Southgate’s “negative“ tactics got you lot to two finals, unfortunately for England you just came up against a better team yesterday. Also it’s very easy to point fingers at the manager but how about some of the players come out and hold their hands up. Foden was shocking all tournament, had about 20 good minutes against Holland but apart from that he was awful, literally dead weight, Declan Rice was another one who was average at best, Kane was poor.
Guehi, Pickford, Mainoo & Palmer ( when given the chance ) were England’s best players.

Paul is 100 percent right. Please just look at this game, England scored and had momentum and he didn't make a sub when they lost it. Kyle walker has a throw on, the ball ends up back to Pickford and he hoofed it up there. THAT IS POOR GAME MANAGEMENT. England barely got a kick of the ball after that. England slept walked to that second goal because Southgate couldn't recognize the game was back in Spain's control. Guys we need a manager who will at least make us play with confidence at least, but we also need better tactics. Watch the Spain vs Germany game, that was the actual final. I mean this with the greatest respect, but it would be extremely difficult for us to find a worse manager than Southgate. He was vastly over promoted to begin with

England got to the final - a better result than 52 out of 54 countries - surely that's a very good performance?
Why do some people seem to to think they did badly?

Foden was a passenger all game and he was kept on until the 88th min when Spain scored their second. I was screaming bring on Gordon and kill the game or bring on Conor to balance the mid because Foden was lost and tired. Southgate can't scout players, he only selects top club players. That mid was so imbalanced, he selected Gordon and didn't play him when he was needed. Pep tricked him in believing Foden could carry him but we all know Palmer is levels ahead.

    England played the final:
    - with 10 men (Kane was a passenger)
    - without a proper left winger/ left sided forward. So effectively played with 9.5 men
    - never resolved the Foden-Bellingham conundrum. So really down to 9 men.
    - with the equivalent of almost 2 more games than Spain with 2 lots of extra time and penalty shootout to Spain one’s one extra time plus in their 3rd group game resting all their players
    - had one day’s less rest than Spain after their semi final.
Little wonder then that the Spanish looked far more energised.
CONCLUSION: Southgate simply did not use his squad well enough. Should have used Toney, Watkins, Cole Palmer, Gordon, Bowen etc far more.

what makes me so bloody mad, the excuses Southgate came out with last night, Spain had an extra day to prepare, frankly it would not have mattered if we had 2 weeks more than Spain, Spain went into comp with a plan and it bloody worked, Southgate complaining our players were knackered,he knew there was potentially 7 matches, he took 6 players with injuries, only using 6 different subs throughout tournament, that is why you have a squad,to bloody use them in friendlies and lower ranked opposition, if you don't think they are good enough, then why bloody take them, he had weeks/months to try different players, and we are still pissing about trying different players to play alongside Rice, 5 BLOODY GAMES INTO TOURNAMENT, he had the choice of whoever he wanted from PL and EFL, We played like league 2 team, as Rob Dorsett said on a few occasions, this was the most ill prepared team i have ever seen and Rob Dorsett, why didn't he have equal calibre players to come on as sub or start, that's what Pep does, It was a kick in the teeth for all the fans who spent their hard earned money on travel, hotels and tickets etc, Southgate should resign immediately, we had the far easier side of the draw, it would not surprise me if Grealish had a smile on his face, Southgate should give his wages to charity, IT WAS A BLOODY SHAMBLES, and when we start the nations league in division 2 because we got relegated through Southgate, PLEASE TELL ME IT WAS ALL A DREAM

O'Hara, literally didn't listen to what the caller said. We also didn't sit back when we scored, we lost position after using the momentum and then didn't get it back for 5 minutes which slowed it all down and gave Spain a chance to come back..
