You're so much better than my Statics teacher. He wants us to study on our own and all he does every lecture is to solve the problems that we weren't able to solve while we were self studying. He does not even show the steps on how to solve a statics problem. He just solves it on the board. I rate you 9/10.
lol better than mine. I'm taking it online, the worst designed online class I have ever taken and he will not respond to my emails asking for help. He just gave us problem sets and the answers and our grade is just a midterm and a final. The "book" was written by him and the answer key gives wrong answers sometimes in the wrong units, worst class I've ever taken.
I actually enjoy my statics class but it just feels like a flood of information that we don't get much time to practice. Sometimes it just feels like plugging numbers into a formula rather than understanding what is actually happening.
Exactly how I feel right now. Physics II (Electricity and Magnetism) isn't so bad, just a bit more conceptual than Physics I ( Mechanics), same with Calculus III, and Differential Equations. This class is just something else...
Sorry for the long delay. I had the same experience in college as well. Sometimes I felt like I was just learning to pass tests. I do a lot better when I can figure out the big idea behind what I'm learning and then figure out the process for solving problems. In statics, the big ideas are that the structure can't move (static) and is rigid (no deformation). After that, the next step is the solution process I show here. BTW, it's absolutely OK to (politely) ask a professor to explain the big idea. Any professor should be happy and able to answer that question. It might take a couple tries to get an answer that you really understand, but that's OK. It might take a conversation in the professor's office, but any professor should be happy to have an interested and engaged student.
Man i'm so glad i found your channel. I'm studying these stuff at the moment and that video really help to re-memorize techniques of working it out. Thanks for creating it!
You bet. I'm glad the videos are helpful. If you like them, please spread the word. Also, thanks for starting with one of the older videos where I still had some brown hair :-)
enjoyed this video and wished professors would actually explain the reasonings behind some of the problems being done, for example, what is the purpose of knowing statistics and what does it relate too so someone like myself could understand greatly what these numbers and equations relate too.
Oof, my Physics 1 course is basically a physics, statics, and waves class. I've taken another college physics courses and they're like... really easy stuff compared to what I do at this university. our lectures are my professor just giving us formulas and us figuring out proofs for them, deriving more formulas, and applying multivar on tests.... too much stuff. Thanks for uploading these videos, I've seen them all, if it weren't for you, I would have definitely failed some tests this semester.
I hated statics....strange problems and stranger solutions... I could never solve a set of problems with a method or procedure from chapter to chapter. I got out of statics and find out in my later courses they simplified it to beams and finite element analysis which is much easier.
You know its really wonderful to see how simple these problems turn out to be :) I'm incredibly amused by my Statics lecturer, who has up till now, taken up 3 lectures on a similar problem, each lecture 1 hr 45 min... and he's not done with the problem yet!
excellent ...... I'm taking Statics this Fall, but I've been pretty much Relaxing summer long this was the Perfect Video to get me Mentally Prepared heading into this Class... and know i got a solid idea of what Physics skills i need to brush up on. Thanks
Considering your keen interest in Guitars, am I assuming right if I say, the opening Guitar piece is ALSO composed and played by you? Btw, your videos are AWESOME!! Thanks for the efforts to capture those in HD now! :)

Same with electricity & magnetism.

@@hawkeye2958 imagine me, an IE student, taking both General Physics II and Statics in one semester. Pray for me hahaha
This was in my recommendations lol. Been watching too many statics videos lately
Thank you so much, you're truly a talented teacher.
Sir !! Thank you so much I can't believe it finally makes sense!
It was really helpful. Excellent job. thanks
Awesome Video. Thanks!
Wow you're a life saver.

Amazing 🇺🇸❤️
could u plz ..upload the video on "how to locate centriod of the area bounded by different curves........use different curves......plz
you are amazing I want 3D forces videos please
Let me see if I can work something out
Thankuuu

+FabulousFoil I feel you, University Physics is a bitch
can you use matrices instead
I want to send a picture of that. How can I do it?
Oh god it's freshman year all over again haha jk jk very well explained just had to brush up so i could help my little bro out
+khalid sadig lmao why are you doing that?
***** why is engineering harder in english?
+khalid sadig where do you study?
Nice shirt. Oh yeah, great video too.
how do you get negative 2
Because the 1000N is acting in the negative direction (check his x,y and m coordinates at the start).
You forgot the optional step 6 on this one: "Enjoy baked goods".
Dang, you're right :-o

3:51 - Counter Clock Wise is NOT positive momentum.
Please, tell me where did you go to school
the1077936128
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockwise
counterclockwise is always positive
dumbass
B.J. Butler Why is that?
Clear and concise. Thanks, Mark French and Purdue. This video and video series is a service to education and a credit to Purdue University.
Thumbs up.
Wow, this was much clearer than my engineering professor! Thank you for the concise and helpful advice.
From: an intro engineering student!

I'm in a highschool pltw program and this helped me a little. I wish my teacher was this helpful. ;-;
thank you so much!! Mr Brian
Simple and helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for this video, it's really helpful..
this video helped me a lot..thank u
Great explanation sir...
thanks a lot .. its really helped he
Thanks for the statics help. Do you explain moment in another video?
Thanks for the vid.
all these people that do these videos are left handed. maybe thats why im having such difficulty understanding this stuff
believe me watchers are also left handed
Please could you make a vedio about the engineering principle behind the VRS barrier
well done
thanks

is there i computer program that can solve statics problems, just like pspies can solve circuits
Can I ask about something? I have a problem with an example from Satics.
how about the weight of the beam?
Statics don't include weight.
It'd just be a uniform load.
Abdelkrim Makki Statics does not include weight of the beam or the material of the beam.
thank you
Well, vid is ok. More preparation to avoid data omissions is needed.
suppose a white racist from south Africa could come to an American group
called Hindustan
bad teaching, because you explained the subject unprepared leading to mistakes
