The album was written between January-July and recorded in Los Angeles in September with Steven's current band line up of Guthrie Govan - lead guitar, Nick Beggs - bass guitar, Marco Minnemann - drums, Adam Holzman - keyboards, Theo Travis - saxophone / flute, and engineered by legendary producer/engineer Alan Parsons. The 6 tracks on the album are all based on stories of the supernatural, and the deluxe 4 disc edition comes in the form of a 128 page hardback book containing lyrics and ghost stories illustrated by Hajo Mueller. In addition to the deluxe edition there will be regular CD, CD/DVDV media book, Blu-Ray and 2LP vinyl editions, with the DVDV and Blu-ray editions featuring a 5.1 mix of the album and other bonus material.

I've listened to the song over 100 times. I love it. I listen to it if i need an answer. This song is my center. I'm even planning to get a tattoo with something out of this. But please tell me, why is it named luminol???
I´ve a theory=
(I maybe really wrong, correct me if so, please)
In chemistry -OL means "alcohol"
"Lumen" from latin etymology "Light"
So, can be referred as "An alcohol derived from light", that can make sense with the "Holy Drinker" metaphor in the same album.
I understand it as a spiritual beverage that brings knowledge, wisdom or "inside lightning"...
@Fenderking From what I've read, the song is about a street musician who is ignored by everyone, yet he keeps busking. He is a ghost while still alive.
@@HiramBlackSheep It's a lovely dissection, but Luminol is a fairly well known chemical used to detect bloodstains and other bodily fluids by making them fluoresce. So the name's around the idea of an otherwise unseen bloodstain being revealed, fitting somewhat with the ghost-story aspect of the album.

I was told a show in Germany was filmed as the band still had Guthrie and Marco..I don't know when they plan on a DVD/Blu-Ray release , but at least its "in the can" so to speak. btw would love if they do a film on the October 20th 2013 show coming up at the Royal Albert Hall..epic! And this group and material deserves all we can get :)

MrCookie31c I'm pretty sure all of the musics there know how to read and write music. Probably they helped, or any one involved in the production.

i feel saxophone should have been extended in the song holy drinker ,the played at 1.04

It was recorded live for the most part but there were still a lot of overdubs.

+sturoc0 According to Wikipedia, the album was recorded during 15-21 September 2012. They probably made deals to have the studio, personnel and gear for a week (recording sessions in commercial studios always work in blocks of time), so they had time for some self-enjoyment as long as they stayed within this timeframe. Moreover, with a daily rate of 2,5K USD for the room they used, recording studio costs were probably the least of their worries, even they spent half their time messing around.
