Hi, thanks for the review.
By my side I am living in the French Alps, so basically I train in mid mountains and upper mountains between 1000m and 2000m altitude with rocky, technical steep environment as well as forrest trails. I love the former Ultra100 model which are very stable, comfortable and adapted to the shape of my feet. In particular the Pomoca sole was really perfect on wet and mud environment, and secure on rocks.
I just tested the 2023 version with Vibram sole, and I am very disappointed. The shoes seem to really lose lateral stability and I would'nt use them on technical mountain environment. However some improvements were made on the mesh making it more solid and immune to rock shocks. Personnaly I just bought other pairs of the old versions and will send back the 2023 version.
Ahh, interesting! This is really good feedback for the shoe! I don’t use them in mountain conditions so I didn’t notice the lack of lateral support!

Thanks for the review. I have both the old and the new Ultra 100 and the old one has been my main shoe for ultramarathons. It has excellent cushioning - feels plush but stable at the same time. The only thing they could have improved is the grip. And they did - with the new Ultra 100. The grip is perfect, especially on rock. But at the same time, the cushioning is much worse in the new model even thought the midsole looks pretty much the same. The shoe also appears to be less breathable but let’s wait for the summer to confirm that.
So this shoe became more fit for shorter distances for me, which is a shame. For ultra runs I’m gonna stick to the old ultra 100 as long as it’s available.
Would be great if you could get your hands on the previous version of the Ultra 100 to compare and see if you feel the same.
This is my first pair of Dynafit and I was wildly excited about the grip!
I thought the cushioning was perfect for long/ultra runs but that is without being able to compare what came before it. Was the previous version softer/more squishy?
@@its_Matt_B_ Yeah, definitely. The previous version felt something more like Salomon Ultra Glide (a little less than Hoka Speedgoats, but still very soft).
Very good to know. Also, did you stick with the same size for the new version?
@@ropersix yes. They are more or less the same - the old model breaks in more so it seems more tightly fitting but after a few miles it’s ok.

🗻, I'm done with paying stupid money on new version shoes, I'd rather save the money and just be one season behind... I'm now looking at the first version of these as they're currently around £80 here in the UK . Stuck between these and the first iteration of LA sportiva jackal 😕.

You're good to stay away from new releases. They're so ridiculously expensive when compared with the previous version. It's just like new cars that loose value the second you drive it off the lot! 😁
🏔⛰ I think it is more of a hiking shoe that you can run a bit. That said on a mountain ultra that is mostly what you do (AFAIK).
This is definitely a mountain shoe! My feet feel so protected in them! You’re right about the mountain ultras having a lot of walking! This would work great for that!
