  • I'm back, and about to hit the River Thames at low tide. Join me down on the foreshore Tide Travellers! It's a bumper day, with finds galore. Lots and lots of beads, glass gems, cloth and bag seals. I find my best cloth seal yet!
It's the tidal River Thames at low tide, where we experience London in a totally different and unique way.

Another wonderful trip with you on the foreshore. You find the best things -- loved the magnet play. Shouldn't we all be kids at heart? Loved all the seed beads and imagining what they would have been on and how they found their way to the Thames. Anna's collection of glass roses was choice. Marvelous time spent.

Definitely we should all hang on to a little child-like wonder! Anna has a fab collection! It's still growing!

I should also like to say that your glass bead finds are remarkable.
Glass is a language,it speaks things eternal.
Here is a zany story for you,it’s based on a story of mine that you know.
I made that promise to the River,to place back my very first find, which was a bit of green ware.
    Seconds later,I found a super pipe bowl,circa 1620.
But here’s what you don’t know.
I was carefully making my way down very green sloppy stairs, down to the foreshore.
I was being very careful, but at the third to last step,I fell like a stone!
I fell upon my right side, bruised my hip,no big deal.
I also fell on my right hand,my little finger, well,it kinda hurt.
And continued to,for many months after!
I basically fractured my pinkie finger!
To this day,I cannot hold my pinkie finger straight.
    My souvenir of the Thames.
I think That mother Thames needed to take a bit more from me,rather than finding a green ware sherd, she taught me a lesson.

Good grief! That's some souvenir! I wonder if the stairs were in front of a certain naval college? Some time ago my cameraman chap took an awful tumble down those stairs. It was fearsome! Never mess with the green slop of the Thames, or its green wares!

Yep,the naval college stairs, that’s exactly where it happened 🤣

Know this,Marie,as I have touched on this piont in the past, but I must reiterate,re-explain.
There are 2 types of rivers.
There is male river, there is female river.
The Thames,it has been horribly Mis indentified.
A female river experiences the tides,a female human experiences tides, you know what I mean.
A male river, such as the Congo,or the Amazon, they rage on,they bow to no tidal language, they only understand the language of finding the path of least resistance, they desire only to reach the sea.
A female river, the Thames, the Hudson, too, they enjoy the poetry of tides, they befriend the moon.
I hope this makes sense, dear Marie..

    • @OLDFATHERTHAMES
      @OLDFATHERTHAMES  Před 2 měsíci

It does make sense, actually! I think of the river as all the people who touch it.
