- This was filmed leaving a car show one day - too bad there was traffic, although I'm sure the Hellcat would have beaten me - we WILL race one day once I get some traction issues sorted out - enjoy
Nothing can ever beat the sound of old muscle cars
S197 Jet you are correct mate.
You spelled Rotary wrong.
S197 Jet they just had a sound that I can only explain as the combination of thunder with the roar of a Lion...fucking unbelievable.
100% factual truth. I have a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack Shaker. It's gotta healthy dose of hemi power from the naturally aspirated 6.4L...love the exhaust even at stock. I have plan's of doing some work once warranty is up header's, cam, supercharger...but no matter what still these classic muscle car's man they have an un-matchable exhaust note & mighty rumble
@@CJColvin EXCEPT A LS1, LS2, LS3, ECT 😀, LS9, LSA, LS6, LT1, LT2, LT4, LT5, L86, L8T .🍕
When he hit that button to open the exhaust you know the games stop
Lol when i heard that i thought, GAME OVER!! That thing is SICK!!!
I will take the 70 over the new hellcat ANY DAY!!!!
surf403 same with me
Literally expected this to be the first comment in this section
surf403 hell yeah
surf - OK, but do realize that we are in the second muscle car era of my lifetime and that Hellcat will be a very sought-after monster in 50 years. These are the good old days again.
no it isn't the good old days again and it will never be close.
My dad had the same car but with the 340 and he fuel injected it. Original brown and original interior redone. Daily driven, driven to the track, car shows. It got so many looks. He ended up getting very sick while doing a pro street build and he passed away. We had to sell the car in pieces but luckily a fellow car club guy bought it all and built it. Miss that car and my dad.
My sincere condolences on you loss
It's got to suck when you're sitting in a Hellcat and you can't even hear it running all you hear is that beast of a hemi next to it
Uh.....I don’t think it EVER sucks to be in a Hellcat🙄
You think that it will suck to be in a Hellcat?
Hellcat = stock mufflers
Hemi cuda = long tube headers it sounds like & straight pipe
Do your research son before you say what sucks cause your mom isn't in the conversation so no one is doing any sucking at the moment
Quiet car seems like a good thing
From the interior
What’s even more funny is how dick hurt you got when he dissed a hellcat, you must be real far from owning one.
Old muscle ,sounds better, looks better.Just plain better.with added power is also faster!!!
That's not old muscle, well the chassis is but the power plant is a modern day 528 CI crate engine. So in all reality it has a modern powertrain, so it has to be looked at a little differently. But I am sure that it is carbureted and because of the cars age, it wouldn't need catalectic converters so it sounds better. Just sayin
Spaniard Martinez Amen brother.
Its the non computer controlled engine that makes it sound better. I notice that even the hellcat engine revs up and then revs down slowly because of pollution control. Its that long return to idle that takes away some of that classic mucle car sound.
And it’s FAR from a crate engine (as our president would say:) BELIEVE ME 👌
We need the EPA to pull back the ridiculous cafe standards Barry put into effect.
That Cuda definitely showed that hellcat who deserves the throne
That mean ass cuda turned that hell cat into a hello kitty
I recognize that location. Once upon a time around 1976ish at the tiny intersection of Davis on Hwy 26, we took on a Mach 1 with our 69 Super Bee. Love them Dodges.
I got the V6 version called the Meerkat.
Hilarious.
I thought v6 "muscle cars" were called Queercats? I drove a '96 mustang v6 in high school...lost track of the amount of times i was called queer/fag. If I could see their faces now with what I've got, souped up '07 Mustang GT and a '69 Roadrunner with a warmed up 440 sittin under the hood (thank you Uncle, you'll always be remembered when she hits the roads)
Pussy cat
@@falcon6995 It runs 14's goes 150mph and gets 30mpg. I;m 6'4' and 245 and I have plenty of room. All that for 24K. What's not to like
@@captjim007 EXACTLY, nothin wrong with v6 muscles lol. Besides the sound of course😔
And then a real HEMI shows up!!
OLD SCHOOL all the way!...I had a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 BIG BOY back in 1975 in my sophomore year until my brother wrapped it around a tree in 1990....😥
The difference is the 70 Cuda has a real Hemi Engine and Zero Power Adder's...
@snappypappy,You are 100%correct with your comment!!
@@spaniardmartinez6896 really?what’s that cam for? Just for sound, I guess. lol.
@@lewisshepard9239 a cam actuates the valves, and is not considered a power adder. A "power adder" is forced air induction, such as a turbocharger or supercharger, or NO2, which adds power by virtue of the O2 incorporated into the NO2 molecule which is "added" to the intake pathway of the engine. lol.
@@kidsteach938 I hope you’re just being sarcastic, but if not you’re dead wrong. A dual point distributor, headers, bigger carburetor and I could go on and on. There not as big of a power adder as the ones you mention, but all the same they are power adders.
