I’ve listened to 1000’s of hours of football podcasts lads, but this tops the lot. He went deep into his football and personal life. What a pod from Mac
What he doesn't explain about Liverpool coming up short all the time is that during actual top level matches, Liverpool were playing a pub team game called 'pass the pound' and Man utd and Roy Keane wouldn't have any truck with such childish carry on. Apparently whoever had the pound in his hand at the final whistle had to get the pints in! Disgusting.
You ain’t listened to that many hours of podcasts though have you
@@Tricky181 it’s tricky, tricky, tricky to say how many hours
Was never a big fan of JM as a player but after listening to this what a decent guy, funny and someone you'd love having round , fantastic listen that, thanks.
Collymore had it all in the locker as in ability but his mental problems held him back Steve Mcmanaman was class very underrated player in the premier league Fowler was class
Cluxton is a legend in Dublin football, Parky had me in stitches with the shout out on the platter in Gibneys.
Listening to this has really changed my opinion of him
Brilliant 👏 👏 👏
Absolute awesome 2 episodes. I was there for Jason's Bolton days, he was phenomenal then, and still is. A true legend.
Watched part 1 last night it was brilliant back today for part 2 cant wait.Keep up the good work lads👌
The quality is going up boys, reyt 2 parter that. I thought Jason came across as quite articulate and a good story teller, think this 2 parter gets into my all time top 5 Cosh podcast, all the best boys x
New to the channel fellas, and absolutely love it. Literally cannot stop watching, constantly got an Under the Cosh on here and on Spotify. I love the way you guys just tee up the stories and let the guys crack on with a bit of banter interjected, and thank got there are so many of the old footballers around because they are just full of stories. Brilliant stuff guys.
One of my favourite episodes to date. Keep up the good work lads 👍
This was a really good couple of podcasts, nice work.
I'd love to see you interview Peter Reid, he's an excellent character and can be really funny
One of the best I’ve heard, of all the different podcasts I’ve listened to.
The stories were good, his subject matter was brilliant!
Meet Jason after the World Cup in 94 I was only a kid and kept asking Jason how Bonner was coping. We were at a late summer football tournament on the Wirral
I don’t know him he played before I was born but out of every podcast of yours I’ve watched this is the best one. He speaks very well and seems a real nice guy
This comment makes feel really old
Great show, always enjoy all the stories, amazing how all the years of watching football you build a perception of players and yet they couldn’t be more different when you watch these
Great podcast - I like the fact you have all sorts of players top leagues and lower leagues
That was absolutely brilliant, so many funny stories and what a genuine down to earth guy…
Thanks lads, really enjoyed that.
Amazing, good work lads.
I’m glad to hear the background to his time at Blackburn. I was always really disappointed with him. I felt we never got close to enough from him. I understand why now.
Same with Keith Gillespie, never really showed up
hilarious start to finish. incredible
Brilliant two-parter.
Excellent one this really enjoyed it. Wasn't always a fan of him at Sunderland but having seen him speak now and mellowing over the years I've warmed to him. Seems a top lad.
Was he average when played for mackems?
@TokyoJoe703 started well for Reid and scored a few goals which helped keep us up. The next season we were relegated and he was injured a fair bit. In the championship he became captain under McCarthy and he was quite average, kept getting schooled off Dennis Wise when playing Millwall and then missed a penalty in the play off semi against Palace. I wasn't a fan at all after his first 7 or 8 months at the club, but he seems a decent lad.
Really enjoyed Jason's podcast . Great episode
Great episode. Missed a trick not asking him about putting the bike in the boot with Barnes after getting the bullet
What a brilliant episode!! He’s got an incredible story and he’s a great storyteller
What a great down to earth lad 🍀
Enjoyed that 2 parter 👌🏻
A brilliant interview. Certainly changed my opinion of him. Saw him play for Celtic once too, vs Liverpool at Anfield. Good luck to him.
Great episode lads👍
Another great chat. Looking forward to the Desailly and Gullit ones. 😁
Stumbled on this today & absolutely brilliant boys, I could listen to Jason all day 😊
Another great episode!!!!
Great episode.
Jason is amazing really opened up
What a great guest, that was superb.
One of the best, if not the best episode yet, as a Liverpool fan, I love him, I loved him at Liverpool and love him more now. McAteer quality footballer quality man 😜 UP THE FUC*ING REDS!
"we just landed in Saipan, for some reason we had jet lag?" 😆
Great interview
JMC was a proper player listening to this hes a proper lad to ...great interview
Quality watch this lads
McAteer is a funny lad 😂
Class that one
Absolutely Brilliant
Great show. Remember Sunderland playing a friendly at hibs Jason came over to the terrace to take a throw in. My dad stood and shouted “hey Jason your shit” Jason turned round “maybe but I am rich”😂
lol brilliant
Superb, seems a great lad..
that was really enjoyable - came into the first episode with an image of what the media had portrayed of him over his career - seems a proper sound lad (for a scouser haha)
John's next gig on the After Dinner speaker's circuit is at his local 'Toby Carvery' lol. Trigger was brilliant.
