c_give("pickaxe")
And if you're bringing a friend:

Thanks for watching! Let me know if you wanna see more in the future! - Hry
Fun fact: carrats have a 33% chance of dropping carrot seeds. Another point for lunar grotto, given that this allows you to start a farm underground.
So that's mean carrots everyday
Yay
you can destroy the gardeneer hat to get seeds too
@@dzlam907 Imagine rolling the 1/125 chance of growing 3 weeds from those 3 seeds.
No, plants won't grow underground. Unfortunately(
Tree Guards definitely spawn underground. I used to chop down 100+ trees with a reanimated skeleton in the caves and use them to kill the skeleton.
Never thought to check there! Whilst playing we googled all over and couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. Atleast we know now :)
yeah my friend plantet 4 trees down there and 3 where treeguards. this was some crazy rng
@@SomeoneX64Bruh I Chopped the whole forest with a bearger and no tree guards spawned. How tf dst spawns work
Really surprised a lot of people never use straw rolls and tents to regen sanity and remove wetness. Sleeping is a very underrated mechanic.
As for the silk: bunny hutches+ spider den= auto silk farm
Tent my beloved!
well i use it occasionally
It takes too much time in my opinion
@@Theresia66 i mean, you would waste more time if youre dead than if you sleep
@@bbmarioni89 haha true. I just prefer other methods, like eating some blue caps
Just so you know - You can remove the science machine after getting an alchemy engine (It works as both)
I can’t wait for more challenges! Maybe one where you can’t leave a boat?
Haha, legit we were just talking about doing that!
@@BiddoBamss
I've survived an entire Winter+ on a boat once, and it was a very enjoyable time. I know some other people don't like boats, but I find them very fun.
I was Wendy, though, so those sharks were basically just free food. It was also before the monkeys were implemented, so boat raids weren't a thing...
@@BiddoBamss thought of that because I am playing shipwrecked… I have an idea
@@DonnaPinciot dude i remember sailing the ocean to find chester in my world
@@adiamondsword8392 Hahaha that's pretty ridiculous.
Absolutely love the sequel, and you are WAY too underrated.
You're too kind, thanks so much
Some advice for future farming, you have to make farm plots under a beam of light from above for them to grow or use a star caller staff which is actually really effective at it since you can grow crops light up the base and keep warm all at once
As a viewer, I'd like to say that your content is the type of content I love and wish I could see more often when I type in Don't Starve Together in youtube. The lack of challenge videos and in general lets play, so I am thankful your channel!
Honestly, I can't put to words how grateful I am hearing things like this. Thank you so much :D
A "boats only" challenge could be fun. The freedom to explore the majority of the map, yet still unable to set foot on the ground.
There's a boss you could reasonably set as a goal (Malbatros isn't *that* hard). If you wanted, you could let yourself use the crabby island as a harbor (since a hermit-island-only run is definitely not possible).
Around 5 days of prep time seems reasonable, as to even start you would need, well... a boat and a light source, to name a few.
Either way, great video, can't wait for the next.
Thank you! Don't worry we got plenty of ideas for future vids, boat only run is definetly high up that list :)
Great tree trunk biomes would be a godsend in this kind if run
@@xmeatball63 well you can't get flint, so you really only survive from spider meat. Would be kinda boring imo
I refuse to believe that you only have around 300 subscribers, this is so well made!! I can’t wait to see more of these types of videos as well as your letsplays!
This and the lunar island video were some of the best dst videos I’ve watched. Awesome content and looking forward to more challenge videos like this
Thank you so much! :D
As an avid player of don’t starve together (despite the name and profile) your videos are very refreshing especially combined with your diction and well paced commentary. Love your videos keep it up!
Thank you so much! :)
Man you're videos are so entertaining! i'm glad people are enjoying don't starve together and making fun challenges like this, keep at it!
The first one was great too, love the narration. Well done!
Would suggest to consider using tent, mushroom planters(manure can be farmed with lightbulbs and a werepig) and surf 'nd turf(2 eels and 2 monster meat) for sanity regeneration.
