Ben Joyce is a 22-year-old RHP out of Knoxville, TN... and he throws GAS. He made history last year registering the fastest thrown pitch in college baseball history at 105.5 MPH. His electric low-100's fastball took the sports world by storm as he cruised through opponents last year posting a 2.23 ERA for the Tennessee Volunteers in the loaded SEC. He was chosen in the 3rd Round - pick 89 overall - to the Los Angeles Angels where he's making headlines again as many anticipate he could make his big league debut THIS SEASON. It was a pleasure to link up with Ben to discuss his journey from Walters State CC to Tennessee, throwing only 65 MPH in his freshman year of High School, making baseball history last season in college, and his training routine to maintain his electric velocity. HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY! 🔥

Bro I play for Ftb same orzagiton as Phillies scout team
“I was juiced up… I mean pumped up about the crowd…”
🤨📸
😂
he is most def off the juice
Bro he said I was juiced up by the crowd getting hyped
@@anonymoususer9963 so is every other athlete in every other professional sport where they make a living
Bro hit the hardest backtrack when he said he was juiced up
It’s a baseball term you moron, he clarified the meaning for you in his explanation.
He literally didn’t back track at all
He was juiced up alright
There's a rumor that Tennessee turns the gun up for him... Despite that, he throws GAS. Can't wait to see him in the big show
Lol facts
came to the comments looking for this one lol
@@beazyho same 😂
Y’all know nothing about TJ surgery?
he’s throw gas god dang, i hope we get e tennessee tour soon. Love the vids!
He’s already in the Angels organization, maybe though
Welcome to the Show!!
So happy to know that he wasn’t even paying attention to his velo. Dude just wants to win games. Very excited for his future.
Prayers his elbow stays healthy
If he just threw 98 to 100 he'd be filthy.
Seems everyone gets tommy john surgery atleast once
Shit if bro gets TJ and heals good from it I could see him hitting 107, some players come back stronger after tj
@@Kado01he has already had it
@@Kado01’s amazing how far sports biomechanical medicine has come. Stuff that would end a player’s career is a lot of times only a season ending injury and sometimes not even that
He made his MLB Debut today while pitching 102 mph
That 2022 vols team was one of the greatest college teams of all time
105 is unbelievable
My fav college player❤
He’s in the angels system now
“You hit 105”
“Oh”
Paul Bunyon became a pitcher 😂
Go Vols I wish we could’ve made it to at least the college World Series
Last year
He looks juiced up…💉💉💉😂
praying for his catchers
I love ur viedos keep up the work
“Throws pretty hard” lol
not just 105.. 105.5. incredible.
Hopefully he can help the Angels this year!
*incoming “random” drug test lmao
The new radar guns track speed from the pitcher’s release point. The old ones caught it in front of home plate. The dude is bringing it but don’t think Randy Johnson wouldn’t have hit 105 with these guns.
No one said otherwise.
He will break the record for hardest pitch
He'll be chasing Nolan Ryan for sure
He only 22 and plays for the angels bring him up now 😂
I was at that game for the whole series
i watched him hit 105
live
Blows arm out at 25*
“The first time…”
🤯🤯🤯
I was at the game behind home plate. It was crazy. War Eagle
Future Angels Closer 🤟🏻
The white satchel paige
Amen
All that juice and no CWS
I just wanna throw 75
Wow
Yup. And have fun pitching 105 for 4 innings because that's all you can pitch nowadays
I didn't even know that 105 was possible. Has anyone else ever thrown that fast? I'm 42 years old, and honestly I can't say I've ever seen or even heard of a 105 mph fastball!!
Aroldis Chapman hit 106.something back in the early 2010s. Also Nolan Ryan (allegedly) hit 108 mph.
Chapman’s prime, also jhoan duran has also hit 105 during last mlb season reliever for the twins. Dude has an otherworldly pitching arsenal.
Ohtanhi or however spell it was hitting 101 last night in the wbc.
@@hoodiegriffo well yeah I didn't say that. I'm just saying he was touching 101 with ease on a regular basis last night.
105 is apparently possible but throwing 110 is allegedly impossible for a normal human body
All the epo
First white pitcher to ever throw 105
GBO
😎
The crowd really does effect the game big time
True story I actually went to school with Jarod Dickey
Blackflash lol
Juiced up…
How old is he bow
these dorks in the comments have no idea about gear, stop talking about it. you're not educated enough.
You ever just have a shower thought that the UCL is actually useless? Like RA Dickey pitched without one. The UCL is just a fragile ligament filled with pain receptors. Cant we replace it with something synthetic or remove it altogether?
He should probably think about not using words like “juiced up” when describing how he feels. Just sayin’
Hey...LA is callin you big brotha they will throw you fat stacks
Him and his brother are clones they sound the same
And he'll have Tommy John before he's 25 guaranteed
That's completely fine. It's not a career death sentence like it used to be. Pitchers opt to just make the move and get it before it's 100% necessary because they can get it out the way and come back stronger.
Lot of pitchers do ya mook
@@ParaRob that is a total fallacy. Lots of revisions and scant data to prove they are "stronger" after
@Mark M Here's something phallic for you to chew on.... The fact of the matter is that a pitcher is always going to be better than they were before getting Tommy John surgery because they injured their UCL and required the surgery in order to continue to pitch. If they don't get it, they will be physically unable to pitch anymore. No matter what data you look at, a pitcher who needs Tommy John surgery for a torn UCL will always be better than before he gets the surgery because he needed the surgery. Lmao!!
They've made advancements now that have lowered the potential return time to only 6 months by no longer completely replacing the UCL. In most cases, the ligament has torn completely off the top or bottom of the elbow, but it is still a healthy ligament, so they've started reattaching it and allowing the player to use their own ligament. This procedure allows them to get back to their full throwing speed in only 6 months.
The main point here is that Tommy John surgery is not a death sentence for a pitcher's career, and as long as they do the work to rehab properly, they can return just as strong as they were before and at times even stronger because they've learned proper ways to maintain and strengthen their arms during the rehab. The surgery itself may not make them better than before, but the work they put in along with the education they get during the rehab gives them the potential to be a healthier and stronger pitcher.
I couldn't help myself with the play on words at the beginning. You kinda set yourself up for it. It was just a joke. I'm not the kind of person to hurl insults at strangers over a discussion on the internet. If it offended you, I apologize. Hopefully you just got a chuckle out of it. I don't really want you to chew on anything phallic. I guess in a way, I was referring to my response as phallic, so I kinda ripped on myself. Haha. Whatever the case may be, they're just words, and neither of us are experts, so we can only go off of the information at our fingertips. The most obvious of that information is that an injured player will always come back better after the injury is fixed and healed. There's nothing to disagree with there.
@@ParaRob you really like to hear yourself talk don't you
Yo I thought the fastest pitch was 103
supposedly it’s 108 mph
Fastest real pitch in game is Chapman with 105.8 only 0.3 mph faster than Joyce
Chapman 105.8 allegedly Nolan Ryan through 108 but it was honestly probably 105. Still insane for his time period.
New baseball hipster word… velo 🤦🏼♂️
Jesus loves yall
“I was juiced up”. Yeah no doubt you were.
Bro about to get a random urine test
