In this video I show you how I replaced my gear linkage bushes and arms as well as how to properly set up and alight all of the linkages for the 711.113 Mercedes gearbox on my 310D.

Great video Max, a very handy reference for others especially as gear linkage problems seem to be very common on these old beasts (but very simply fixed at the roadside when you know how they work!) Great tip about the coat hanger to align the rods at the gearbox end, thank you. One extra piece of info that may be of help to others : You’ll see what looks like a part number embossed on the gear levers (the 3 on the side of the gearbox) but as I’ve learned, these are not the Mercedes part numbers. Instead, they are the aluminium cast numbers. Had me (and my Mercedes garage) fooled for a while!
Also Max, what was the part number for the piece you broke please (and lucky you found one on eBay!)

Yes that's what I'd heard and have a friend that had loads of problems, So thought I'd overhaul them to prevent issues! But yes very simple design! Yes I did know about that whilst I was doing my research! Completely forgot to add it into the video though!

Hello, I have a small problem on my Mercedes 307 5 SPEEDS that I just bought, the gears are reversed, the first is in the reverse gear position, the second in the tosieme seat....... ...?????? do you have an idea? Wouldn't that sometimes be the linkage that is mounted backwards? maybe the speed selector is not the same? Thank you for your answer
First it’s left and down just so we’re clear👍 but I can’t see how it could be put on to be reversed but I’m no expert!
Thanks for this, so the early Sprinter cast linkages fit the T1 as well? Looks good if they do, hard to get these days for original t1.
I don’t know if this is the same as early sprinters. It’s just a German company re making the cast arms and selling on eBay for about £15 each! Had to, now I have the old as spare👍
Hola amigo e cambiado mi caja de mi 409d de la 711110 a la 711113,un cambio increíble por cierto,pero tengo un problema,de 3.ª a 4.ª me rascaba y e tocado las barillas y las palancas que usted muestra en el vídeo y ahora me rasca de 5.ª marcha a 4.ª marcha,solo un poco,no en otras marchas,que piensas que puede ser? Espero su respuesta gracias de antemano saludos desde España

No not really I just bought them incase they snapped and thought I’d replace them anyway