If you find swamp in caves rain coat is an option too, keeps you fully dry.
Yeah I wanted to make mushroom planters at one point (our main reason to get living logs before changing to shadow manipulator + dark swords) Next time I'm definetly gonna gonna pick somebody other then Wortox so I can actually use surf'n'turf to its full potential. And damn, I knew I was forgetting about raincoats! Damn it! Next time :)
Nice video. The format is really funny, voice is great. This challenge sure deserves a rematch, looking foward for it!
If you're going to do this with prep time, bring a beefalo down into the caves with a beefalo bell. Also long as one is alive, it can make a herd. I learned this by bringing down a beefalo, which entered heat down there, and the baby just went on to make a full herd.
Thank you for this amazing challenge idea. I'm having a blast with it - I tried it solo and with a friend. For solo attempts, my first one as Maxwell failed. First nearly destroyed by slpumonkeys and barely made it to the ruins only then to get chased by 7 terrorbeaks as I ran through the military biome like a headless chicken. When a bishop broke my shelmet I knew it was the end. Second attempt I tried as Wigfrid and I'm currently approaching summer, with AG and Nightmare Werepig killed, ruins rushed and a stable base in the muddy biome near the lichen field. I survive primarily on meatballs made of moles/spiders/monkeys/bunnymen and lichen as filler. I have a small pig farm with 3 houses I built from deconstructing a touchstone, but I used pig skins only for umbrellas so far. Large meats came in handy for jerky which I used for fighting Nightmare Werepig. My base has an alchemy, a shadow manipulator, a tent, a modest kitchen and a meat effigy which I haven't used once. Next goal: prepare and solo kill Toadstool!
Duo with my friend is pretty much the same but he plays Maxwell, so we are drowning in wood lol. We live near a green mush forest bunny village and muddy, with bunnies killing spiders for us, and got lucky with a feather hat boon! Normally you can't get feathers downstairs but thanks to this hat I could afford to craft three songs! We found the hat at 37%, then hammered all the bones we found until we managed to find a single hound tooth, then used a construction amulet to make it into a sewing kit, and then fixed the feather hat and finally deconstructed it for 3 feathers!!! Yesterday we left off with Nightmare Werepig and Toadstool defeated, and summer is about to start. We are now discussing what should be done when we run out of things to do there. A plan I have in mind is to spawn the shadow pieces setpiece and defeat them to get shadow atrium, then approach Fuelweaver and try to reset the ruins. It's a shame we would have to resort to commands to do it but without it we already have proven we can survive pretty much forever. 😂
another super fun challenge vid, thank you!! glad you seemed to have more fun with this one than the lunar island challenge. I wouldn't have blamed you for living in the lunar grotto, since that would almost definitely let you reach that plateau of stability.
Heck yeah, CZcams has actually been recommending small channels to me and it's great to see! Nice video!
Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it :)
I was considering trying a world of monkey island only, but that could be an interesting place to survive for a video! It'd probably only be possible to initially start out there if you use commands to turn yourself into Wonkey immediately though, since otherwise you'd have to deal with a lot of powder monkeys while waiting for the portal to dispense anything of use.
Other than that, it'd probably be a good idea to allow yourself to use boats, but not allow yourself to touch the mainland, since otherwise you'd probably go insane IRL again like you did in the Lunar Island video, with how little land you have to work with.
...and immediately after I finished writing this comment, I just noticed that someone else commented suggesting the same thing. Whoopsies! At least you know there's more than one commenter who thinks this could be a fun idea :D
you know since you thanked us so nice for liking your content, just got you another like and follower, also your voice is very calming so keep everything going the way you do!
Haha, well heres another thanks! Thank you :)

amazing ideas and video bro. love it
Great video man I can’t wait to see more

another good vid, hope you guys go higher! also, would love some in game talk along the current commentary (maybe more from Tig boi?)
