Why’s latest election being called Pak army’s 1970 moment? Praveen Swami on how 1970 broke Pakistan

  • The high-tension drama in the Pakistan elections has led many to draw parallels with 1970, when the country’s held its first General Election. Though the 1970 election was remarkably free and fair, it also led Pakistan to be torn into two separate countries. Is it possible this election will also set the stage for a national implosion?

Why do the media people of India never make a detailed video on the plight of the Hindu Girls of Sindh, Pakistan? I recommend "The Print", make a detailed video on that. Or just borrow the video from Syed Muzzamil Shah titled, "Hindus Girls of Sindh"

Nawaz and his family lost all their seats to PTI workers but were saved by the military establishment.
His party won only 17 seats out of 261 before manipulated fake results were displayed.
Almost 80 seats have been stolen from Imran Khan all over Pakistan mainly in Punjab and Karachi.
Nawaz's party is forming a govt despite having only 10% of the mandate along with Bilawal's PPP having a 20% mandate. This will lead to a bigger chaos than 1970's. Imran Khan with 70% of the public nationwide is being sidelined at the behest of Western powers.
Lastly, Sheikh Mujeeb was our rightful leader, not this fraud Bhutto.

Ok let me recommend a book titled , The last days of united Pakistan by GW Chaudhary a Bengali who served as minister etc with yahya and Ayub . It is details from Bengali point of view and he was one of the two major links between yahya and mujib , other being governor SM Ahsan of then east Pakistan . However let me add the following .
It was on insistence of yahya that sheikh mujib name was included in Agartala conspiracy , Ayub was not enthusiastic about it .
The senior most civil servants of Pakistan central government were mostly Bengali favouring Bengal autonomy and Urdu speakers from India who had important role in central government since Liaquat Ali time .
The religious parties of Pakistan esp Punjab and Sindh we're headed by immigrants from India like jamaat islami and JUP etc .
The killing of jamaat and bhashani workers before 1970 elections were unchecked by governor Ahsan who was aligned with west . Mujib himself derived salary from a west Pakistani industrial group allied with USA .
Bhutto too had a backside peak in Bengal as his third wife was a Bengali divorcee of someone close to mujib .
The killing by mujib workers of islamic parties worker before elections meant that one civil war started there was no islamic intermediary .
Perhaps with war ongoing in Vietnam.USA did not inside want Pakistan to give any base to china , mujib was better for them .
It must be understood that before 1958 martial law Pakistan had a musical chair PM ship between east and west Pakistan , already three Bengali PM were there plus a president . Ironically the man who declared martial law sikander Mirza was Bengali origin president . Martial law closed way for Bengalis and was a root cause .
One aspect which is ignored in overall spectrum is that in 1960s power revolved around army dominated by pathan generals and Urdu speaking senior civil servants . The provincial autonomy which east Pakistan wanted and would travel to west too , threatened to remove the power of these two groups . Hence I feel there was a cool lobby allied with outside powers who were making reconciliation difficult .
Even now the election trouble is not so much about rigged elections but about pathans and some baluch sardars trying to use PTI , Imran and PPP as front man to get a bigger share of pie esp to dominate Punjab . It is a pie share struggle given the name of revolution class struggle etc etc . Army is caught in-between to keep balance but outside forces like USA India Taliban interfere
I hope I have explained it for benefit of others , who saw 1970 elections himself . I presume I satisfy the research curiosity of the moderator too .