@@kidsteach938 no no, it only adds roughly 100 hp if you get the right cam they aren’t power adders lmao.
my new favorite video.. nothing like watching a classic Cuda tear up the streets!! Old school rocks!!
That red car looks and sounds bad ass .
Challenger have the best sound ever and looks much aggressive

John Flores cuda
John Flores Your comment made me think of my Dad's 1970 AAR 'CUDA 340 6-PAK, tags read: "1BDFISH". 😀😎
Sounds like a lion breathing.. damn my heart is dancing.
Hellcat is real nice, but that old cuda is the king of the fish👍
The sound of that Cuda coming through my speakers is Heavenly
The guys in the Hellcat: "Oh, wow, this is insane!"
The guy in the Cuda: "No, THIS is insane!"
My jaw dropped when the Cuda opened the cutout valves
I have driven both years of cars and will take the ability to steer and stop over the retro look/sound any day. My hemi just got 25.3 MPG vs the 8-10 your gonna get with a 70s era.
NOT “retro-look” .... that’s what the new ones are ... it is THE ACTUALCLASSIC ... the actual legend .... it set the bar ..... respect your daddy.
@@1badhaircut I will correct my statement. I have driven both generations of the Challenger and for me I prefer the modern tech over the legendary styling. Keep in mind that what made those cars legendary was the HP which modern OEM cars have exceeded. There really is no comparison between the generations. IMO
@@clipperbob960 I understand why you can’t understand ..... you unfortunately didn’t experience the muscle care ERA when we and these cars were daily warriors at every traffic light ... day and night. You have their namesakes but not the legends themselves that they were named after. Or know the WHY. I probably raced more times in 1 weekend than you have ever. There were more muscle cars on the street than SUVs today. We didn’t think about ... steering ... stopping ... comfortable A/C ... we just raced our asses-off 😃 - I know you think because today’s cars are more advanced things are better .... no, we LIVED AN ORGY OF STREET AND STRIP BATTLES ..... like you can’t possibly imagine. Sorry you missed the party - it was amazing - but you do have your MPG. At 30 cents a gallon we didn’t care.
Now that's the real hemi not a half a hemi!!!!
Glen Parks OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
The Cuda doesn't have a hemi in it
A quarti?
yes it is a Hemi
Which car sounds more like the one you want? Ray Barton is a Hemi mad scientist. Big cubes , huge torque. Neck snapper.
Yes he is!✌🏻️
I think I'm going to retire my old 440 for the 528 Hemi. I love that sound
I’ll keep you posted if I sell the 440
They Start at 15,000
Damn the Cuda just drowned out the Hellcats sound you could'nt even hear the Hellcat anymore when he pulled up. He got ghost too.
Nice to see American Hotrodding picking back up again.
We don' need no stinkin' supercharger! :)
Ray Barton does many things quite well. But, there's that one thing, they do dang perfect.
The absolute mean ass sound of old muscle with open headers is so badass
Oh man I love that exhaust note, I sure wish that our late model hot rods sounded that good. I've got a set of fat 3" SLP Loudmouth Cat-back pipes on my Challenger SRT8, and it sounds great but not anywhere close to the classic Mopars that I've owned.
You see a Hellcat every day....just saying. Love the Cuda.
That was just a snort from the CUDA, I want to see it take a deep breath!
The correct CAM matter's a lot, depending on what your doing with the vehicle .
Absolutely....and especially with HEMI head architecture and their opposed valve layout. Valve events are critical to get the most out of HEMI style engines.
If you like cars in general how can you not like this 🤷♂️
Damn exciting opening video of the dash board!!! well done.
That's my dad driving the hellcat! I always hear a lot about that specific cuda too :D
At 1:48 Music to my ears!😊💕
Me too.. that’s the 14 year old Hemi sound. It’s been up at Ray Barton Racing Engines since September (sitting in line) to be rebuilt. I put Holley EFI on it & over did it in tuning & testing 😳
44 GM jerks gave a thumbs down.Chrysler’s greatness is unstoppable.
Not this “GM jerk”. Both of these cars are INSANE.
That 70 is so sweet. Sounds awesome!
Hot Damn!! that's one bad ass Cuda'
My uncle owned a Cuda!! That shit was clean and freaking loud.
Ray Barton builds the nastiest HEMIs on the planet. I would love to own one! The ultimate street machine engine.
Both rides are bad ass, but yes nothing like the old school stuff, where it all began. Rock on my dudes
Take the Cuda =)
I love the modern Challengers for what they are: good looking retro modern cars with tons of power, usable space for everyday practicality, modern suspensions, and luxurious interiors. But man, there's just something about those old Mopars that's unbeatably cool that the new cars can't match. Especially with huge overbored and stroked Hemis!
OLD HEMI Cuda, challenger they Looked better , they just didn't have Steering or Breaks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the new ones do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thats the diff.🙄
@@mikestanly749 that's an easy fix
Most beautiful ever made !!
