  • Hey all, as of now there are limited props APC makes that directly fit a trolling motor, so in this video I show you how to make almost any RC prop fit a minn kota trolling motor (55lb or below). NOTE : for Minn Kota make sure you order a pusher prop.... so that way you're not going into reverse when you choose a forward speed. I've ordered some props and as soon as I get them in and look them over and test them, I'll put them below, I dont want to miss lead any of you into purchasing a prop that I know won't work for you.... as of now, the only prop I know that works well for both the 55lb and 30lb is the 10X5M-LH here is a link to it. I've received a few props in today and a few were very flimsy....

I'm working with APC to put this prop on Amazon for easier ordering (and a little $ in my associates acct..lol)
    Hope this video helps you

So what's the prop you ultimately think best for 55lb-86lb thrust motors?
*My sisuation's a bit different. I'll be using one 55lb and one 86lb trolling motor (vevor and newport) on my 27 foot sailboat. The sailboat runs great off a 4hp gas motor, so i suspect it'll do just fine with this combo. But want to make sure to get the right props for the job. So which size prop ended up working out best for you?

Drilling the prop this way will make the prop unbalanced. By with a regular drill will make the hole no longer precisely center as manufactured therefore it will cause vibration. It will work but I'm sure the vibration is there. You might not feel it but it's there. The correct way to drill the pro and keep the hole centered is to have it lathe mill or professionally drilled by a machine shop.

I agree, this was mainly just for fun, and as light as these props are, I don't think it be much of an issue

For a 55lb Minn Kota, what is the Amp Draw difference between the 10-5 vs 10-7? Is the speed difference appreciable enough to justify the higher current? Do you find the lower pitch 10-5 more efficient than the stock OEM prop? Thank you for your work and video! Cheers

I would recommend the 10X5m-lh, worked great for both my 30 and 55lb thrust

@codyakfishing8856 what a fast reply! Bless you and your channel! Shall I expect to modify all of them or not the marine ones?

@@SaltWaterBassTv no the 10X5m-LH should be a direct fit, as long as the shaft is 3/8 in diameter, and thanks, I wanted to head out today to test some more props but there's a bug going around and I can't shake it....lol

Why do this if there's ones that are a direct fit?

This is mainly for those who want to try different diameters and pitch, since there's only a few that are a direct fit as of now
