background whenever I'm working. Glad you liked it. Fun fact: The opening director for the second one is also the art director for chainsaw man.

No doubt op 2 is op of the year for 2022 highly recommend doin reactions for AT LEAST ep 1 and 2 that end of ep 2 hits every time
If you search what means the lyrics of the 2nd op you'll find it talks about protecting the people he loves and that he don't need strength to face what's happening but Love and it's fuckin' beautiful
Been awhile but I'm pretty sure I cried by the end of the first episode. If not then definitely the 2nd. Very unique show.

i definitely prefer Naked Hero, as i'm a Rock/Metal guy, though i am versatile and have liked a lot of different genres, only music genre i outright dislike is Country and there's even a few songs that i can vibe with that are Country.
