    It would be interesting to see the N63TU3 vs the S63TU4! I think for example the N63TU3 also now has the plasma cylinder wall spraying

      It's more of the same. All the blocks are based off the same casting.

    There is a scratch on my F90 M5 engine block, which material is best for cylinder sleeve? which material did you used on that N63 engine? are they reliable ? Thank you.

    Quite interesting content 👍 , have wondered previously about beemer engines sharing similar components.
    Was going down the s63 route for our car but due to reliability issues we went S58 instead.
    Always handy to know about the hard coating , makes a rebore slightly more viable and a possible re coating. Maybe even a DLC coating 🤔

    Great video my man, so i have a specific N63 question for you.. So i'm in the process of doing my first N63 Complete rebuild. The block is a N63 from a 2014 BMW X6 50i drive. I believe the actual motor is N63B44A.. So i bought a set of brand new rings. Is this block alu seal?? can it be honed without sleeving? Or should i just reinstall the rings that back to their respective cylinders?? This was a running motor and so far all parts have measured to spec.. Thank you for your time

    • @KeselMotorsport
      @KeselMotorsport  Před 9 měsíci +1

      If cylinder bore has no excess ovality and surface has no scratches it can be refreshed by exposing alusil crystals and works as new. Rings do nto need to be replaced if they have enough spring in them and ring gap is ok.

    • @findfixxflip
      @findfixxflip Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks man for getting to back to me so quickly. So i learned since that my block is definitely alusil. I have also decided to do the self hone procedure with felt and paste to get ready and re ring the block.. i'm going to measure the bores today, but i have noticed that one of the pistons has two finger nail deep scratches on the skirt so there was some sort of motor issue before and was rebuilt before my acquiring this engine.. Because of this i think it's a good idea to just re ring with new set and proper clearances since im putting brand new parts , bearings, etc... I will let you know how everything goes after.. @@KeselMotorsport

    • @findfixxflip
      @findfixxflip Před 9 měsíci

      Hey bud so here's a quick update.. So upon deeper inspection of the block during measuring i found cylinder num 4 with a decent size gouge and another finger size scratch as well. This corresponds to the piston because there are 2 fingernail deep scratches on the skirt and a gouge at the bottom. So i'm going to use the original block that doesn't seem to have any damage in bores. However this block did have 2 spun bearings, the rods 4 and 8.. I figure i clean everything extremely well and swap the parts..
      On to my second issue i used a wire wheel on the area around the oil rings to remove carbon, but i scrubbed the sides and skirts with purple power and grey 1000 grit scotchbrite.. I checked with calipers and they still are same measurements as pistons i didn't clean from other motor.. Will these be ok to use or did i mess up royally?@@KeselMotorsport

    Hi, great video, just a curious question, I have a 2016 x5M with 980000km on it and #2 cylinder is burning a lot of oil. Plus is wet and heavy smoke from passenger side exhaust. Engine runs rich and doesn't throw any oxygen sensor codes. Always get the powertrain power loss code #2 cylinder misfire and when I get in there with the scanner it's always history, very rarely active. The power loss is not consistent. It could run for a while without any issues and then it'll keep getting the power loss message again and again. The coils and plugs have been changed, and gapped properly. Thought that's what it was but only wishful thinking I guess. CCV lines are new. Haven't takes the turbo piping off to see if turbo seal is gone but then again oil burning only starts after around 10 mins of running. Then it's quite a bit. Added octane booster to it and ran good for a bit, so thought need to use 93 or higher octane fuel, but that wasn't it either. The previous owner had it tuned and just thinking the tuner maybe missed some fueling parameters. He said it started running like that after the tune. Dealer syas engine no good that's why powertrain malfunction keeps popping up. If it was engine, that powertrain loss would be consistent, I think anyways. It's just whenever it feels like it. Coils tested out of the engine, tested good.#2 spark plus was quite dirty due to oil being burned in the cylinder. Any ideas to point me in the right direction for more diagnostics? Thanks in advance

      I have a 2017 X5 M and had some other X5s as well, but I always sold them after they got above 100K miles because there was always something to fix.
      I do not recall ever seeing any X5 with over 300K miles, so yours is truly amazing. Share some photos if you do not mind.
