  • Thank you to our alpha patron Gail for yet again another bangin' pick... this was sick! I've heard y'all bring George up before but we've never actually listened to him on the channel. Now I feel silly! This was amazing. SO much going on... George is a beast. The percussion was great. All in all, this was an amazing track.

Over 65 years old here now and when I was about 15 years old my sister took me to see George Benson and Minnie Riperton in concert together and we were seated row 5 dead center. Was the most exciting time ever. Look up those two and spin it up. Minnie's vocal range was 5 octaves. Fell in love in row 5 that night.

While shopping for my 1st "real" Stereo component set-up (turntable. receiver/amp, speakers, tape deck...) ,entering the Audio Store, they had a set-up that was playing the Album Breezin' !! As I remember, some 50 years later, I ended up spending nearly twice what I had intended to because George Benson captured my ears & my heart!! No regrets. lol

I have a dorky confession: I generally don't enjoy jazz unless there's a singer. Without a singer, I feel like I'm "waiting for the song to start." Jazz with vocals makes me so happy!! This was joyful.

He never liked the moniker "smooth Jazz saxophonist" but irregardless he recorded & jammed with some of the best in the industry. Thanks, L33 - this is my favorite by George! (what a voice).. appreciate your reaction.. (p.s. when I first heard this, I did not understand or appreciate the "jazz" sound.. my teenaged friends and I thought it was funny that he "sang with his guitar".. of course, it was an abbreviated version played on radio)...as I am so much older, I now can appreciate the talent and beauty... not usually a fan of "jazz".. but this blues/jazz style really moves me... you mentioned Frampton.. to me, it's more like Stevie Wonder..
