- In this video I'll show you my first experience with this EV and EV's in general while going on a car vacation. I must say this was my first trip with an electric vehicle. So if I were to do it again, it will go much more smoothly (I hope). The Peugeot e-208 active model is the base model of this car, and has a 50kwh range.

Edit march 2024: I now own this car for more than 2 years and I can say, I still enjoy it. BUT, the range is terrible. Realistic range is now around 215 in winter time, probably around 230 summertime. If you drive 130km/h you will see it drop even faster. I will maybe make a follow up video.
I own an e-208 for almost 1 year and it drives great. I hope you can help me with some info about your experience with e-208. 1. Is it any way to show state of charge percentage without phone app? 2. Estimated range is a mess, when unplugging the charger it shows 230km, but when I start it, in normal driving mode it displays 190km. Is it the same on your car? 3. When going from regen to throttle, can you hear a weak clicking sound? (I can hear it only with Radio Off and Ventilation Off)
@@dragoscucu3128 Percentage is a mess, app shows when it wants, not reliable. Estimated range is a tough one, as I've not driven any other elecric car. One time I was driving in rain, while going 150km/h on the german highway, and range dropped from 320 to 130 in 15 mins. I was scared the battery was defective, but it just re-adjusts really agressive.

@@dragoscucu3128in regards to the clicking sound. I have my 208 now 2 days (brand new) and I am a freak when it comes to these type of sounds. And yes mine does it too. I think it’s just a relay opening/closing to alternate the flow of current. Nothing to worry about.
I went to France last week with my e208 it was also a 2000km round trip and I used the Tesla supercharger network for 80% of charging which made it very easy I drove bit below speed limit I did use the AC because it was very hot we drove stretches of 170 km sometimes 190 km at 115km/u consumption was at 17.8 kwh/100km it was a really nice experience.
When I was in Italy with my e208, in the mountains consumption is 14,5 kwh per 100km. And it costs nearly nothing! Anyway glad you like your car, it’s very nice 👊

It sure is nice! And although I describe a few problems, it's only to show what can go happen. If you use a bit of planning and the right app, it's as easy as pumping gas.
Great video. I have the same car and have experienced similar issues on a trip France, Spain Portugal recently. I think you have to have a mindset of “it’s an adventure”. Hopefully the infrastructure will get better over the next few years.
Indeed! I was stressed the first trip though, always looking at how much percentage I got left. With gas car it’s just like “oh we’re low on gas, there’s probably a gas station like 5m from here” but with ev’s, it could be anywhere from 20minutes or longer away and you’re not even sure yet if it’s a fast charger. But I think it will get better in the future

Thanks alot! I appreciate it. My experience was fine overall, but it can get really stressful if everything just doesn’t go the way you wanted. It requires a little planning, even in Germany.
It's worth mentioning that some hotels have 220V outlet in the underground parking, so you can charge overnight.
@Dragos Cucu I had that too, but then you find out some hybrid car that has 20 km electric range takes the spot for the whole night 😂😅

It’s a great car! In a few years, infrastructure is fixed and it will be a very wanted car I think.
this video deserve more views. very nice and honest review. Also i plan to go for 208. But i am not sure benzin or electric :). The range is not so good as a first family car. Did you had any issue with electric stuff? charging etc? This should be the series after the new gearbox tool. Enjoy your EV car as much as possible.

Thank you so much. It was around 120 for the total trip. In Germany there were alot of fast chargers close to Aldi which were free of charge, on the highway fast chargers are around 0,6-0,85 cents per kwh and slow chargers at the hotel for example were around 0,3-0,42 cents per kwh

Have you tried anwb route planner? It also shows a lot of charging stations, I didnt tried that myself, do you have experience with that?
Yes I have, but the problem is that is doesn’t show the current status. So just like a Better Route Planner, it will sometimes send you to ones that are out of order, and I don’t want to take that risk when I am driving long distance
Good consumption, comes out to around 15.6kWh/100km. One correction, heated seats are very efficient for heating in an EV. Consumes under 50watts per hour so a lot better when compared to the heatpump which heats the entire car.
You are right about this! Only heating up the car consumes alot of power.
Anyone know if Peugeot use a LFP battery in the e208 and e2008?
No, they use Lithium-ion battery

I am really interested in the IONIQ 5, but haven’t driven it. The only downside of this e208 is the range. Which is around 230-270 km in winter. But other than that, I am still very satisfied with my car.

Not sure anymore but it was around 0,6-0,8 per kwh. Normally charge around 30-40kwh (since car is 50)

Try to use the opened Tesla Supercharger instead of waiting.
Yes I’ve heard, but you’ll need to pay through the Tesla app and have Paypal right
Using tesla supercharges solves a lot of the charging problems, very cheap and i theres always a spot to charge

I've got the same Peugeot e208 but i hate it for long distance drives. The milage it indicates is so unreliable, it's just a joke. When it's full (280 km range) it often ends up i'm only able to drive half the range, so it's terrible to plan stops. It's also massively different every time due to cold or weather conditions. I also have a Tesla model S which emphasizes how bad the Peugeot is compared to others, because I can drive this car with full confidence till 1% is left and it exactly indicates the range. Please don't buy a Peugeot for a EV when it's you only car and more then a short trip backup car. There are so many better options.
Hey there, I still have this car but the video is a little outdated now. I completely agree with the mileage. I now get 215 km REALISTIC range in wintertime. Which is just bad. And also, if you drive 130km/h most of the time, it may be even around 190. Summertime is better, but still very noticeable that it’s a “budget ev”. Still enjoy the driving experience though
Zijn er een hoop uit 2020 te koop rond 20.000 euro na subsidie. Iets duurder dan een Zoe z50.
Ik zit te denken om er 1 te halen voor woon/werk.

First stop had nothing to do with how you parked though, they were taken or out of use. Are u sure you mean the first stop?