Wow! North Richland Hills off 820/Airport FWY. COOL!!!
Thumbs Up and Happy 4th of July.
Sweet rides fellas...
It's all shit's & grins until the 70 Cuda wipes the strip with Hellcats Ass!..
Damn that hemi Cuda sounds good
Hellcat is keeping the legacy alive
Bad machines man that's bad ass
Love that old Mopar sound.
❤️ this big difference between a Challenger and a Charger 🎶 some newer even have the dashboard that reflects on the windshield Camero 😎
💯 Nice ride :)
The red car is a 1970 Barracuda, not a Charger. Those are 2 very different body styles.
That 70 Cuda with the Ray Barton gots some cuchunkachuck going on with that cam...Barton makes some of baddest Hemi Cuda's in drag racing & his street hemi is no slouch either
Cuda sounds awesome with the cut outs
There ain’t nothing like an old school muscle car👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Be Funny That Cuda Makes That Hellcat Knock Sensors Act Up While That Close Bahahahha
Two bad ass cars. Cut outs are fun.
I prefer building a fast car versus just buying one.
Finally someone said it
GenIII vs GenII...GenII ALL THE WAAAYYYY!!!
70 is sweet no doubt, I had a hellcat challenger for 3 years, 6 speed, oddly enough I dont miss any of this type of thing, 50 years old so maybe had my fill.
That Cuda is bad ass!
Sounds like a 440 with a set of indy heads. Badass motors
old muscle rules and you know it always will!
Chug chug chug chug chug chug... LOVE IT!!!
wow some sound :-)
You know those Hellcats are no comparison 😮
Love it!!!
OLD SCHOOL MUSCLE 💪
A Ray Barton 528 Hemi must have set that guy back a few bucks. I used to pass Ray’s engine shop in central PA often while on business.
Dominic Toretto approves that 70 Cuda!!
That Hemi powa...sheeesh🤟
You can tell passenger was scared of the old Cuda growl lol
does it say hellcat on the car somewhere?
Borla (and others) make great sounding exhausts for every vehicle
Im assuming that's your Cuda.. I have a 72 Cuda an I have few questions about swaping in a large Ci Hemi like you have done. If your so kind as to be ok with a couple questions id really appreciate it. if not that's fine :)BEAUTIFUL Cuda you got there tho...wow
Yes.. it is mine. I’ve actually done considerable upgrades since this video was taken. I have the Hemi K-frame & matching oil pan from this car for sale along with the tank to carbs fuel system.. it now has the AlterKtion suspension & Holley EFI..
Gen2 hemi is the best motor ever
That hellcat had nothing for that 70 Cuda In a 1/4 mile!!
Im going towards getting a hellcat in life someday. But if i see a Cuda and its for sale and it runs fine im buying the cuda no question
Hellcats are really nice but Hemi Cuda is something truly special. Anyone can go into a dealership and buy a Hellcat it takes a real car person to nurture and preserve a real muscle car it's more a labor of love. I know someone else already commented this but I'm going to reiterate it, a modern vehicle with all the computer technology you are very much disconnect from the actual feel of the car, an old car or muscle car you actually have to become one with the machine you can actually feel the machine with a new car lots and lots of that are filtered out and computer over ridden.
AMEN ROGER
And then he reaches down and opens the cutouts!!
That is amazing sounding car it’s got to suck when something that old makes your car sound like a kitty 🐱 compared to the roar that’s coming off that car
Beautiful cars. Used to be a street racer, and wouldn't trade my past for anything. Got in way too much trouble. Took over twenty yraers to clean up my record. Now I wont drive anything bigger than a six cylinder. Lucky to to be alive L.O.L.
Beautiful car, good ole Ray Barton Hemi Ray builds the best Hemi engines. What size tire you running in rear?
Thanks- 285/45/17 definitely not enough
is that an aluminium 528 Hemi? I've actually spoken to ray and he told me they don't make cast iron any more. if so hows that aluminium engine holding up?
c.w Dervin - it's a 2004 iron Mopar mega block.. it's going back to be freshened soon. (13years old now) It's been a great engine.. no complaints!
iron block!! lucky man. all aluminium now. I've been hearing good stuff about aluminium ray barton but the thought of cast iron is awesome.
Listen to that thing man.
Love the Cuda
whether the old or new, lets just be grateful that muscle cars are still in existence. I"m afraid in the near future electric cars are going to be a threat to our "combustion engines" that we love so much! I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!
Not with our third world electrical infrastructure
Not before the rapture
Old-school schooling.
Very Good!..
You know it’s right when it sounds like it’s cuttin out
Nice old 'Cuda' cool that he kept the stock wheels unless he had them widened? I will take either, new cars do have their advantages when you drive an old one
Another day in paradise.....
Old school rules!!
Here is another Ray Barton 472 Race Hemi that sounds just as good!.
OH BABY! SING TO ME!
This is in North Richland Hills Texas. 2 miles down the road from me.
Lovely....🍿
