Because of the drama involved (Two teams trying to break a Series curse, the great comebacks), I vote it as my greatest Game 7. Before 2016, it was, hands down, the Pirates and Yankees in 1960. But now, it's the Cubs-Indians.
I think between the history with both these teams, the fact it was game seven of the world series, and between an extra inning and a rain delay, this is definitely one for the books. My favorite of all time.
@@williamsnyder5616 would have been even better had the Cavaliers not just won it all a few months earlier, breaking the city's championship drought. The Indians really fed off that, and that's why they contended so well during, and why they've faltered since (the Cubs are just the Cubs, so that's why they can't go back).
Game 7 World Series winner take all with a 108 year drought vs a 68 year drought, we'll probably never see this kind of championship matchup ever again in pro sports!

Brandon Guyer deserves some sort of award for that at bat. He was patient and focused on just getting on base and he drives in a run at 3-2 after fouling off some really tough pitches. That's the definition of a major league ball player right there.
Cleveland baseball joined the American League in 1901. I don’t think there will ever be an inning as great as this in the entire history of the franchise. Not in the 115 years before, not in the 115 years after. The way that the TV broadcast captured this moment is something else. The beating of the drum 🥁, the slow buildup of the rally, the rally caps, the Cubs fans, LeBron’s reaction and shirt at the peak of his popularity …… The Baseball Gods emerged from their meditation for this game. Universes collided and merged into another during this game. 2016 was an insane year to be living in Cleveland.

What a moment in baseball history. Still heartbroken as a lifetime Indians fan. They didn't win game 7 but still the greatest moment in Indians history.
As a Giants fan, me and my dad watched game 7 to see who would break the curse and the 8th inning was one of the most thrilling, hearthrobbing and intense moments ive ever experienced watching sports. That lead up to Rajai's homerun, literally feeling the immense anxiety on thousands of Cubs and Indians fans that were there, both fanbases wondering if their moment of glory was slipping away. And then BANG the homerun. One of the loudest reactions ive ever heard. It was just a perfect baseball moment.
I already know what happens and yet I still get butterflies in my stomach watching this. I dont care if they lost the series, that home run was a top 5 all time moment in Cleveland sports history
This series...it was only right that this series went 7 games and to have a Game 7 like that. I remember all series I was responding according to the people I was talking to. I've been a Braves fan from birth (born at the hospital just blocks away from the old Fulton County Stadium), my family is NL all the way in the World Series (except when it's the Dodgers), and my fiancee and her family were all from Cleveland. Especially during this game, I was portraying all different emotions at all the twists and turns this game had, and probably the most exciting ball game I've ever seen in my 17 years of following baseball. One curse was broken, another remains to be...and I hope that I'm around to see the Tribe win a ring, and that the time will be soon!
As an indians fan, when we were down in the 8th I couldn't watch anymore, I went to sleep super mad, then i woke up and saw the final play, broke my heart, great series but I cant watch videos over the series, I get mad lol
I really hope you guys get yours. As a Cubs/Preds/Vols/Titans fan, I know heartbreak all too well. My Dad is a Cleveland fan and he deserves one in his lifetime
I really hope we can have this match up again in the 2017 World Series, especially because the Indians will be at full strength (or at least I hope they will). Even with an injured team, the Indians put up a great fight and gave us an exiting World Series in 2016. The cubs are a great challenge and opponent for us and I want to be able to face them again when we have two fully healthy teams. This is our year, for real this time, Tribe rules!!
I think fans of both teams can look at this game and feel proud. I'm an Indians fan but I was proud of this team. These guys came from 3 down to tie it against arguably the top closer in the MLB, and in game 7. The game was so even it took extra innings to decide. The cubs deserved it, but the Indians will be ready this year. Best of luck cubs and go tribe.
This was the best game of baseball I ever watched, and I've seen a lot of great games. Shame the tribe didn't win, bit I guess the cubs were more overdue than we were, so congrats to them
1995 was difficult, but they went up against 3 tremendous SP'S in glavine, maddux and smoltz. 1997 and 2016 losses really hurt. Had a 2-1 lead in game 7 against the Marlins before Jose Mesa blew the save. 2016 they blew the 3-1 series lead.
This whole bottom half of the 8th inning lives rent free in my head. From Guyers oppo double to Davis’ game tying homer. I root for the dodgers but I’m a baseball fan first and watching this always makes me feel good.
Chicagos bullpen got them the win in game 7 'momentum was with Indians when they tired it I was cheering Indians even though they beat jays because wanted the cubs title drought to go longer next year Indians as long as u aren't playing jays in postseason I'm cheering Indians Edwin to win World Series
TheCnorton19 That rain delay killed the momentum. Also, if Jose Ramirez was 6 inches to his right, he would've fielded the ball and got a double play on the Zobrist double. That would've ended the inning. In the bottom of the tenth Rajai had that single that scored Ramirez. That would've been a walk off
TheCnorton19if I remember the rain delay was called top of the 10th when Cubs were batting stop making excuses Indians choked and lost to the better team champions find ways to win no matter that's what the Cubs did found the will to win.
Finkardop champions find ways to win no matter what no excuses the rain delay was called top of the 10 when we were batting y'all Indian fans finding so much excuses just admit y'all chocked and lost to the better team
I'm sorry but Cleveland deserved to win this game. Still one helluva series and brings tears to my eyes watching that homer and watching the fans go nuts.
I had so many conflicting emotions while watching this inning and this game. I'm a lifelong Tigers fan (No jokes, please. We'll be back sometime in this century.), so the Indians are not my favorite rival. I grew up in west Michigan, so I could get Cubs games on WGN, so they became my favorite National League team. That means I was well aware of their "drought." But I was also aware of the Indians frustrations and, as a baseball historian, I could empathize a little with the Tribe's "drought." And, when Rajai Davis was with the Tigers, he was one of my favorites. So, I couldn't but smile when Rajai tied the game. Just as I did when the Cubbies finally took the Tigers off the hook. Huh? Simply because we were the last team the Cubs BEAT in the Series...in 1908. In fact, they beat us two years in a row in 1907 and 1908. So now, there's someone else they could beat. After all is said and done, though, my congrats to both the Cubs AND the Indians for a great, truly GREAT, World Series.
Whenever I hear a fellow Red Sox fan state, "I love how we won in 2004 but it wasn't dramatic enough," I will remind them of this game and the storyline for each teams history and then punch them in the schnozzz. While watching this game, never in my life have I wanted each team to win so badly. It was heartbreaking for me, while joyous. I can't imagine what it would have been like for Indians fans.
Probably one of the greatest MLB games of all time. Two teams trying to break the curse in a game 7 of the World Series

