- Bill Burr had quite the introspective mushroom trip which helped him come to terms with a lot of his anger issues, why he does comedy, and his upbringing. Is this the start of a new, less angry, Bill Burr?

@@Nico-lp6pn it means that while you're tripping you have these thoughts and realizations that seems so mindblowing lifechanging, that it's like a mountain bursting out in front of you, but after a few days of being sober and thinking, you realizing it's not mindblowing at all. it's just common sense.
That being said, taking LSD 1 time seriously helped me get out of a depression, stop drinking, drugs, and I started working out every day. It lasted for a good year, and I only ever took it once.
@@ZeranZeran If it was common sense, why didn't he realize it WITHOUT the mushrooms? Because the mushrooms MADE it common sense.
I dont think I've ever seen him more relaxed. It's like a huge weight just came off him, his energy is totally different. Good for him man I hope he keeps it up and stays grounded
He just hates interviews but is really chill on his podcast. Just going on tangents talking about random stuff. My fav comedian alive

He is always like this unless he is doing a set
You clearly havent been following burr for the last 5 or 6 yrs..
@Titus Telesco You don't realize it but you're the one who needs to grow up. It's normal and healthy to talk about your feelings and psychology. Especially in an interview when someone is asking you about your life, experiences, personal growth, etc.
“How did you figure yourself out?”
“Mushrooms”
I’ve never heard a response to a question happen that quickly
It's the truth. The grounded me
They force people to think about things they don't want to think about and really want change. What you do after that is up to you. But it can be a door opener.
Yeah, mushrooms are known to help some people, but it’s usually not this easy lol.. they usually don’t solve all your underlying psychological issues in one go lol
I’ve taken them before, but I’d be hesitant to take a large dose because my mind can be very chaotic. My last (and only) acid trip caused me to have paralyzing anxiety for about 30 hours after the trip (the trip itself wasn’t particularly good or bad).
it was lsd for me, and as with billyboi it was a good bad-trip that did it.
dmt for me. absolutely changed my life for the better
I love how Tom respected boundaries and wouldn't pry to much about what it specifically was that changed Bill's mindset.
Ya it's the worst when someone won't stop asking about ur shroom trip
@@gjatt7410 care to explain why?
@@abdelrahman9466 first, its like explaining a dream to someone. NO ONE GIVES A SHIT. It's never a fleshed out vision- it always fades as the person talks about their trip and it ends with "Idk, i forgot the rest." And second, it's not that interesting. It's only cool to the person that experienced it
He should have
It’s an interview technique to eat around the edges and make it awkward to not identify it; he kept coming back to it because he did want to talk about it.
I love the analogy of childhood traumas seeming like mountains in the mind, but with mushrooms you get some perspective - and it’s like stepping up onto a curb
More like standing on top of the mountains.
So fuckign amazing isn't? Same thing with MDMA, allows peoplet to view trauma safely, explore it, without feeling all the emotins that come along with it
Crazy how conservatives are so scared of plants that they can't accept how good a mushie trip can be

I've heard Bill say on past shows that he was scared to take shrooms for the longest time, it's good that he finally took the plunge, he seems more at peace.
Probably also good he waited. If he wasn't ready, he most likely would never have had a breakthrough experience.
I think he said he was scared to take it because he could get addicted to it. The thing is that mushrooms like lsd and other psychedelics is not addictive at all in fact it can cure addictions like nicotine and other stuff.
@@SaggyMarley addiction is addictive, not much more science to it than that desire i believe.

