    I have been living in Philippines about thirty year on and off. Staying safe is common sense I don't walk around at night alone. When it is dark I get to my hotel. I don't get drunk or use drugs. I treat people with respect the way I like to be treated. When you are out make sure there are people around. Any thing can happen but if you use common sense Philippines is wonderful country. I stayed for a couple of months in Cebu and realized life is much better in Thailand. Cost of living is lower and I can walk down the street in Bangkok at 11pm without having to worry about anything. Sure, you stay vigilant and I agree with Daniel that we need to stay where there are others around you, but overall, I feel safe here 99.9% of the time. When I asked a Filipino friend about going for a walk in a local park in Cebu City, her reply was "yes we have a park but too many robbers". I'll continue to visit there but I'll Thailand as my home base for the foreseeable future.

    Note: If you do editing yourself (cuts, changes of shots) remember about checking audio there. Simple check of left/right channels (and eventually balancing them) can help to avoid one-sided effect like this vid have. Besides that I agree with whole concept, as I "study" life there for a while now and it's true.

    Excellent advice from Rubeauti. Manila and most places in Luzon and the Visayas are perfectly ok as long as you don't go in the wrong area flashing your cash, fancy watches, jewellery and cell/mobile phones, you'll be fine. I spent some time in Midsayap a few years ago. The tension that I felt was palpable. I certainly stood out amongst the locals...being over six feet in height and a white Australian. It was the first time in all my travels that I wanted to leave a particular area. This was not long after the Marawi issues. My pick would absolutely be Cebu, when I return to live in the Philippines...Really enjoy your content, Ruby.

This being said I am interested to know about the surrounding areas also, such as coastal resorts, Lingayen and Dagupan for instance, are these places where other expats frequent in any number? Then 2 teenages, selling fruit being robbed and stabbed.
    Then number of shootings is crazy with bodies just lying at side of roads.
    Now the Philippines is relatively safe... but people do deserve to be warned of possible dangers!

    Great video! You're spot on with your research! The travel advisories from the US Embassy are pretty consistent with their warnings to stay away from the southern provinces/cities with the exception of Davao. Quezon being in such close proximity to Manila and Angeles, you need to use common sense when traveling there and treat it like you would if you were going to any big city. Talk to locals like Rubeauti to find out where you can, and should not go... Been to the Philippines twice now in the last 6 months, and I'll be back in February. I've had a great time! 🙂

    • @raymahannah4336
      @raymahannah4336 Pƙed rokem +2

      @@Rubeauti Well, I'm not sure why they think that... I bet most of these people haven't traveled before and are reading comments from someone else that got themselves into a bad situation because of their own superiority complex attitude, and pissed locals off who would have otherwise helped them. Rule number one, don't go to another country and bad mouth it while treating the locals like shit because you came from a richer country. It's always advisable to research a culture that you are not familiar with before you travel to a foreign country, and learn how best to interact with them. Many westerners just don't do this, and presume people in other countries will just adapt to them. Many of them have also never been taught manners... That is why most westerners get negative reputations that they deserve for being arrogant, and disrespectful instead of polite and humble. We are your guests, but we need to show respect. That is something that is not just given, it's earned! 🙂 My experience with the Filipino culture in general, and especially in the hospitality sector, is that they are very polite, patient, and accommodating. You would be surprised how far just a little common courtesy goes in a stressful situation, and changes moods from defensive to very helpful and understanding... 🙂😉

    Hi I travelled to Zamboanga City in 2019 to meet friends and family and they looked after me really well and I felt safe for the 18 days i stayed there however it should not be under estimated and I appreciate your information, really need to be cautious. Thank you Rabeauti 👍 💕

    I studied abroad there. I transferred colleges from Cavite to Cagayan de Oro (from Mindanao) and all my classmates were scared for me 😂. Mindanao obviously has a bad streak of crime and a bad reputation but other provinces and cities there like Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon is quite safe and has about the same crime rate as that of some cities in Luzon. As for Marawi, Muslim classmates from Cagayan de Oro told me that it used to be relatively safe until foreign terrorist groups made a war there. It’s sad because she really wish people don’t think of Marawi as only a place of war and that’s it. So if anything the area in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro is okay. Even Davao was told by my relatives to be a bit more dangerous.. Other places that I know is safe in Mindanao is also the island of Camiguin

    I was never a Target over there and I look like a Filipino but I'm half Indian and Irish and African. I'll talk to a lot of guys in Zamboanga del Norte. I traveled all around the Philippines on my big bike I had no problem anywhere. It's worse and more dangerous to be in America around your own police. I got stranded on my motorcycle and car guyan way in the province and they took me to sogo hotel for a thousand pesos. And put my big bike in the jeepney. I'm glad I kept all the pictures I feel safe everywhere in the Philippines. But I wouldn't advise some people of a certain color, I won't say to go everywhere out there because you will look like a Target.

    There are really 2 sides of the Philippines. The side that you often see on CZcams abd the side that nobody wants to talk about. Good video. Thank you for bringing to light the facts and not just going with the hype.

    Well, u are right on point, honey child. How did 1 Pilipina get so smart and beautiful? Very good video!! As an American that has traveled to the PI many times, I can verify that there are indeed dangerous places there. But, I hesitate to visit New York City, Chicago, and many large urban areas in my own country. Common sense and paying attention to the area around u will serve u well wherever u are.