man... i hate that we lost, but will always love rajai for giving us the greatest memory as an indian fan... truly amazing.
This was the first MLB world series I have ever seen and it did not disappoint.
The infamous “rain delay”
was just on the verge do tears watching this. its wild how much this team winning this game would have meant to me and this city. damn.
I already know what happens and yet I still get butterflies in my stomach watching this. I dont care if they lost the series, that home run was a top 5 all time moment in Cleveland sports history
My favorite part of this clip has always been the 36 seconds of just silence before the 2-2 pitch and the camera panning around to all the fans
Delaney Lonergan cinematic
This series...it was only right that this series went 7 games and to have a Game 7 like that. I remember all series I was responding according to the people I was talking to. I've been a Braves fan from birth (born at the hospital just blocks away from the old Fulton County Stadium), my family is NL all the way in the World Series (except when it's the Dodgers), and my fiancee and her family were all from Cleveland. Especially during this game, I was portraying all different emotions at all the twists and turns this game had, and probably the most exciting ball game I've ever seen in my 17 years of following baseball. One curse was broken, another remains to be...and I hope that I'm around to see the Tribe win a ring, and that the time will be soon!
still gives me chills.
This still amazes me
Chappy came right back and got it to the 10th. Resilient SOB
Dang I forgot how great of at bats Davis and Guyer has...that homer gives me chills
As an indians fan, when we were down in the 8th I couldn't watch anymore, I went to sleep super mad, then i woke up and saw the final play, broke my heart, great series but I cant watch videos over the series, I get mad lol
I cry every time😭
I really hope you guys get yours. As a Cubs/Preds/Vols/Titans fan, I know heartbreak all too well. My Dad is a Cleveland fan and he deserves one in his lifetime
Will Riley ✊ respect
@@jackwallenhorst891 Just wondering, did you go to any of the world series games that year? Dad and I were at game 6
Will Riley sadly no. I went to a playoff game against boston that year though
7:36 Drive into left! At the wall, it's gone! Tie game, Rajai Davis! 6-6!
Flying Eagle TV listen to Matt vasgersions call on that homerun, it still gives me chills today
"DAVIS TO LEFT AND WELL HIT! OH MY!!! IT'S GOOOOOOOOOOOONNNEE!!! SANTA MARIA!!!"
Joe Buck actually said “at the wall” not aaannd
Sam Steger he said aaaand
Alejandro Sanchez He clearly said at the wall
I really hope we can have this match up again in the 2017 World Series, especially because the Indians will be at full strength (or at least I hope they will). Even with an injured team, the Indians put up a great fight and gave us an exiting World Series in 2016. The cubs are a great challenge and opponent for us and I want to be able to face them again when we have two fully healthy teams. This is our year, for real this time, Tribe rules!!
I can’t even watch this without tearing up
Still gives me chills
I can't believe I missed this World Series!! Awesome game!
Was there and I was crying/getting lit when this happened
This whole video still gives me chills... especially with Guyer's hit and Rajai's home run.
This still gives me chills watching this! Indians you were so close. Cleveland would have been lit if they won Cavs and Indians same year.
2 teams that hadn't won in over 50 yrs. at least, going extras in G7, doesn't get any better.
Wow! What a game/series this was.
This whole bottom half of the 8th inning lives rent free in my head. From Guyers oppo double to Davis’ game tying homer. I root for the dodgers but I’m a baseball fan first and watching this always makes me feel good.
If there was no rain delay the Indians are winning it
Chicagos bullpen got them the win in game 7 'momentum was with Indians when they tired it I was cheering Indians even though they beat jays because wanted the cubs title drought to go longer next year Indians as long as u aren't playing jays in postseason I'm cheering Indians Edwin to win World Series
TheCnorton19 the rain wasn't even bad enough for a delay. They called it cause the world wanted the cubs to win. Good $$$ and good ratings.
I remember watching this game with my dad. We are dodger fans but wow this was a game
One of the best series in a while
Lucky enough to be at this game.....the atmosphere was unreal
I’m literally a dodger fan and I still got chills
Camden Dempsay lol same here man. Go Dodgers
The last seen of the billy goat curse
Not really a fan of either team but this was hands down the best world series I ever watched. It had just about everything.
I live in Chicago and I’m a die hart dodgers fan but I still thoroughly enjoyed this series
Rain delay killed momentum. Still. Greatest game 7 of all.
Hate the outcome but this World Series is one of the greatest all time
The Indians fell short but I'll forever love Guyer for his heroics late in this game.
It just doesn’t get any better than THIS baseball game.
Absolutely!
Single greatest play/moment I've ever experienced as a lifelong Cleveland sports fan......a movie-type moment, that actually happened in real life....
The last bleat of the billy goat.
What a tease. I could understand why this loss hurts so bad, because of this comeback.
