In this video, I talked about the future of jobs. We are hearing about how many jobs AI will replace by 2030. And also what jobs AI can never replace and so on. IT jobs have been at risk because of these new-age technologies such as AI and ML. World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2023 gives us a glimpse into what the future of jobs is going to be like. The report talks about how many jobs will be gone in the upcoming years and it comes down to a net reduction of 14 Million jobs.
WEF Future of jobs report is important to understand what are the emerging industries and where most of the new jobs are coming from. The WEF Future of Jobs Report 2023 also gives us an idea about how the current jobs are being impacted. If you are wondering if will AI take away jobs or how many jobs AI will replace by 2030 then this report will be of great help to you. The future of jobs in India depends on the future of jobs worldwide so you can be sure that these emerging industries and the future of AI will impact your role as well.
Thinking of what jobs are safe from AI, we need to look at the emerging industries in which a lot of work has not been done and the available data is scarce. The first such industry is sustainability. No matter which domain you work in right now, sustainability is going to come into the picture somewhere down the line for sure. If you want to know what jobs will AI take first then be assured that it won’t be the jobs in the emerging industries. Future of Jobs Report 2023 makes it clear that new jobs will emerge in the sustainability domain as more companies move towards claiming sustainability practices-based tax cuts.
It is uncertain how many jobs AI will replace but jobs AI will replace in India can be predicted. It will depend on how the world moves towards these emerging industries. Another emerging industry is the Electric Vehicles or EV industry. It doesn’t have a lot of experts or professionals. To upskill in sustainability you can focus on reading more about the field but there are no courses I can recommend to you at this point. The second thing you can do is talk to people who are currently in the sustainability space.
How are the present jobs changing? To a great extent, the present jobs are changing because of AI and ML. Example of consulting where I have a lot of background can explain this to you. Earlier management consultants used to sit down and do data analysis on the client side to come up with better recommendations. Now this data analysis is itself becoming a product. The data logic can be uploaded on the cloud and you will get the answers directly.
Among jobs that AI will take away the job of customer representative is going to become obsolete. This is because the Large Language Model based AI chatbots can have structured or unstructured conversations with the clients. Data entry roles and website creation can go out. The next thing is that there will be fewer jobs in the market moving forward. So, you need to constantly upskill. Just don’t rely on one skill.

HI Pavan, Thanks a lot for wonderful insights and guidance. as mentioned by you , having a set of primary & secondary skills seems to be having advantage but in real job market seldom we see jobs matching such criteria. Taking your example of a Project manager with secondary technical skills seem to be very much sought after, but people prefer a pure Project manager or a Technical manager but not a person having both skill sets.. I may be wrong in my assumptions, but personally a i saw strong technical person with failrly good Project/Product management skills is not that much high in demand than a regular tech lead and Project managers, ...Please share some more light here.. Thanks in advance,

I have been in Healthcare IT consulting industry for about 5 years now which has limited or no scope of growth or up skilling. Hence, I decided to change my domain and developed my interest in the field of cybersecurity. I started networking with experts on Linkedin and sought guidance and resources to start learning besides my day to day survival job. In parallel to running a managment upskilling program, he's putting out well researched videos and insights of the corporate world to the public. The topics he touches upon have been industry secrets hidden in plainsight. The corporate culture thrives by keeping the employees in the dark, because an employee is expected to work like a machine and not ask questions. I have never seen any CZcamsr, who's this qualified to speak on such topics. He's not saying that everyone should leave the corporate world, he's just presenting you with facts so that you can take a calculated decision. And not be at the mercy of the employers.
