A time-lapse video showing iodine diffusing into a piece of dialysis tubing and staining starch while starch is retained inside the tubing. Re-uploaded to fix a typo. Camera used: Nikon D3300
easy the concentration within the permeable membrane was less therefore the iodine diffused in due to have a small molecular size. The starch was unable to diffuse out as the molecular size was to large to pass through the membrane. The iodine reacted with the starch creating a blue black color within the tubing only
because the dialysis bag is semi-permeable so the starch molecules are large and can't come out but water molecules are small so they can be passed through it and so the iodine passed as well. hope answered the question.
A simple yet effective video with great music!
@Adam you dont have to be so rude
ayee we did this in my bio class
anybody else here cuz of bio teacher?
Me
No it's my science teacher
This was much more interesting AND entertaining to watch than what’s trending on CZcams right now
love ur pfp and user
I came here cuz my bio teacher sent it.

yup samw
Why did the iodine diffuse into the starch solution starting at the bottom left and working its way up?
Most of the iodine sank down to the bottom, so there was a higher concentration on the bottom which speeds up the iodine diffusion.
@@sci-inspi thanks for the answer!
What's the name of the background music? Great experiment by the way
What happened in terms of molecular size and relative concentrations? Need this explanation for my Bio class.

@@GOGEDIT Oh hey ,thanks I really needed the explanation for writing a scientific report ,the discussion part . 😊
That was awesome bro doci
How this experiment related to osmosis?
would changing the temperature of the water would affect the experiment?
Yes, warming up the water will increase the diffusion rate.
@@sci-inspi won't it shrink? i mean the bag?
Very cool! What is your source for music? I like this tune
That's actually him playing. He has a Spotify tho
So nice to watch
Very interesting ☺
Why did the starch molecules not diffuse out of the dialysis bag?
because the dialysis bag is semi-permeable so the starch molecules are large and can't come out but water molecules are small so they can be passed through it and so the iodine passed as well. hope answered the question.
Sorry to ask AGAIN. What do you think would happen if the beaker got larger? so interested
If the beaker is larger, not much will change. But if there is more water in the beaker, that will dilute the iodine and slow the rate of diffusion.
How can I purchase the dialyzis membrane tube. This material can also available in Tamil Nadu plz reply sir
How did you make the starch solution for this?
so on this experiment which one is solute? im confused....
Stach and Iodine. The solvent is water.
What is actually a common sense explanation for this experiment?
Can i separate glucose from solution by using this?
very good video thanls
where did you buy your dialysis tubing?
can I use a normal cellophane for this experiment?
I bought it here: www.carolina.com/dialysis-tubing/dialysis-tubing-1-34-in-x-100-ft/684226.pr?question=684226
why did it change co
colour?
So what is happening in this video
Is it made up of cellphane ?
Yes it is
What kind of diffusion? (Is it simple, facilitated, or active diffusion?)
simple diffusion
What’s the song
I made it. it's called "Dialysis Tubing" and you can get it on Spotify.

Please, write a model and a pore diameter of the sack!
so what substance was entering the bag in order for it to change ?
water and iodine
