  • In this video, I talk about the Kodak Ektralite 10. This 110 camera is stupid simple to use and has no widgets or gizmos to help you make a pretty picture.
    So, if the picture sucks, it's all your own fault. I like that kind of challenge.

    3. Flip the power switch on top
    4. Open the shade on the front

    Hi there. I'm Chris. Film is more fun is a place where I share about whatever busted up old camera I'm currently shooting and tinkering with, or my meanderings in film photography. It would be pretty rad if you said what's up. I'm 99% friendly. Definitely do that. Disclaimer: If you want technical proficiency go watch 'The Art of Photography' (love that show). Super fun video! - I had one of these back in the 1970's & 80's it was my "party camera"! Not for real photography :o in those days we relied on the little FotoMat shacks to get developed and processed. - For "real" photography, I had an Olympus OM1 (all manual settings) & an OM2 (more automatic settings) with film that I developed and processed myself at a little shop in town. Love what you did here - showing how that little Kodak just couldn't see what our eyes see. Thanks for the flashback with some salt and pepper. :)

    The batteries and switch are only for the flash. This is an old school film camera and does not require any power to take a picture - you only need to turn the switch on if you want to use the flash in low light conditions. So, you can remove the electrical tape, take your pictures as you normally would, and just turn the switch on when you want to enable the flash in low light. If you think there may be something wrong with your switch, pull the batteries out and go shoot a roll of film with good lighting to test the function of the camera. Maybe, this camera is even more "SIMPLE" than first thought.

    I've been looking at my 110 cameras. I remembered enjoying them immensely. I did some work on mine recently - in particular resurrecting my Pocket Instamatic 60. 110 is so great due to its simplicity, but there are some technical gems as well.

      @@filmismorefun I just made a video on why I love 110, and it has nothing to do with the simplicity of loading.

    • @filmismorefun
      @filmismorefun  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, the size of the negative would be the biggest downside of 110 if you wanted to print large without any grain in your photos. But in my opinion, it's not always just about how 'clean out sharp' your photos can be. The experience while out shooting is a big part for me which makes 110 okay in my book. 🙂

    Hi Chris. Subscriber 4 here. Just stumbled across your channel while looking for Canon Demi videos. These are exactly the kind of videos/channels I like: a lighthearted, brief rundown of the camera, some quick specs and observations, and a video shoot with results. Maybe try and get a little closer view with the overheads and dig up the specs so you can talk about them in the video, rather than the comments That's my only criticism. I like that you shot a few into the sun, so we could see how it handled lens flare. Different lighting conditions are always a plus. Looking forward to more. Thanks.

    Thanks for this video. I appreciate you uploaded this almost 5 years ago now, but I've just recently started looking into the 110 format and your video was one of the ones I came across. It does appear tthese 'cheap' 110 cameras can take an ok picture provided you do it on a sunny day. Some other creators tried them on overcast days and the resulting picture quality is noticeably lower than what you and others achieved in good weather. I've just bought myself a Hanimex 110 TF (another low end, cheap camera of its time) on eBay which I plan to try out just for fun.

    I just found one of these for $3 at a thrift shop. I have other 110 cameras but this is the only one I have it's actually made by Kodak. Actually the on-and-off is just for the Flash. And I don't mind using a flash with 110 cameras especially this style because it's fairly far away from the lens it's still not flattering but it's better than a lot of point-and-shoot 35mm cameras I've used. If your flash is going off when the flash button off your camera is probably not working right or you've never tried. You could just take the batteries out. And if it does it just for film speed it does that mechanically by a tab on the film cartridge.

    Hey! So my film came today. Camera works fine and flashes with no film in it, however when I put the film in it doesn’t work! Can anyone help me. There is also a orange flashing while it’s on.

      This might be a silly question, but did you winding the shutter before pressing the button? It's not a fully automatic camera, so the shutter needs to be wound before every shot. It's a vertical lever that slides in.
