I honestly don’t understand the difference between pollard pruning and normal pruning of JP. How to avoid this mess and what is the difference?

Google it... Imagine you have a lollipop in front of you, and then you take a knife and take the top off. It's no different. This technique is often done on fruit trees, weeping willows and many other trees. It's pretty harsh but on the wrong tree, such as a JM, the effect is terrible.

Pruning is about thoughtful cuts, well-timed cuts, proper tool usage, and deciding when something should or shouldn't be pruned. A lot of damage is done quickly that can't be undone without a little bit of education.

I did google it but everything is why you should do it. I was trying to understand the science behind why it grows a mess and doesn’t activate the two prior nodes as with “normal” pruning
