  • If you're like me, when you think of Pennsylvania, what cities come to mind? For me, it's always been Philadelphia & Pittsburgh. Well, a new city has climbed my rankings of one of the nicest cities I've visited and is most definitely right up at the top in the State of Pennsylvania! Harrisburg is a city of endless architectural beauty and it's location along the gorgeous Susquehanna River make this place a definite hidden gem!

I live in California now but spent many years growing up in central PA. Harrisburg is just a sad little city in the middle of backwards Pennsylvania. Good memories growing up out there but it's pretty much just a depressed little city about 30 years behind the times. Everytime I fly back, it's like stepping into a time warp.

Hello, everyone, I lived in Harrisburg from 2000 to 2004, and I remember that even though sometimes you find, with difficult and racist people, the majority of its people are very friendly people, I lived opposite the east mall , and had a magnificent neighbors. I still remember in my mind to a beautiful place.

Pennsylvania has the best cities in America. We have historic, urban small cities like Harrisburg, York, Erie, etc., that offer big city amenities. We have Pittsburgh, which is one of the best mid-size cities, and we have Philly which is one of the great American cities.

I moved to PA from San Francisco over 2 years ago, my husband and I love Harrisburg and so many people in PA hate on it. Every city has crime and violence, welcome to humanity, but finding the beauty is easy. Thank you for the video. Some great murals to find around the city too!

I'm from Harrisburg or better known as HBG, and it's really not that unsafe compared to Philly, Baltimore, DC, or Pitt. Yes the city is really boring and not what I would call a city but wow I can't believe so many people think it's so crime infested. Really the city is quite quiet compared to those I listed above. If you are afraid of HBG you should just stay at home this place is really not a dangerous place and the only time you should worry is if you are apart of the crime and drugs. Otherwise as a normal citizen I have not encountered too much crime.

Don't tour there alone, and never walk there alone--- anywhere in Harrisburg, and anytime day or night. Keep your car locked, your money, wallet, jewelry, and electronic property concealed if you want to keep them. And, my advice is to stay out of the Hill and the abandoned areas all over Harrisburg. There's a reason why there isn't enough tourist revenue coming in--- and there is a reason why people are moving away--- and it isn't because Harrisburg is safe. It's anything but safe and crime free. And, it is a city in monetary deadlock--- not "The City on the Move" as it is touted in advertisement signs nor on the levels of crime and degradation and personal hardship from being almost continuously robbed and attacked I experienced there for 17-1/2 years as a former Hbg citizen. Not hating on Harrisburg or it's people--- truth is truth, like it or not. Unsafe is unsafe, plain and simple. Got nothing to do with who's what ethnicity, so let's be real here.

The HolyShitFiles that’s not very true... I walk around the city all the time and have no issue...I lived there all my life and if you wanna know a bad city, come to south central LA and see if you can walk a couple blocks. Harrisburg is only bad in black hood areas ( let’s be honest ) it’s kinda segregated to.. White people move over to the east shore and they kept the blacks on the west shore... the west shore has a a lot of beautiful areas and you’ll feel comfortable being around other cultures. Usually people that say stuff like this are from the east shore and have never been around minority’s so they’re scared of what they don’t know. Scared do to there lack of knowledge and life experiences, so they go by what people tell them then usually they’re very uneducated

I honestly have no clue what you're talking about. I've been living here for a long time now. I go to a school right next to the capital and there are like, five police stations. I have never experienced or witnessed a crime in my time living here. Now, I'm not saying there isn't crime here, I'm sure there is. But I go into this shady garage all the time to get picked up. and the worst that's happened there was some dudes smoking weed and a couple of guys asking me for money.

You are correct sir. The garbage is infiltrating the west shore. Kept having demonic experiences for two years with criminals on both sides of my home, as well as criminals all over Mechanicsburg borough. BoRough police are very CORRUPT. FINALLY God gave us a new home outside the borough and much of that activity has stopped attacking my husband and me. ALL PRAISE TO JESUS CHRIST.

    • @stickerlady1774

Jesus is King My father-in-law hated driving through Atlanta said it felt very dark and wicked. I didn’t understand what he meant because we never drove through there (we drove through Athens). Can you elaborate? I would say the Harrisburg suburbs are good for children. I personally would stay out of the borough, unless perhaps you can afford the less sketchy areas. Housing is mostly overpriced but still relatively affordable where you can buy your own home. Schools are pretty good. I would say the people here are stuck up. It’s the type of area where people stay for generations, breed, and never leave. Those who move away for good are either military, wild child, or genuinely hate their parents. Weather is moderate for all four seasons and isn’t hit with a lot of natural disasters. Gas and real estate taxes are very high but no clothing tax. There is a religious wealthy ‘megachurch’ false spirit here and took me YEARS to find a biblical church and that is a long story. The true believers are like needle in a haystack. Lots of female narcissists here. Beware if you are a single man. Beware if you are female looking for friendship. The men are shady but women will hug you and stab your back. Lyme disease is spread here so get treated right away. Lots of youth are drug and alcohol users and partying, even ones in so-called church youth groups. Totally ridiculous yet no-one cares. I think a lot of teenagers are shady and need taught discipline morals and respect. They especially need to be saved by God.
Bless you and hit me up for mo’ questions...

Many of the parents in Harrisburg ignore traffic laws with their kids. Many of these parents are civil servants. Youth in Pennsylvania deserve law-abiding, ethical and conscientious civil servants. Their future depends upon it. What do you think? Should traffic fines be doubled in capital cities? Imagine law-abiding streets and adults in Harrisburg! Imagine!!!
