@Wild Huntress seriously!!?? Sounds ridiculous. I am a Filipina from a "third world country" as what you have mentioned and we filipinos coincidentally look very much like those manasseh tribe - face features, culture, values etc.. I reckoned we have the same roots. But i can't imagine myself living in Israel.. I mean, why would we want to live in a desert when we are already in a paradise, a land of abundant milk and honey. Where there are different fruits and vegetables all year round, food from the ocean, rivers and mountains. We are only tagged as Third world country because Credit card is not really a fad here in the Philippines. Only people from the major cities have savings from the banks but we have 7,641 islands and most of them doesn't have banks at all... But why are filipinos experiencing hardship in life that is because of those First world countries who envaded us, introduced us to their so called "standard of living" , made us forget our own history and culture...and those elites as they call themselves. I'd say we are not Jews but definitely hebrews as it is evident from our language, ancient scripts, even the name of ancients mountains are of hebrew origin... Want to know more? During the Holocaust where were these people? I don’t recall stories of Jews rising from every pagan country on earth in the 30s and 40s. A true Israelite would know their own home always. Not just after millions were murdered and died since to establish the state that exists today. They suffered nothing - they contributed nothing - now suddenly everyone is a Jew except the Jews 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's funny because the Garo tribe of Meghalaya, North East India also follow similar customs. As much as I know, our tribe who are still not Christian yet, believe in unseen God who blesses them. After harvest, we also belive that first harvest should be offered to that unseen God. We don't really practice idol worship, and so many of our customs and traditions are similar. But our tribe has never claimed to be the lost tribe of Israel.

If a blonde white skinned European and a black curly haired Ethiopian can claim lineage to the sons of Jacob then a brown skinned east Asian have also the same right. They may not be Rabbinic Jews but they might be descendants of the ancient Israelites who assimilated to the local people of that foreign land. Nobody had seen pictures of the sons of Jacob to tell us what they really look like. However we knew that Joseph married an Egyptian woman who might be dark skinned. And nobody knew how many of the descendants of Jacob had taken dark skinned Egyptians as wife or concubines. Hence, the descendants of Jacob nowadays could be of all colors and varying physical features, and that is probable if they intermarried and assimilated to other cultures for the sake of survival.

Manasseh or more commonly known as manmasse here in the North East India are a fairly large group of people and it becomes larger if the house of Zo is included. They are recognised by the local governments with different nomenclatures but all identify and embrace the name manmasse or Zo which is the elder of the two nomenclatures. I am not sure if we really have any connections with the modern days Jews but we certainly believe or had been told by our forefathers that we are children of an ancestor called manmasse who came from another ancestor called Zo and this Zo came from a land of plentitude and where his brothers dwell. This is not confined not only to those who refused to convert to Christianity but even to the most devoted Christians. Manmasse gained popularity only recently before that all identified with the nomenclature Zo. If you ask a Bnei Manasseh member if he's a Jew he will say yes, but if you ask the same question to a non Jew the answer would be, I am not a Jew I am manmasse.

@@li-jv9gowell, you might have not heard about us the thadou kuki, the doungel, khongsai, simte gangte etc. We are all descendents of manmasse. And yes we haven't forgotten you the darlong, rangkhol sakchep etc. We. Always remember you everytime our genealogy is unfolded. You have a large family back here in Manipur, Nagaland Assam and Burma. The mizos are also descendents of the same ancestor manmasse though they prefer to distance themselves from the rest reasons best known to them.
As of the Bnei Manasseh, they are the Judaism following group of manmasse. They decided to follow the religion they believe to have been followed by their ancestor who is the biblical Manasseh son of Joseph. Even Israel had granted the right to return to the promised land to the Bnei Manasseh recognising the kuki as the lost tribe of Israel. But one needs to convert to Judaism to return to the promised land because Israel is not democratic but a Jewish state and one needs to be a Jew to acquire citizenship of the country.

I am a Mizo, and the truth is most of us do not believe that we are the lost tribe of Bnei Manashe of Israel. We have no traditions or rituals that point towards it, and our language is totally different. Traditionally, racially, and culturally, we are closer to Burmese and Chinese or Thais. No Kosher, No prayers, No tradition originally relating to Jewish tradition. In fact, we were introduced to the God, Jehova or Yehwah, through Christianity, during the British colonial period, in which the NE of India became a part of British India. And we all became Christians. I have no problem with people converting to Judaism, but to claim genetic heritage is something else. But I have deep empathy for my people, when people are suffering, and are desperately looking for a better life, it is easy for them to align themselves with a God they already accepted as Christians, to convert to Judaism is just a step further. The morality that we follow is indeed very much in-lign with the morality of the God of the bible. If only our region was economically developed and thriving, people won't have to make incredible claims and move across the globe in a conflict ridden country just to have better economic opportunities. It breaks my heart. Indian Gov't please listen.

ALL Jews (not Indian or Ethiopian or converts) are related. ALL of them. "In particular, conversion of the region's populations to Islam appears to have introduced major rearrangements in populations' relations through admixture with culturally similar but geographically remote populations, leading to genetic similarities between remarkably distant populations like Jordanians, Moroccans, and Yemenis. Conversely, other populations, like Christians and Druze, became genetically isolated in the new cultural environment." In conclusions, the authors reconstructed the genetic structure of ancient Levantines and found that a pre-Islamic expansion Levant was more genetically similar to Europeans than to Middle Easterners.
**"The Druze people, a "genetic sanctuary" for the diversity of the Near East in antiquity, have been found in genetic studies to be the closest to Jews** of the populations in the Levant. Lebanese also cluster closely with Jewish ethnic groups, closer than Syrians and Palestinians"
Family tree time (of the Levant): ALL Jews (Sephardi and Ashkenazi) genetically cluster in one branch; Druze from Mount Lebanon and Druze from Mount Carmel are depicted on a private branch; and Lebanese Christians form a private branch with the Christian populations of Armenia and Cyprus.
