"Luminol" from Steven Wilson's "The Raven that Refused to Sing" album (2013).
This year's "Remake Week" is definitely inspired by the arrival of my new Warwick bass. My older Luminol video has about 15K views and it's full of little mistakes, so I wanted to redo it, just like I did with Sorceress.
I chose to play and record it without a pick because I feel like it's a lot more fun without a pick. However, you'll never get that punchy sound by playing without a pick, so it's a sacrifice really. Tone or fun? It's up to you. I just felt like this was a good song to try out the new bass along with Saturday's video.
Some important information that nobody is going to read.
Tuning : E-A-D-G
Artist : Steven Wilson
Bassist : Nick Beggs
Album : The Raven That Refused To Sing (2013)
Song : LUMINOL
Bass : Warwick GPS Corvette 5A Ash
Luminol is a masterpiece!!! It's like Steven Wilson made a nail then Nick Beggs provided the hammer to drive it home!!!!!!!
This song gives off some real boss battle vibes, love it
I just have to say thank you so much for this. My bass instructor suggested this song. With your guidance, I was able to play this song better than he was after just a week. It was my last session with him. So I guess you're my new instructor lol. Thank you as well for putting the difficulty level down in separate playlists! It makes a world of difference.
A pleasure man! I gotta say, your bass instructor suggested a really difficult song! Thanks for letting me know that those playlists are helpful :)
about a year passed since the time it was uploaded and it turned out i am now able to play it along with your vid. Thank you !
That's incredible!
This song is so much fun to play
Dude, please do The Holy Drinker off this album!!
Started learning this, because a friend is challenging herself to learn it. Just wanted to say thank you again for all of these covers-it's a really great learning tool!
Noooo problem, I'm as always, glad to hear that the vids are useful
This is really really good, amazingly well played! Thanks so much for putting this up! It’s helping me immensely as I prep for an upcoming tribute gig.
Thank you! Good luck with the gig :o

That was awe inspiring. Excellent work!!
Thank you!
Just looked this up on a whim because I wanted to learn this song and you have the exact same bass I just bought a few months ago. I love how light weight it is and the Warwick sound is so sexy.
Really? I find this bass quite heavy!
@@LeoBassCovers2 oh shit maybe it isn’t the same lol. Mine is a corvette $$
i just got into SW and your video is a godsend! Keep up the fantastic remakes!
Thanks, will do! :)
I'm spending The Great Stay Home of 2020 learning this song on bass and this will be amazingly helpful. Thank you for posting it, it's awesome

I still need to work on getting smooth at that speed, but I'm getting there! All your videos are amazing and have helped me learn so many songs. Thank you for helping people like me learn the songs we love! It is massively appreciated!!!
Great to hear! I mean, this is a very difficult song. The intro is so damn fast and I still have trouble playing it to this day.
thank you kind sir
Keep up the good work man, i used your video to learn burden for a show in college
Oh wow, that's amazing!
Haven't seen you in a while fam! BASS!
Great!!! 👏🏻
Thank you!
Sick cover, and thanks for the tabs
I’m wondering if you could cover personal shopper by Steven Wilson as I cannot find any tabs anywhere
great!
Thank you!
Very nice cover man, what happened to the old channel? Copyright strike?
Anyway thank you for helping us noobies bassits out, hope you'll gain your subscribers back fast !
No problem! this is actually the back-up channel for Leo Bass Covers. The main channel is now my band's channel due to Article 13 (copyright law).
can I ask you how did you find the bass backing track...?
I didn't cause there is no backing track. I'm just playing on top of the original track with some EQ to remove some low frequencies.
@@LeoBassCovers2 okay, thanks a lot
Welp I’ve finally gotten the speed down accurately but now my hand cramps before I get to the first break💀
It'll come :)
@@LeoBassCovers2 and 8 days later of practicing other song I can play it. Now I just gotta get rite of passage sounding good😅
Home invasion Steven Wilson
Nice sound ! What do you use for having such a sound ? I am recording on ableton and i am a beginner :/
Thanks! I didn't do much for this tone actually. The bass was brand new so it had new strings to begin with. Other than that, having good plug-ins also helps. I used an Ampeg SVT-VR amp simulator plug-in which gives me that very clear signal.
