In VRChat you can make nearly anything you want if you know how to do it. On Quest it's a bit more limited due to the hardware, and UE isn't really optimal for VR development
Love VRC, but it's really just a Kindergartener's Second Life... Second Life removes those limits you mention, and it can do everything else this video mentioned.

Nah. I disagree, I make avatars for VRChat and VRChat is literally Ready Player One. You CAN BE ANYTHING IN VRChat. Does Fortnite have DIGIMON in it? Nuh-uh, Will Fortnite ever have Pokémon? Nuh-uh. Can you become a Half-Life character in Fortnite? Nope. You can do all that and much more with VRChat because literally with Unity and VRChat's SDKs YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, only limit is your knowledge (and that can be overcome with tutorials) and imaginations. VRChat > Fortnite. Also all those 13 year olds play Fortnite more than VRChat and unlike Fortnite you can block the crotch goblins or kick them if you own the instance.
The big thing that tanks this whole discussion is that Fortnite in spite of having good ideas is not itself a good game. If I want to play Rick Sanchez there’s multiple Rick and Morty games that are better than Fortnite
Fortnite can do what they can do because its not VR. I don't enjoy the gameplay, but I commend them for literally doing all sorts of crazy crap just because they can. Yes they do it to make money, but its not like other companies can't do similar, they just don't. Issue in total is the limitations of VR at the moment sadly.

The main reason why fortnite could do that, is because its run on unreal engine. Which is the CG engine for most movies, all it would take is a decent amount of coding and a powerful enough system to process it.