To make it a bit clearer for those who have never tried psychedelics... when you do Shrooms, Acid, Ecstasy...etc(all of which I've tried), they're all different, but they have inherently similar core sensations in that they allow you to step out of your mind and see yourself truly from an exterior perspective. It's fun and you feel woozy and high and all that, but if you let yourself fall deeply into it, it can truly be a cathartic experience as well.
It's like when someone says "it's hard to take your own advice", what they mean is pretty general amongst all people. We can look at the individuals around us and all their faults, and we can gather all the information and experience we've attained and formulate a solution that we believe would work toward helping them.
That's why friends tend to seek advice from eachother. It's not that your friend thinks that you're smarter than them, you're simply a fresh perspective on a problem they may be tackling and you might be able to find a solution that they, for the life of them, can't seem to figure out. And more often than not, it ends up being extremely simple, it's just that they can't traverse the interior of the issue the same way someone on the outside can.
We can go through our entire lives stuck in the mud, dealing with psychological problems that we have no idea how to deal with like Bill said, but for SOME of us(not all), when taking a psychedelic, it allows us to, for the first time, step out of ourselves, and see things that only OTHER people can see.
Here's a perfect example. Before the mirror was invented, the only way people could ever get a vague image of what their physical appearance was like was by looking down into a calm pool of water or a blurry image on a reflective material like polished metal, stone or glass... so for the vast majority of human existence, no one truly knew what they looked like unless they had a portrait made or looked into a reflective material or something, but it certainly wasn't the same as what individuals around you saw when they looked upon you.
This is the same thing only with the mind instead of they physical appearance. Right now there's no true "Mirror" that allows us to reflect our inner self, we can only rely on our own broken self image and the help of others to help us traverse our inner workings. Psychedelics allow you to temporarily escape this meat and bone prison and see all the issues that are just out of arms reach and if you're lucky you'll be able to see them in an entirely new light, which could help you evolve and grow as a person if you allow yourself to dive into the psychedelic experience with an open mind. It ALL relies on how open you are to succumbing to the experience.
Many people who have to be CONVINCED to try something, usually tend to lock themselves into reality and don't allow themselves to freefall and get the full effect. Contrary to popular belief, when you try psychedelics you don't completely lose your inhibitions, you're still aware, you simply take a backseat, but you're still very much in the car, so to speak. The question is are you going to be a control freak backseat driver, or will you sit back, relax, stare out the window and zone out. THAT'S the key.
well said mate

@@kattihatt - Now there's an opinion nobody gives af about.
Mushrooms taught me Perspective is where all the answers lie and most the time a person only has one perspective and are missing the other supporting ones.
So true
New perspective can only be gained if you physically move to a new position, psychedelics are a metaphorical mental version of changing or breaking your focus on thoughts. It's probably harder to create new neural pathways then it is to keep using established ones (it definitely requires more energy to forge a new path), i'm sure psychedelics can help make that process easier through stimulation of all or a much larger area of neurons, which helps get on a different path of thought to understand things you already know.
Though i think a lot of people waste this opportunity on spiritual shit!
@@Mike1Lawless wow, way to take a dump on everyone with your ignorance.
I having been describing a shroom trip similarly to that for a long time. I usually say" it's like having driven down the same mainstream highway your whole life and then finding a new route with a new perspective" It allows a way to compare thoughts and take the blinders off that block your ability to see alternatives. It makes you wise when you have alternate perspective to compare thoughts and ideas against each other as opposed to getting set in your ways and methods..

I only did shrooms a handful of times, but the bad trips always taught me more about myself than the good trips
I feel a similar way to acid, like the negative battles in your own head make you a better person.
Bad trips are totally necessary
I've only just done a handful a shoroomms...w
Indeed. A good trip is fun and happy go lucky, which is great. A bad trip usually entails a deep dive into the mind and for me it was always a battle with my ego
That’s what people say. Although bad trips can also wreck your mind if you have the wrong psychology.
"It was really frustrating to get emotionally supported." Love it.
This is honestly fascinating, comedians always seem to have such insights into life.
artists in general
Shrooms helped, but raising kids made me realise this. He is spot on. The realisation adds pressure, mostly good. But I know I'm doing "more" than my parents. .. There is some evolution here.
A lot of people in here pinning Bill’s new perspective all on shrooms. But I think he would acknowledge being a dad is a huge part of it.
I constantly remind myself of these kind of things while I have interactions with my kids. I remember vividly trying to show my Dad something on my Gameboy and my Dad couldn't care less, it's kid crap why would he care. My oldest is always trying to show me what is interesting to him and it is just as uninteresting as the stuff I tried to show my Dad. The difference is I listen and try to connect with my son with the things he is interested in. I just see myself sitting there with my Gameboy wanting to connect with my pops and never getting to and I won't have my son growing up thinking I don't care about what he is interested in or who he is.
@@rchenson9110 He has been a dad for quite a while now? He literally said himself he realized all this from 1 trip, which if you have tripped hard before you would know thats not unbeleivable in the slightest. Remember everyone, if you think you can fly while you're high, try to take off from the ground. Birds dont need to jump out of trees to fly
Don’t listen to this guy. To fly you need to a couple stories of air below you, otherwise the air won’t catch you. And you can only fly on acid, it loosens your hesitancy, frees your mind, allows you to do what’s impossible to sober.
Jk jk DONT JUMP, PEOPLE lol

Another example is if you might stumble into someone's campsite and spill there drink or say something innocent to someone's significant other and they fight you or something like that but I don't call a scary intense trip that isn't interfered with a bad trip you might not be ready for such a profound experience but most people come out better the more intense or "bad" the trip is.
