I love how you guys always make me wanna pick up the sticks again. Looking forward to hearing if you made it in to the line, best of luck!
Fingers crossed 😅😅😅
I went to college in Atlanta and saw some great marching bands from across the South. I wasn't expecting you to do a full Devon on this but I had hoped to see a bit more of your own swag. Good luck on your audition. I'll be watching for the update.
I don’t think I have enough swag to put my own swag on it, but we’ll see what happens!
I know I'm late but I'm so glad you guys are uploading again. I don't know what is keeping you guys from uploading but whatever it may be, I wish you all the best!
Got busy, had to prioritize other things in life, but we're back in full swing! Tons of new videos comin in hot!
That snare is freakin cranked!
To the moon
Shit yea.. crushed it!! Would've been hilarious if you just did the audition to the Drumline movie and seen if they picked up on it.
Bahahahaha yeah they probably would have noticed but maybe not 😂😂
I would LOVE to watch the rest your "Drumline" series videos where you would transcribe the parts that you've learned by ear.
More of that coming too!
@@ApexPercussion
AWESOME!!!
Looking forward to it.
(I understand that those videos can take a really long time to make, but they're awesome!)
Good luck!!!
Thanks 🙏🏼 we will need it
Definitely auditioning for a top notch line.. my snare 'mentor' in high school graduated and marched snare at bethune cookman and this looks very similar to their writing and visual style lol.
Yeah they’re nasty
Was that the full uncut?
I'm rooting for you man, that would be awesome
The last exercise was, just picked the interesting parts from the others, no need to hear 8s for 3 minutes lol. We submitted a drumming only video to the actual drumline
@@ApexPercussion okay, well I would have watched the full drum video, I've always loved marching snares. I was in a canadian highlanders based cadets when I was young. We did the Scottish bag pipes and drums style marching band
The Snare drum sounds good! Has the bottom head been replaced yet are it still holding up?
Still hangin in there! May need to switch it out soon though, been like a year
I have def lost my chops , awesome , I love it
Sonya is probably secretly a snare god, can’t fool us
@@ApexPercussion hahhahaha I wish but I can hold my own . I never was a good music reader so I could memorize way better . Now a days I can’t even remember we someone’s phone number lol
I'm still waiting to see you put down the music and play what drumline shows in the band room when he says I'm just trying to put down some stuff in my head and the two battle at each other
That’s a highly requested one for sure, maybe we should do that next??
It's interesting how different HBCU drumlines are down here (I live in New Orleans) I came up through one in middle and highschool. The drums are tuned incredibly low, we used upright single tenors and dotted bass drum heads that sound like someone punching a sheet of paper.
Very unique sound.
The grip, which I still use and swear by to this day is very loose but controlled. Actually very reminiscent of what old school fife and drum guys would use, for those animal skin heads.
Okay sorry for the rant. Goodluck!
Yeah such a cool style and sound!!
Ahhh u were in a swac line
Any news on the audition process?

It’s call being old school. This is what Drum Corps use to be like back in late 60s early 70s before Carriers. HBCU’s have a mix of both new and Old School.
Old school look up Jackson State University (War and Thunder), Prairie View A&M Marching Storm Drum (The Box) Southern University Human Jukebox (Funk Factory)
Florida A&M University (Z28 Drumline)
Texas Southern University (Funk Train)
New School look up North Carolina A&T University (Cold Steel) Norfolk State University (Million Dollar Funk Squad)
Bethune Cookmen University (Sudden Impact)
Any update on this. Did you hear back at all.
Audition reveal at 35k subs!
You wouldn’t make it in Norfolk State University Line (a lot of head movement) but North Carolina A&T would be great for you.
By the style and technique it doesn’t look like you auditioned for a SWAC drumline, looking really MEACish lol I want to say NC A&T because the sticking and visuals look really similar but they’re not in the MEAC anymore. So I’ll take a guess and say either Norfolk or VSU. Orrrr probably Bethune? 🧐🧐🧐
Nate, I think you know a lot more about all the different styles than we do 😅 out here just learning and doin our best, some solid guesses!
It's funny you say NC A&T. I thought the same based not on the sticking and visuals but on how long it took him to say the name of the school they bleeped out at the beginning of the video lol.
The only band in the SWAC who plays at this type of style is Bethune Cookman ALABAMA STATE Prairie View. The rest of SWAC Drumlines SU JSU Alcorn and so on and so on have the same Sticking Techniques. So if it’s not one of those 3 schools then it’s definitely a MEAC School
Bethune Cookman moved to the SWAC with FAMU
@@ApexPercussion lol most definitely, good luck!! I’m looking forward for the update 🙏🏾
U are good
Thx
update vid???

@@ApexPercussion YESSIRRRRR we've been waiting!!
more drumline memorizing and playing tutorial videos
Ok but only if you say please
@@ApexPercussion please master ahaha
Norfolk or Virginia state?
Good Question 👍🏽. I'm from VA and NSU is my favorite HBCU. Alot of members march DCI. He'd fit right in with the MDFS.
Maybe so maybe so 👀
Looks like your auditioning for NCAT lol
Not this time 👀
PVAMU?
bro I WENT to IVC. That was a jumpscare
YESSSSSSS the one man who found the easter egg!!!!
Not to be mean and rude but the only thing I saw wrong with this was that echo of the snare drum but other than that I give you a 10/10
That’s totally fair 😂 the woods don’t always make for the best sound booth
I hear some SWD inspired beats…I’m gonna guess Drumline 3🤔
The movie?? Is that a thing?
@@ApexPercussion no lol
Did you make it ?