My Dad showed me that nettle thing and it's true. But you have to just grasp one leaf carefully. If you pick a bunch up in your hand your hands on fire. I liked the geese though ahaha.
Seems like a top kid Jason and another top podcast from under the cosh lads
Yet another great episode. Was a little gutted PT1 didn’t have a few more Bolton tales from the early 90’s . Good meeting you last night Jon.. I wasn’t a million miles away with my 1-1 prediction.
That was brilliant. Maybe gave Bono a reality check as well 😂
What a sound fella, sad what happened to Roy 👊👊
254th but the best yet ….absolutely brilliant 👍🏻
Sound lad 🙌
I was at the "put it in your book" game against United. Wish we still had that team!! 🙈
That Howard Wilkinson versus stinging nettles story cracked me up 🤣 what an idiotic thing to do... 🤦♀️ x
He's actually been a really good guest over both part1/2.
He’s a proper bell piece
Brilliant 😄👏🇮🇪
Best quote from any COSH episode " we tried to sign desailly , he went to chelsea , we tris to get matt elliott " i loved that Liverpool team, mcateer , fowler, redknapp , ruddock, mcmanaman . But they had zero discipline ! Times change , squads need to be changed especially when winning nothing
Class.
I was waiting for a clanger "We we're better than Man United" 😂
Club and city rivalries aside, fair fucks to him saying that about his gfs parents. Takes something to spill that on a podcast. Maybe just about ready to talk about it and you've given him the platform.
👏👏
Hope he felt a weight lifted. Great job as always
Top class
Brilliant 😂
Excellent, really enjoyed it….still love Keano.
Loved this, nice one lads! Loved McAteer when I was growing up, so was amazing hearing the stories!
Brill Jason, laugh a minute...
oh !...& thanks to the three Amigos,
Funny man top man.
Why does trigger think Keane would be arsed patching things up?! 🤣
I always thought McAteer was a bit of an idiot. I watched both episodes and I was wrong. He comes across as a normal, around bloke. Also,CA had a solid career and was a top performer for Ireland! Well done, lads, for the pod. Best in a long time 🎉
McAteer is actually very funny. Hes one of those guys that doesn't have to try. I never really rated him as a player, but i can see the value he would bring to the dressing room in terms of banter. On a side note, i can't believe Sunderland offered him only 5 grand a week if they made the Premiership. Tranmere paid him 2k per week to put things into context.
Played against Jason on a Sunday morning.. Wallasey Sunday league...he was obviously very very thick. 😂😂 seriously he was different class..
Brilliant pod lads,I think Jason has changed a lot of opinions on him👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Souness being a bellend confirmed once again
Was a brilliant player but seems like his man to man management is pish poor
Thought he was class at Rovers, and scored against the dingles, sorry to hear how it panned out
Bono is still stood waiting for Jason to rock up.
Listening to this just makes it more obvious as to why he didn’t have a career like Roy Keane or other players in the Man U team.
Serious question.. Why!??
Jason got Ireland to a world Cup, Roy walked out on Ireland on the eve of a world Cup. I've more respect for Jason.
He probably over achieved in his career. But realistically he wouldn't have even made the Man Utd bench
He must still be kicking himself for not turning up at that U2 gig, damn that one has to hurt especially that he could have potentially rattled Nelly Furtardo 😂
Even as a Newcastle fan I liked this, probably cos I'm Irish 😎👍🏻 Jason is brutally honest and comes across a good fella
Dave part 2😂😂
That's horrible hearing about Roy Evans, the last of the boot room team, sounds like houllier made some mistakes when he came, being so bullish about decisions with players he didn't really know must have taken its toll on him because then he had to prove himself.
Totally get Jason talking about losing someone close and the feeling of helplessness that goes with it
Where do i grab the fri😅day club?
Can that VPN thing be used on the Amazon fire sticks?
Yes mate
Good Krak Jason … I always thort he was supposed to be a bit of a divvy far from it nice lad too
Thought Brownie would've asked about losing his rag with Wise in the 204 FA cup semi.
Dreat interview non the less.
The fact McAteer calls Roy Evans “Evo” shows why that team could never win. Do u think the Utd players called Ferguson “Fergie”
Not a chance
Love that he still tries to play the dumb role sometimes with Keysy and Gray. Do miss watching them on Beinsports.

Desailly, nice. Matt Elliot???
Great podcast but the Liverpool lads were on the ale every week back in the day , the Cream and Conte
Decade before cream was called snobs. But it was still the same. They mix it conti then upstairs in snobs.
Wash an Go or Blow lol. Amazing Hair still ❤. Funny as fuck
Great podcast !! #JennaJameson
just watched the elbowing from Roy, fantastic work, gives it the big one then silence, beautiful thing is karma
“We were better than Man United and it just got to that point where they edged us and won the title” 11 points clear of Liverpool in 3rd in 96 Jason and 7 clear of Liverpool in 4th in 97 🙄
Never been as wrong about a person topdraw gentlemen
❤❤❤❤
Alright dave
That invisible arm. I couldn't see it.
