I think this is awesome. I hate the setups that require a battery to be charged only to then charge another one. I only typically commute like eight miles a day, three days a week. In normal driving conditions I could basically never pay for power. Super cool.

What is the current status of production on this. They want $100 to hold a position for a year from now...we need the power now...do you have a factory or work place yet that has a steady supply? I just asked the AI and they haven't delivered anything...but they presold $2,000,000 worth of units they can't produce yet.

I had to give up on a venture to make something like this for my Clarity because I didn't know that if the panels receive different amounts of power, the lowest denominator (V or A depending on serial or parallel) is the controlling V or A, so how did Go Solar beat this?

I don’t think most people will use this. Sounds great but the wind resistance from the side mirrors are a huge factor on range. Imagine roof racks and this thing on the roof. You might gain a few miles that counter the miles you waisted just having it but the time spent unloading and loading it will soon weigh on you. Especially after your realize those tall buildings will cast shadows on the panels and significantly reduce its effectiveness. That and you can’t park in covered parking so your car has to bake in the sun. So your car is hot. I think most ppl would rather just charge it like normal with the freedom of parking anywhere with no loss in range.

Can you add more battery to extend range? Also, can you double amount of solar panels on top to have 4 instead of 2? Thanks

I like the concept and the simplicity, but $3000 is too high. It should be around $1500. China will copy and make soon way more cheaper. 2025 is a big change.

Great idea in theory, but a number of things make this impractical - in order to get any real use out of this (i.e. extended range), you need to be sitting in the same place for several days; the most likely case for being in the same place for several days is when traveling, like camping, but the solar charger eliminates roof rack space; while the extra mileage is nice, in order to get a return on investment you would have to use this daily for several years. Nice to have if there is an apocalypse and I wanted to keep driving my EV, but otherwise hard to justify.

I'm wondering what is bigger. The loss from the drag because of the roofbox or the gain from the maybe 1kw solar? 🤷‍♂️