Thanks! I might upload the full unedited videos but they would total to like, 15+ hours of footage. I do enjoy making unscripted videos but I'm not sure if thats everybody would want to see. We'll see :)
I also plan on MAYBE streaming these runs at some point (plus just some normal runs too) so people can get our ingame talk that way. Ofc I'll still make these videos, I'd just be streaming the actual runs themselves. If thats what people want :) Still unsure yet!

HECK YEAH!! I was hoping this would be the next video!!! >:D
watched this because I never explored the caves really, makes me want to redownload don't starve and try it again
Do it!!!
short answer: Yes. Cave-living is very possible. Wortox isn't a bad choice, but personally, I'd have gone for either webber, wendy or like your buddy, Maxwell.
Really fun video
That's very good content guys, keep it up
Very entertaining!
Bro keep up the good content it’s awesome
Will do, boss! :D Thanks for the kind words.
I actually really enjoy this and the caves myself. Good challenge and super cool.
Here's a tip for when you have a wortox: if anyone dies and need to retrieve their items, stock up on souls, and capture 10-20 bugs with the net, with only a football helmet you can teleport there, take the stuff, and teleport back. If the place is too dangerous, bring a pan flute.
keep up the dst content its very entertaining. remember me when you hit 10000 subs lol
Love your videos keep it up
This was really cool! I hope next time you can get further and maybe fight that werepig boss!
I hope so too! Not too proud of how we did, but I blame my sub-optimal character choice and general lack of knowledge/skill reguarding the caves. Despite having 900 hours in the game, A very very small percentage of that was spent underground, and none of it was with the nightmare werepig or even the reworked ancient guardian :D
I actually am a Webber main, and i like his low sanity pool. since he gets easy silk, making a top hat is easier for him than anybody else - which, combined with a wider food pool via monster meat, makes survival quite easy once you get used to him. I was a Webber main pre buff as well, so now the game feels almost too easy for me.
Aye boys, Fun run gg
Another great video.
I lived til spring . the hardest bit is grass and twigs once you get a foot hold on that it easy.... I always play webber cause I just like the spider boy
edit: which reminds me if I were to play with a friend my friend was most willing to swap around characters. trying out maxwell for easy way to get flint, but eventually decided to be wigfrid due to how their supplies allow us to use helmets that didn't use our very limited source of pig skin... which there would only be 8 pigskin at most in a world like that if you want more you have to make pighouses in areas that go through a day and night cycle.... basically turning a bunny village into a pig village as a theory.
but maybe memory is messing with me.
Definitely should have used raincoats, especially since maxwell can use the magician's hat for extra inventory space. Merm king can be used to gain seeds underground, so Wurt is an interesting prospect to enable farming. You could also have made better use of the bunnymen, you can easily sicc them on each other for large meat and carrots, and they respawn every night. Also would have been smart to try to get magiluminescence ASAP, although I understand ruins raiding can be intimidating.
Here's a tip: lightbulbs can be dropped to provide light while you mine before you're able to get lanterns
140 more subscribers from the lunar video, congrats :)
I love your videos
great video! I wish I had someone to do these kinds of challenges with. By yourself is super lonely
I'm hoping to include my viewers in potential future videos/streams/challanges! Keep an eye out ;D
@@BiddoBamss sounds like a fun time! any word on what those challenges might be?
9:40 you can totally spawn treeguards in caves, but if you feel especially dangerous you can even spawn them in the ruins ; )
now that i think about it it could be really valid strategy to clear out some of mechanicals
The new "Plant a 100 trees in the ruins, play as Woodie to get extra treeguard spawn, chop trees to clear ruins" strat. :D
thx a lot for that eel tip! that's a rlly good alternative for getting some gold stacks in public servers
Public servers... huh... thanks for the future video idea ;)
@@BiddoBamssscary ngl
Damn I didn’t even think about this, I’m definitely gonna use this in public servers now when people mine everything up lol.
