🎯⚡💪🏽Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. 05:07 Don't know about iPad, but if your tablet screen records sound as well: 1. turn screen record on with sound...then turn on the camera. 2. While both are on, make a loud noise or clap before you start talking. This will cause a spike in the recording's "audio visual". 3. Use the spike in the audio visuals on both the screen recording and talking head to sync them in your editor. 4. Turn off, delete, or turn down the audio for the tablet/iPad recording in your editor. Do this (2 - 4) for every segment of the video you will be using.
My. Dude. THANK YOU for this. My wife is a Nurse and has a great idea for education platform, and this is the GOODS we were looking for.
Research Viewsonic ID2456 I use it. They also make cheaper versions like the TD2455 and 2456 and smaller ones. Just make sure you get hdmi out so it can be used a source. I am a teacher and do a lot of online videos like this
Absolutley amazing! Thanks for sharing this. For educational type of content this is amazing. I might have to try it in a video.
Thanks Samuel for demystifying how to overlay handwritten notes in videos, will definitely explore this for my own content creation :)
Great vid. Little Editing tip for Samuel. Once you put the screen recording above the primary timeline, highlight it and hit Command+G, which will make it a secondary timeline. This will make it just like the magnetic timeline so you don't have to cut, drag etc. Just blade and delete and the gaps will fill automatically 👍
You just taught me something new that is going to save me hours of time lol
Your video literally saved my bachelor thesis product. I was planning to incorporate this style of drawing in my video, but it just would not work in premiere. Then I was notified about your upload, watched it, downloaded the Final Cut Trial and spent the night editing everything in Final Cut. The results were perfect! Thank you so much!
It will work in Premiere lol it’s a very simple effect. Premiere can easily change a video’s blending mode to Add.
First of all: Yes, Premiere also had additive blend modes, although they are names differently (linear dodge).
Secondly, have you tried doing this in Premiere with an iPad recording? The problem is not the blend mode, the problem is due to some color space mismatch that happens. There are lots of articles about it and no easy fix. Black on the iPad recordings will have a purple tint. Therefore, the blend mode will not 100% work.
@@LukeBares oh cause premiere is bad at handling variable frame-rates, the screen records on apple devices using the native screen recorder are not recorded using fixed frame rates, i normally run them through the adobe media encoder first or handbrake if you prefer that, then use it in premiere
Wow, Samuel! I just did it on my iPad Pro using iMovie app and it worked!
- screen shot my note taking using the black template
- added the video on my existing video as CUTAWAY
- highlighted the video (note taking) and then clicked OVERLAYS then I added volume on STRENGTH and voila! It worked just like how you present it!
@@muratbatmaz will try! 😊
@@muratbatmaz you can try doing it now provided with the information above
On Imovie ? Oh great !!! I need to give it a try. Can I ask you on which app you are takng note ? :)
Did you have to download an app on your iPad Pro to screen record?
@@pjwright3773 no. Screen record is a built in feature on your iPhone/iPad.
If you record the audio n the iPad well, you will find it easier to match up the two clips. It’s easier to line up the clips by looking at the audio spikes.
or create a clapper using your hands,
@@NarutoUzumaki-vc4wy or click "sync with audio" and let the software do it
@@sizmicmedia334 they’re that good now?
Bro, seriously, your videos brings joy , happiness and new learnings to many of us 🙏🙏 . You have made study fun and enjoyable ❤❤🙏🙏

I was just putting together a set of ideas for creating videos for students and this video can't come at a more right time.
@@SivaArunagiri I think Samuel is Psychic 🙂 hope the videos go well bro 🙂 have a great day

