honestly seeing all of these pointed out I wonder why there hasn't really been a community effort to mod everything back to how it should be, i mean _surely_ it's gotta be possible one way or another and I'm a bit eager to learn how I could do it myself but maybe it's harder than I think
locked_dream beta I’d love to see the community try something like Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition, or the RE4 HD project. The DMC community does so much modding that I’m sure they’re capable of getting things spruced up, and in some cases they already have (there are fixes for Dante’s hair and certain other textures). That said we need these things fixed on as many platforms as possible. That’s why I’m a fan of the approach of pestering Capcom on social media.
yeah the best outcome is an official RE:HD Collection update fully authentic to the PS2 releases (+ maybe those cool switch features for dmc3 nudge nudge @capcom) but until anything officially happens our second best bet is to take the DSFix approach and then maybe they'd catch on
There is a mod called Devil may cry Textures HD that corrects many horrible textures of the game, Dante's hair and the horrible moon, but still lacks the flowering effect and depth of field, among other things.
Thank you for bringing these issues to light!! It's really disheartening to see so many in these 'HD' ports, which really feel like unnecessary changes or just plain laziness. Still holding out hope that all of these get fixed at some point in the future but I won't hold my breath. It would be interesting to see you do some videos on DMC2 as well as I'm sure the HD port of that game has just as many as 3 and 1 seem to have. Regardless, all of your videos on 3 and 1 have been great so far and I look forward to seeing more content from you in the future. :)
Another thing I noticed the other day is that in some cutscenes, Dante's hair actually looked like it did in the PS2 version, but then in game it reverts back to solid chunks with no translucency I don't even get how that happens tbh And it's only some cutscenes also
It's so sad. I also noticed that the subtitles in all games are shifted due to the wide screen. In the original, they are on a black background and do not overlap the image.
I don't understand the demon portal being screwed up, especially because they retained its look entirely in the ps3/360 ports (cutscene still looks terrible), but messed it up completely in the later ports to PC and other consoles. There's a mod on PC that fixes the cutscene look to it's original state, but the only mod that even attempts to fix the in-game appearance is only passable. It basically transforms the flat texture with more bloom (I think?) with glow effects, but the black swirls around the entire eye are still missing. I really wish there was a mod out there to restore the in-game eye. It looks incredible in the original HD collections.
Hey Catbus due to this, do you think that the OG port of 2006 for PC is better than the two versions of HD collection? I own the OG port in steam and with just downloading some mods for screen adjusting, style switcher (comes with a little graphic overhaul)and man I love how it feels so PS2 but with 60 fps, so nice and crisp. I truly believe the graphics in the so called ugly PC port of DMC3 is the superior version. What's your point of view? Wanna know
@@luvbug839 There's a big list of things and I probably don't know all of them but off the top of my head they somehow screwed up the physics when it comes to some things, the protoman blaster sent enemies flying in the original causing them to ragdoll and collide with other objects in the environment, in the PS4 version they just fall over dead as soon as they are hit, picking up zombies and throwing them is broken, they fall straight down right in front of your feet when you throw them, if you play co-op chuck's field goal melee move on a lying down zombie has the same problem with the zombie head rolling a little past where it was after being kicked and not doing what it's supposed to. There's probably more but the protoman blaster and throwing zombies alone ruined the game for me as these were some of the most fun things to do in the game. One other thing I noticed is you can give the protoman blaster to survivors and I distinctly remember that being patched out of the PS3 version soon after release which leads me to believe they used an unfinished or at the very least unpatched build of the game to port it, this might explain the other issues with the physics as I never actually played the PS3 game unpatched I only heard of being able to give protoman gun to survivors on forums and I know it was no longer possible after the patch. There is also a strange glitch with melee attacks not tracking properly with some weapons, for example the super sledge has a downward smash while jumping and sometimes the game will turn you up to 45 degrees left or right when performing it for no reason and will keep doing it until you reload, I can't remember if that was an issue in the original but if it was it's worse here.
I know it a wishful thinking, but i'm hoping capcom fixes all of the bloom and texture effects along with all of trial version's hair and coat physics, sparks when dante does helm breaker and quick drive just like DMC4. I played both the trial and HD versions of DMC3 and trial version is more fun and replayable than HD collection. Wish capcom consider these in their remaster of the game if there will be one. What are your thoughts on this catbus?
I’d love for all of that to come to pass! I feel like the fact that they added style switching and co-op to DMC3 on Switch is a sign they’re taking a look at what kind of things people want in their ports of games. Comparatively, I feel there’s hardly been any noise made over the years for anything you just mentioned, sadly. I just can’t see them adding Trial ver. features or restoring the PS2 visuals anytime soon. We’re probably reaching a point where Capcom feels they can only justify releasing these games again as full remakes/overhauls, or something. They no longer bother to keep the original RE trilogy in circulation now that they all have remakes. That gives you a glimpse of their attitude. There’s not really a good way to ‘directly’ send feedback to Capcom nowadays, you kind of just have to get everyone talking about something to the point that they can’t miss it, I suppose. It’s a shame, you used to be able to directly interact with their US staff on Capcom Unity on a regular basis and get direct answers/results.
The only thing I want, is a perfekt Devil May Cry 1 remake, without losing the atmosphere/the visuals of the PS2 version. Why is it so hard Capcom? WHY???
@AlexxShadenk777 Where does DMC3 have motion blur then? What instances? Because I don't see it. I agree on DMC1, the only part where motion blur takes effect is whilst shooting your guns mid-air, or doing combos like million stab, and also running in DT.
You're way too underrated as a youtuber
That’s very sweet of you. I hope to keep improving.

gotta find all the problems first to fix them...though it could also be how the game is coded most ps2 games were nightmares apparently

@@joewillvega2974 It also takes a lot of liberties with the original textures, but it shows how much can be done with the tools we have, at least.
DMC4 vs DMC4SE

Yes, more catbus :D
Complains about DMC HD collection differences and then abandons the channel. What an absolute legend.
I will never stop complaining.

Hi, I love your in depth comparison.
Will you ever do more PS3 HD remaster comparisons?
So in short, Capcom hates bloom apparently.
i am glad that i still playing the ps2 version
Also what about characters teeth transparency issue in the HD collection? And are you also going to talk about the Switch ports?

Does Dmc4 se has these big difference s?
Nothing big like DMC1 and 3.
I think people who made the remake thought the motion blur was annoying and I can tell they were kinda lazy with some of the animations too
What motion blur? Depth of field is not motion blur. Also, all the animations are fine, that's not even the problem here.