I hope you hit 500 subs soon bro
Btw can you kill all of the bosses with only regular spears football helmets and log suits (no allies including spiders)
It was so enjoyable thanks
Good job! :D
Thanks!! :D
@@BiddoBamss i haven't played this game in so long, this video is pretty inspirational.

SURVIVING IN THE CAVES DST WITH WES (DONTSTARVE) WITH THIS ONE TRICK? (DST)
@@BiddoBamss xD
Perfect! Having DST 3 times in the title will bring brand awareness.
Now just align yourself with vaguely important things, its not just will you watch Biddo complete this challenge its now will you help Biddo fight against cancer by watching his video! :]
I am pretty sure if you get the dwarf star staff you can grow crops anywhere underground, other wise you have to grow them in light spots
Nice content 😁
Challenge idea: You can only eat each food item and crock pot dish once and your goal is too kill the ancient fuel weaver
i think its kinda interesting how the cave challenge and lunar island challenge are the reverse of eachother. the caves never have that plataeu of stability, meanwhile the lunar island is only that plataeu of stability
Nice❤
im doing this same challenge rn. im on day 90 as wx78 which was a really good pick. i got the optoelectronic circuit and speed 2 circuit, so i basically have free moggles and walking cane as long as i dont get wet, and since i live in the blue mushrrom biome, i have easy access to living logs, and my main weapon is dark swords
I see you guys still have a lot to learn in dst, but I enjoyed the gameplay a lot! ❤️
You can walk past large spider clusters by walking on the edges of the map
nice to know that still works! I remember doing that back when ruins were first added to DS, must of forgot when playing!
Keep it up
Now I feel tempted to program a quick mod just so the Bearger and Deerclops are allowed to naturally spawn down in the Caves.
Oh please do, I'll actually use that when we do another run! :D
@@BiddoBamss I shall see what I can do in order to mechanically make the impossible possible, and get them down in the dark.
@@LeGurdahmade it yet?
@@endmysuffering2925 I won't sugarcoat it, I severely underestimated how complicated it was to find out how it worked, let alone go about implementing it.
First, my big hurdle was actually _figuring_ _out_ if it was either the (forest/surface) world entity itself that actually had the components for the Bearger and Deerclops spawner, or its networked variant. Looking at the world and world network script files didn't help much there.
(I got too distracted by the gameplay to figure out if one or the other was the case.)
My second hurdle was a desire to keep the memory and space footprints each of those two components had to a minimum -- so I thought that making a custom component that was a fusion of both spawner components could accomplish this task. (Never mind the insane file sizes of both spawner components' scripts.)
Research on this stuff was... 'er, sparse, to say the least.
This and Don't Starve's modding API basically has very few, if any, official documentations to speak of, so I had to scavenge information from either stabbing in the dark, trial and error, analyzing unexpectedly related scripts' coding, or gleaning info from the original people (i.e. veteran modders and Klei devs) who dug the trenches long before I would dare stick my _own_ shovel into it.
Combine that with some depressive episodes and the boredom of monotony for too long, and you get "yet another project on the backburner."
W/ that said, this is an idea I'd still like to see explored. Failing that, if no one else does, then I don't have any objections to going back into the ring and continuing the fight.
Nice vid
Thank you for this new video I love all your videos also try hamlet or shipwreck
Thank you Amish! I was considering doing singleplayer don't starve content at some point but its what im the least experienced in! Eventually though!
I did a full darkness run. The caves aren't always dark since mushroom biomes provide light and there were trees nearby. This was before lunar biome update. It's hard but survivable at least as wig forever as long as you stay away from ruins.
You can dry up faster by standing close to a fire. Thermal stone also acts like a fire (even if it's cold)
You're kiddin' me? I never knew thermal stones worked on the ground! Thanks!
I love doing cave only worlds, they're empty but a cool thing when you start off and just living off torches till the first earthquake, once you do ruins though you're basically living above ground with lights out mode on lol
Also there's a way to generate a world with only caves if you want to know I can explain the process
Can you explain how?
