Loved this. I was born and raised in Harrisburg in 1944. Lived there for 21 years and spent many good times at Hershey Park that was nothing like it is now. Whenever I have trouble getting to sleep, in my mind I visit the old days at the park and I can recreate ever step from the entry by the sports arena where the Hershey Bears played and I learned to ice skate, to the laughing lady at the fun house. My favorite ride was the Cuddle Up. And when I experienced my first earthquake living in South America, I thought of the moving floor and barrels in the funhouse across from the bandshell. Too bad times cannot be that good again. Muchos Gracias mi Amigo!

Thank you for sharing Marlene. I love hearing everyone's experience when I create these videos. One of my first videos was of Queens, where I grew up and hadn't gone back since 9/11. All those great memories of my youth came front and center, but the old neighborhood has drastically changed so much that I could no longer call it home. I can only imagine how beautiful Hershey Park was back then.

Hey I’m interested in relocating. I’m looking between Harrisburg and Lancaster. I’m looking and advice? Looking for a clean quiet area. I’m a family man with young children so school and jobs are most important.

Pennsylvania Canals Eastern Division operated from Columbia up to point where it's now buried under the ramp we use from Chestnut Street as we come down onto Market Street as we walk to/from AMTRAK/Greyhound as it crossed Market Street to PHEAA building too the west side of tracks as buses are coming into and exit Greyhound.

Harrisburg is an underrated big town/little city. It's a good spot for a day trip from Philly or Pittsburgh and has a lot of beautiful surrounding countryside, especially around Lancaster. Quietly beautiful area.

The empty pairs on the West Shore side of the Susquehanna River was to be first bridge for William Vanderbilt's never finished South Pennsylvania Railroad as it was to be part of the New York Central RR lines, as it was to come off the Lebanon Valley Railroad that became the Reading Railroad lines as before the President of the Reading Railroad committed suicide before that he had worked with the Vanderbilt's and the Ahl't Brothers with Thaddeous Stevens to ready the Rutherford Railroad yard to work with the SPRR.

I’m really excited to get to Lancaster. Philadelphia will be the tipping point of the Valley regions so then I will shift my focus to the PA Piedmont which includes areas like Reading, Lancaster, and Gettysburg. The weather will also bring those areas to life.

During survey work for the South Pennsylvania Railroad the surveyors were planning to connect to the East Broad Top Railroad for SPRR to use the Sherman's Valley Railroad, but that plan was scrapped with the building of the line from Burnt Cabins along the Pennsylvania Turnpikes eastbound lanes through Kittatinny, Blue Mountain and Tuscarora tunnels as where the newer cell phone tower is now SPRR was to cut south to follow Truck PA 641 and PA 641 to reach Chambers Gap to cross North Orange Street in Carlise to wye onto the now rerouted PRR's Harrisburg to Chambersburg Railroad that now ends at Giant Foods warehouse, yet the line for the SPRR was to wye to SPRR's planned line to run crossing U.S. 11/PA 74 alongside the gas Station in Carlisle to use part of the Cemetary of Chambers Cemetery to service old section of Carlisle barracks onto through where the SPRR was to be where War Memorial is today onto to Chambers Cemetery to reach the trailer Court and CVS in Mechanicsburg to reach Memorial Park in Camp Hill on West Shore to wye to Readings line to enter Rutherford Yard.

This video will explain more on B&O RR, Western Maryland RR that became Railway and South Mountain Railroad as the South Mountain RR also was to become SPRR with others as the PRR Management with PA Democrats refused to work with the non PRR railroads by denying them access to Harrisburg as they weren't allowed to use the Northern Central Railroad as the WM took over the Baltimore & Susquehanna Railroad, as if this video don't show up in this post look for it in CZcams and slowly take notes to break it down. Pennsylvania Railroad Greenspring Branch as Frog 1954 breaks everything down stating into video about 11 minutes into the video. czcams.com/video/4JLpiHyL7u0/video.html

Thank you for the feedback, you can see the Rockville Bridge at the 2:00 mark as I drive through the tunnel heading to the bridge. Due to the Winter storm that started that day, it halted my production of the video. While walking the Walnut Bridge, I still wanted to speak about the Rockville Bridge and its importance.
