    Hrm. I'm pretty sure opening up all the containers every 15 minutes is going to have a different and drastic impact on the various cookers.

      Right. The sun oven website for example says everytime the door is opened 15 minutes should be added to the cooking time. Likely it is just reaching cooking temperature in this video and then it keeps getting opened up and resetting the temperature.

    THE BEST comparison video. All cooking the same dish, in the same outside conditions, at the same time, and showing temp readings. You can't deny the Gosun Sport's greatness regardless if this is a Gosun video. He even put the cornbread into the Gosuns last, that's confidence in your product. 🙌🏾

      @@terezqua I have 4 GoSun Go's, 1Sport, and 1Fusion... the Go's have a slightly smaller diameter tube than the Sport... I have baked eggs in shells in both the the Go and Sport... the Sport loads regular large eggs easily... the Go can take smaller large eggs if the tray is replaced with just the cap... the Sport can load 4 frozen corndogs, the Go can load 2 frozen corndogs... the Sport is a tiny bit faster than the Go. Not a whole lot of difference... I have used pairs of Go's for frozen corndogs and cooking in half to one hour depending on weather... the Go can keep food warm for hours... and it is easier to deploy a Go. A Go style shell for a Sport would be a nice upgrade in Sport design.
      As far as the panel cookers in the test... I did DYI funnel cookers before I ever bought my GoSun cookers... I knew not to open them before you smell the food smelling done...opening them can double the time it takes to cook...easily. I did start using a Pyrex bubble and handle less black sauce pans... for things like stews... a couple Pyrex pie plates and a black frozen lasagna in them... I did brown the lasagna more than intended. But cooking time tended to be a couple hours... but the cost was less than $50... that was a first step to GoSun and beyond... it may cost thousands, but I can do PV induction solar cooking...

    With a paraboloid mirror grill, you need a lid. Otherwise, you incinerate the bottom, and don't cook the top. Frying would work, except, there might be a spattering problem. Eye and hand protection is necessary. For a wide variety of volumes and shapes, a large paraboloid mirror/grill with lidded pots is best. For small meals and portability, go-sun sport is apparently best.

  • @masturbates
    @masturbates Před 2 lety +3

    I suspect the depth and shape of each pan would substantially affect cooking. The unique shape of the sport has to allow for something like batter to cook more efficiently. I'm not sure I'm convinced it would be as effective for other foods. Having to work your recipes and dishes around the elongated, tube shape would limit many options, while most of the other sun cookers wouldn't be affected by this.

      Black pots with black or glass lids. The thinner the metall, the faster. Black pottery pots, starting in a cold box-type oven take longer but also hold heat longer. Black enamelled pots work fine, too. Looks like he also uses some black silicone tupperware pots - I have no experience with those, though. Very interesting experiment to me, as I am interested in something that will cook food, might also bake and of course boil water but be safe and easy enough to handle and clean for either an older person or someone with "clumsy, twitchy" fingers.

    the worse things about the sport is getting the food out in a decent looking manner, the inability to keep the flavor separate even when using foil separation between things, No real cooking trays for it (the little silicone muffin cup things don't work for most things) I've used it a few times and I have to rate it as Great to have as an emergency back up but merely OK for normal use...not a first choice. I would probably be happier with the old grill or the new fusion as the cooking area seems better suited for actual meals instead of amusing picnics.
    abusing the box oven by constantly opening it is like abuse a slow cooker by constantly opening it. It ruins the cooking.
    I've never used the parabolic.

    • @bmedve3427
      @bmedve3427 Před 2 lety

      I do wonder about the Sport one, so this is good to know. I'd probably use them side by side: the box oven for the stew-type meals that do start to smell of rice or vegies when they are done and the glass misting up a bit is another good sign, and the Sport maybe for frying cut up meat, baking bread rolls in the silicone forms, or boiling water fast?

    The solar ovens that had.. 130 degrees? Might as well just put the food on the dash with the windows up. I am an avid supporter of GoSun and have accumulated many of their products, after watching this, looks like i need to add a GoSun Sport to complete my Overlanding/Glamping setup. I love the fusion because if you have electricity to use like the GoSun Powerbank or just your car battery, you can dual fuel it and decrease the warm up time... (with some caution as it is not advised on sunny days and clouds are always moving where i live) can i post a 15% off coupon for you? AMBASV will get that for you.
