    It's definitely worth it for convenience, but for someone like, for example, my brother in law or that guy who has half a tonne collected that 10-15% would add up very quickly

    • @Pugjamin
      @Pugjamin Před 9 dny +1

      That was only the raw scrap value. After time and fuel was taken into account greencable came out on top of all of them.

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r Před 9 dny

      @@Pugjamin agreed, but for example my brother in law is a scrap man (he drives around collecting it) so his monthly loads definitely add up. When I did it myself we'd weigh in the steel daily and then the non ferrous metals monthly and we regularly had a couple of tonnes. The monthly weigh ins sometimes hit £10k+ so if you think about it, £40 ish per £200 is £800 lost for what was basically a full day of back and forth to the scrap yard

    • @GreencableTeam
      @GreencableTeam Před 9 dny +1

      Absolutely, it's all about economies of scale. However, the more material you have, the more time, effort and resource it'll take to handle it.
      Our customer with 500kg per time would have to take at least half a day to ferry that to the local scrap yard, in their own vehicles - which would have to be cleared out etc. They're simply too busy with better paying work to have to do that so Greencable is the best solution. Important to note that in many regions we cover, we pay the same as regional yards - and sometimes more.

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r Před 9 dny +1

      @@GreencableTeam I do agree that for a lot of businesses, it would make sense. For those in the scrap industry, though, probably not. There are a lot of actual scrappers I know, though, that wouldn't benefit from it, especially if they weigh other metals like steel in at the same time. Plus, I know a few guys who go mental if their money isn't in immediately, lol. It's definitely a great business, though. I genuinely hope more people use your services 😀

      Customers are welcome to install locks on their bins if they wish, however most don't need to as they're stored in a safe place at all times. Leicester - £1.85/kg today
      Doncaster - £1.85/kg - today
      Blackpool - we don't serve there yet
      It's worth noting that scrap yards will sometimes pump prices up on specific materials for a variety of reasons; market fluctuations, meeting sale orders with their buyers etc.
      In areas that are more difficult to access, we can't always pay the highest rates due to the costs we incur to serve customers there - and people naturally understand that.
      We aim to provide generally consistent, competitive rates for the materials we buy. Sometimes we'll pay more, sometimes a little less, but when you take into account the time and resource to do it yourself - we're typically a very appealing solution which is why so many people now choose to use us.
