    Until 2020 May, India believed China to be gentle giant, grunting now and then and not doing much to threaten us. Little wonder that entire stretch of northern border was sparsely covered by the army and other paramilitary forces. Perhaps Bharat is the only large country in the world with so much uncertain border with all the neighbours. I am glad that this government is alive to these weaknesses and taking steps to remedy them.

    • @JohnSmith-vn8dm
      @JohnSmith-vn8dm Před 4 měsíci +1

      It was certainly a strategic mistake to think China would be gentle, given their history of violence and oppression. But to be fair this is an ideological mistake made since Nehru who wanted to emphasize pan-Asian solidary and anti-colonialism. The era of colonialism is long gone, now this is an era of great power competition.
      The important thing to remember about great power competition is the importance of geography. History is replete with examples of established great powers and rising neighboring states engaging in conflict. The Franco-Prussian War, Russo-Japanese War, Russo-Turkish War, Great Northern War, etc are just some examples. Even the Arthashastra details something similar to this dynamic with the rajamandala and concentric rings of enemies and allies.
      But there is one exception, one case where great powers are able to cooperate. And that is when they are separated by distance. Meiji Japan is a great example of this, they signed treaties with France and even formed an alliance with Britain. And outside of their direct conflict with Russia (neighboring Great Power) they only had cool relations with Germany, which had East Asian colonial ambitions. If we were to extend this to India's case, this would mean it should cooperate with the US and Russia to keep Asia multi-polar.
      Meiji Japan carries a second important lesson. They were pragmatic, not ideological. It was largely through attracting foreign capital, adoption of Prussian technology, and educational exchange that Japan managed to modernize so quickly. It's previous isolationism left it as an undeveloped backwater but it was able to develop into an industrialized rising power in just a few decades using this strategy. Despite this affinity for Germany, they did not ally with Germany, but France and Britain instead.
      The CCP also copied this technique and favored pragmatism over ideology. After the Deng Xiaoping era they have arguably had an ultra-realist foreign policy, without any trappings of asian solidarity or anti-colonialism. Despite the historical enmity with Japan and the use of anti-Japanese sentiment in CCP propaganda Deng built on the previous normalization of ties with closer relations in the 80s and 90s to attract FDI by Japanese businesses. In the North East he convinced many foreign Japanese firms setup manufacturing.
      Deng and Jiang also strengthened relations with the US while using their understanding of its political systems to subtly blunt it's influence in Asia and shape its perceptions of the PRC. Despite the fact that they considered it the China's primary enemy from the very beginning, they deliberately encouraged deep US engagement.

      The current trouble with China since 2022 May was invited by our Home ministers loose talks. While thumping the desk in parliament, after abrogation of article 370, he claimed that india will recover Akshaichin from China too. This statement spooked the chines and the rest is history known to all of us. Such strategic aims are not spelt out in advance till we are ready and sure to achieve.
      Luckily for India, the Chinese mis adventure in the pacific and aggressive posture against many small countries helped us to gain the Confidence of USA. Beside the zero Covid policy and targeting the big companies in China helped multinational companies to vacate their investments in China and move elsewhere including india.

    "India-Tibet" border, "if you prefer to put it that way". Why? Never have I seen a Chinese commentator call Arunachal Pradesh as India, or would ever use the term "India border" when referring to Arunachal Border. But Indian colonized minds like to pander to "correctness" pushed into their heads by foreigners. Just call it Indo-Tibetan border all the time, Shekar. No guilt, no shame, no options - call it for what it is really and what a famed unit of Indian armed forces police are named after.

      I dont think all divisions are converted into IBGs. That needs notification from MoD for realligning Brigadier - Maj General - Lt Gen. Having a few IBGs within existing brigade and division structures is different from restructuring the army along IBG or group army structure. Till such time we cannot claim true combined arms capability across the army. NATO plus grade of armoured mobility for the infantry so that it can accompany the armour and dedicated artillery support and close air defence with EW capacities would be vital.

    • @Rudraksh-ql4ce
      @Rudraksh-ql4ce Před 4 měsíci

      @@nicpirate007 there never was a plan to convert all Divisions into IBGs. only strike corps and a few pivot corps were to be organised into IBGs. regular pivot and hold formations will retain division structure for defensive tasks because IBGs are too small and lean to mount an effective bulk defence. China follows the same strangy. Regular divisions of Military districts for defence and Group armies for offence
      Plus US is actually reconverting it's BCTs into fully integrated combat divisions because combined arms operations have a limitation when not supported by adequate reserve elements which BCTs lack , you see what happened with Russian BTGs and CABs right? Armies are now restructuring back to division sized units to meet the atteitional issues posed by CAB/BCT structures. Even if we were to order rafales this year these wont be delivered till 2028-30 due to order queue at dassault. PAF on the other hand has two options towards 5th gen fighter - Turkish or Chinese. That will be code red for IAF. I guess IAF will end up buying Russian 5th gen fighters in panic . HAL please surprise us, as of now you are playing bluff😊

    • @mrs3188
      @mrs3188 Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@007skumarajay incorrect. In air operations one jet is equivalent to one jet only. 10 MiGs offer better redundancy and risk mitigation than a single Su30. So your comparison is not equivalent. Numerical strength always matters regardless of the generation of technology. And all of this is mostly due to delay in LCA project by more than a decade. Tejas would have been inducted in the early 2010s under competent leadership, and the fleet would have been eligible for significant modernisation now. It's my guess but not a single person at HAL or IAF has ever been held accountable for these inexcusable delays. I'm guessing because even if some people were punished such details wouldn't be released to the public.

    Shekhar ji, you leave your audience wondering whether “this is a good thing or a bad thing”, to be Centrist. But your Media company clearly takes the “Left” narrative.
    Is this show the only money maker? If it is, why are your owned Channel’s journalists so “Left”? You should have them be centrist too, and then all of your shows will be the money makers.