I don't know how I JUST came across your video and learned something that would be so amazing to use in my videos. Thanks for this!
Thank you for the awesome tutorial and information! This is such a simple, production-lite way to add illustrative graphics without lots of post-production.
That effect looks super slick. Really clear visuals and description. Thank you
This is SO GOOD!! Thank you so much, gonna use this in my upcoming videos on journal prompts for meditation. Thank you, Samuel!
That was brilliantly explained and so clear to follow. Thanks so much for taking the time to make that presentation on how to do it. Soooo helpful!
Oh wow, this will definitely come in handy. I tried this on my phone. Using inshot app and the sketchbook app. Understanding the blending options, help me achieve this. Thank you. 😊
perfect tutorial at the right time mate, I have had final cut pro but never took the time to explore the app and do any videos. your videos are truly inspiring.
You can record audio while screen recording and then use the sync function in fcpx which syncs by audio!
Amazing, thanks! Have just tried it on myMac and it works perfectly with iMovie !!! just drag iPad screen recording above a recording with you talking to a camera, set is as a blue/green screen and manipulate with "softness" to make its less or more transparent.
Brilliant! Very thorough yet simple explanation. Not easy to do. You are a gifted teacher. Also, this is definitely something I will use in the future. Thanks for the video!
About to start recording content for a new course and this will be a gamechanger. THANK YOU!!!
Omg have been wanting to do this for years!!! This is amazing, thank you!!!!
This was exceptionally well explained with so much patience and detail where it mattered. You simplified the process into bitesize chunks of valuable, actionable steps that made it easy to follow.
Samuel, you changed The way That I study and The way that I see learning. Thanks a LOT and hope yo have a wonderfull week.
I love just watching your random videos just to relax.
Thank you for this, Samuel. It was so easy to follow and is going to really make my course videos pop! You are appreciated.
Thanks for this tutorial! I really wanted to find a way to change my video style
Omg I never knew just how advanced final cut pro was. Seeing ur tutorial makes me think its extremely worthwhile!
Thank you mate 🙏🏾 I really appreciated these tricks. I’m going to use them right now!
Thanks a lot. I was trying to find a line drawing plugin for final cut, that would have been a terrible mistake now that i can use my own handwriting ! Thanks again !
this is a magical and powerful tool for lots of storytelling types! thank u sooo muuuchhhh, Samuel!!
excelent video! congratulaitions and thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Very clear. You have a very relaxed and comfortable voice, that’s easy to listen to. Keep up the good work!
One always learns something new everyday! Thank you for this wonderful and informative video! Hope to see you next week with another one of these bangers! 💙
thank you!!!
Great video thanks for uploading this. I built a lightboard as well but this concept seems much simpler
Great video! I have two tips to further improve your workstream:
1. Screen record your iPad with Mic on (long press record button to activate). This allows you in Final Cut Pro to sync the two clips perfectly.
2. When you change the blend mode to Add, simply change the Opacity below in order to bring back the black background. This will save you time by adding the extra screenshot.
You are welcome ;)
Tom
Can this be done if the editing software has no blend mode as well? Would it work by placing the ipad recording and simply changing the opacity? Wouldn't that also dim out the text, though?
@@muratbatmaz yes you could use a Chroma Key (Greenscreen) plugin to remove the background color instead of blending.
From where I can download Final Cut Pro?
@@vikassharmachemistry Get Davinci resolve, its free
For the first suggestion,
In the case of fast forwarding the writing, is that still possible??
Thank you so much! Your videos and tutorials are just something else.
This is such a clear and concise tutorial.
I’ve been looking for an app or video breaking down how to do this for quite some time now. Thank you and thanks to the YT algorithm for coming through for me!
Congrats on 300K 🥳
Such a brilliant and simple tutorial. Thanks! You're a total legend for sharing this.
You are such an amazing person to share that with us ! Thank you
Bro your work is amazing thank you so much for sharing. I was doing this but via keynote using animation to make words and objects go across the screen a lot of work but seeing what you have achieved has left me buzzing so once again thanks for sharing
Thank you for promising that this process would be easy at the outset of your video AND keeping to that process throughout. I am a beginner to video editing and I WAS able to follow and understand your process. Kudos!
Thank’s man, that what I looking for!!! Love ❤️
Thanks..this got me subscribed.
Most awaited video brother 🙏🏻🙏🏻Thanks
Thank you. You are an awesome teacher/instructor.
You always make me feel as if "I" can do this. Thank you!
I just stumbled on this tutorial. very cool. I'm already getting some ideas on how to incorporate this into my videos, thank you!
This is really awesome and very easy to follow long! I've been trying to find out out to do this for ages! Thanks mate!
This was extremely helpful. I saved this video, thank you so much! Just need to figure out how to do this on Premier Pro now
Simply amazing! Tks for teaching us!
Incredibly compelling way to communicate with an outrageously creative solution!!! Thank you so much.
Thank you for your honesty on sharing how you made you tricks
Just brilliant. This was so easy and helpful! Thank you!
Sometimes things can be so easy. Thanks for sharing your technique, Samuel.
You can use any exisitng notes/draw software already on mac. Then merge the two vids & screen overlay.
This is exactly how I theorized to do it before watching the video glad I got confirmation I was on the right track that gives me confidence in my editing skills
This is an interesting way to explain things in tutorials. I must try it sometime. Thank you! Great video!
Wow I love the effects and how easy is to make it. I can’t wait to try it on my videos too 🤗thanks so much.
Hey man that was really amazing if you planning to do such videos more often than i would request you to make a video about how you add normal texts in the video like you did in 5:31 also how did you zoom in, in the FCP screen recording, how to do transition between two shots, how to keep the audio seperate from video , etc 🤘🏻
Genius instructional design.
Hey Samuel, this video was awesome. I hope you’re enjoying making new content as much as I love watching it
Great video. Nice work! If you enable recording audio on the iPad through its built in mic, FCP will sync the clips for you based on the audio. Aligning them manually is pretty easy, but it’s even easier if you just select the two clips and create a synchronized clip using audio to sync. Best regards!
Love the effect!
Brilliant! Simple, but effective. Thanks a million.
Just wow! Thanks for listening to the audience’s requests
This was an awesome tutorial thanks so much! Your way of teaching is great.
Nice tutorial. One suggestion - instead of a screenshot of a black image, you could also use an adjustment layer (google to download) and add gausian blur and a color board (reduce highlights). This adjustmeant layer takes up less space on the timeline (looks the same as a title effect), and is much more customizable.
Enjoyed this video! Very helpful and can’t wait to try it. 👍🏽
Thank you Samuel! Much appreciated! Thanks!
I’ve always wondered how you did that. Thanks for the tutorial, would love to try it out.
it’s such a great idea, thank you for sharing this 😇
Super slick effect. Thank you for sharing!
This is Brilliant! Thanks for this tips make it so easy to incorporate.
Incredibly useful tutorial. I really appreciate this. Thank you!

This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!

Such a cool effect 😍 I‘d love to try it out 😊😁
Really needed this at this time thank you
Nice effect! Thank you!
What an absolutely awesome video. As someone who's trying to do explainer videos, this is such a simple but powerful way to explain a concept.