@@cosmicpotato3849
1) Generate a basic world with caves on
2) go in your game files (hit the folder in your main menu)
3) remove the content of the master folder and swap it with everything the caves folder had
4) open the server.ini file and in [SHARD] edit "is_master = false" to true
5) launch your world and when picking a character you'll be in caves
If you can't get it to work I can send you a pre-made caves only world.
I wholeheartedly believe the ruins wouldn’t be a challenge without splumonkeys. Easily the most annoying mob in the game
Amen to that. They're so annoying when in their demon form, and even in their normal form are just so irritating, dumping the contents of hutch and occasionally throwing poop... Klei did a great job at making a truely insufferable creature :)
This is a good example of why Spring is by far the season I like the least, the constant rain forces you to deal with it both on the surface and underground (so you have to miss out on one of your slots) which means you can't explore dangerous area or do bosses, you get a much harsher cold than in winter with the rain, especially in early Spring, and frog rains are just the game forcing you to not play the game anymore and just run in circles for 15 minutes away from your base.
Honestly the more time I spend in Spring the more I want to main Wickerbottom just for her book that stops rain, it's amazing (and as a neat trick, it completely cancels Summer, as Antlion will despawn when it rains and no wildfires can happen during rain, even the sandstorm in the Oasis is disabled).
You should have eyebrella at that point couple that with body armor and you are good to go. Yes you lose backpack slots but you shouldnt really need to carry all that load when going for bosses.
Frog rain is insane frog leg farmin opportunity if you bring them to any boss unit preferably Moose/Goose
@@Flikanik What if I don't want to spend the next 20 minutes with my headslot forcibly occupied by an Eyebrella?
What if I don't want to spend the next 15 minutes running around like a dumbass waiting for the frog rain to spawn, and my fridges are already oversaturated with food?
I'm not saying Spring can't be survived through, it's just immensely boring because no matter how late into the game you are you can't just put this bother away.
Winter and Summer temperature can easily be fixed with thermal stones and wildfires can be stopped in an instant with a luxury fan or a gardening can, only Spring just tells you "stop playing the game, you play my season now!".
Plus Moose/Goose is Spring's only exclusive boss, and while the mooslings are cute and fun, the mother is so incredibly boring to fight.
@@dwight3555 What are you wearing on your head slot that you need? Why are you waiting for the frog rain to spawn?
You can carry a lantern and explore the caves, you can also have a lot of berry bushes set up and growing for when you next need food, you can use spring as a chance to harvest less common materials. You can sail and find the Lunar Biome if you didn't in Winter. You can befriend a hermit.
It isn't that Spring is hard, it is you refuse to do the simple thing which removes it and anything else you can. Like refusing to carry a thermal stone in winter. You literally have access to a "Super Thermal Stone" which lets you do everything safely and engage in combat if you carry a 2nd hat.
You're right wildfires can be stopped, if you see them, and use the fan. But that is the big catch of summer. If you see them. If you're slightly off with your placements or camera position you lose huge areas of resources. Most people live in the Oasis/Caves during it for a reason.
As a caveman the answer is forever. Unironically safest place in the game The Archives is in the caves.
Why The Archives the safest place?
No Earthquake
Infinite light (bulb bugs right outside, easy to farm)
There are rocks ready to use for farming purposes bring a spider egg or two for meat farm
Spiders give meat for hunger and silk for tent which you can use for hp and sanity.
Anything you can do on the surface you can do there as well.
Only thing that can bother you is worm attacks
One day I'd like to do just a normal playthrough but basing in the caves, so still letting myself upstaris to get materials. Living in the lunar grotto sounds nice!
You should do some character playthroughs! With parts ofcourse, i think wx-78 would be a fun one
This is going in the good vids playlist
Challenge idea:
Spawn in cursed trinkets and play as Wonkey for a year
That would be just old wilson gameplay with no beard and a slight speed boost
I may be very biased but I'd stay Walter. His tent is great for the rain and other can use it as well. Also it's movable so thats great. His sanity is really good for caves. And finding monster meat means fast movement with Woby. Also extra storage never hurts. But I'm a Walter main and I base in caves when I'm playing him.
Remember you can set on fire monkey house without them getting angry at you
Didn't know that! Thanks for the tip. :)
@@BiddoBamss also idk if you already know that , but if you feed a rabbit a carrot you can attack any rabbit withouth other getting angry at you and they will help killing your target so for 1 carrot you can clear an entire village
FYI the football helmet gives 20% wetness reduction, so while you would need more pigskin, you would also not need to constantly use straw hats. (When combined with an umbrella)
Amazing video, I was going to suggest a boat only challenge but I seems like everyone else beat me to it! So I’ll just say… tumbleweeds only?
That's a great idea! For sure gonna see about somthing like a desert only or tumbleweeds everywhere but nothing else video at some point :D
Next do a ruins base challenge. With 3 or so days to prep like you did for the ocean/boat challenge
Get stone fruit bushes from the stone fruit that drops from the lunar grotto, you can grow them without having to live in the grotto.
Make similar vids to this man its so fun!!! Challenging videos like this you do so well and I thought if he does challenge video I'll subscribe and you did so subbed
Will do! Thank you so much :)
it's not as bad as the endless blue on the screen, but I'm already starting to get a headache from low sanity. in any case, the video is nice
Good thing I had sanity distortion disabled, It usually makes me motion sick, but with how insane I was I wouldn't of made it past day 10!
This is me when I forget my teleport home watch.
haha im def one to also make my area look nice, regardless of how much trouble im having XD
It's a massive priority :D
There used to be a glitch in world gen where you could get a cave only world, if I recall right even the portal would spawn down there.
It is a shame that was fixed by accident.
Next Video: Survive in the Moonquay
Island or Pearl Island
Shhh, don't tell anyone ;)
in fact, you can survive forever in a cave, there is food here, you can restore your sanity by sleeping in a tent or sleeping bag, and if you quickly clean up the ruins, you can rest a good armor, the only serious problem for me is worms, since it will be more and more difficult with them because there are too many of them, but they can be taken to other creatures
by the way, can I use the idea and survive in caves to make a video about it on the channel? I'm wondering how good I am at dst and I need to make a video on the channel
Poor poor you, if you spawned at the cave portal spawn you'd get quite the headstart, you'd need to remove the overworld in your cluster file then regenerating the same world and you'd spawn in caves directly
You could've haunted your lantern in an attempt to get a light source. Maybe that would've helped
In summer I always enter the caves to live in, bc I hate overheating, wildfires and ant things
For that I just create 3 beehives, they solve all the problems with food, especially if you are located in mushroom biom, green or blue
With that base you can bit by bit conquer whole caves, and 5+ worms are not much of a problem (even without rock lobster gang's™ helping claw)
Wendy and wilson would be a super powerful combo in a ruins base, wendy (Abigail) mass murder monkeys for morsels, fuel, hair, poop, and most importantly bananas. 2 bananas and 2 sticks (that wilson can get from trees) makes a stupidly good food. That gives 25 hunger, 33 sanity and 8 healing.
Tried a solo base with just wilson and careful peeling of nightmare monkeys, made a very solid ruins base, only reason i ever left was for grass.
WHile this probably isnt a challenge for you, youre way better than we were but our challenge to ourselves was a wurt run, the difficulty of her being vegetarian, the swamp being super hostile and the Merm houses being a bit expensive last i played made it quite hard for us
You overestimate our skill :) Wurt was gonna be a pick for me (shes one of my mains, love her) but not being able to get kelp for the king of the merms would of made her significantly weaker.
Wendy would have been an easy mode character for this because Abigail can put monkey's into a blender even if they go shadow mode, that would give infinite meat and banana's for food, nightmare fuel for whatever you wanted, and even beard hair for making effigies if you wanted.
I've seen a treeguard setpiece down in the caves once
That would have been good for us!
