In this DCS F-15E Strike Eagle video, we will use everything that we learned in the previous lessons to conduct an air-to-air engagement. More videos soon.
@@major_kukri2430 not only is the APG-70 very powerful, RazBam use their API that simulates the waves being physically sent, bouncing back, and getting received by the radar. Currently only the Mirage 2000C has this tech in DCS.

Yea this looks like the radar is rather fleshed out for a/a already looks great and I can’t wait to feel the strike eagle I love how every module has a feel to it.
The TWS mode is following the targets! That's nice! I don't really like the manual mode of TWS in the F-18. Auto mode is just better, and you don't spend time clicking on extra buttons. Also the range is great :) as expected for a F-15E from what I gathered.
There is a toggle to make the TWS radar follow targets in the hornet. Middle PB on the right side of the MFD you have your radar on in TWS mode. You can bind that MFD pushbutton to a hotas button.
@@audunskilbrei8279 Yes I try to use it too but it's really a lot more clicky than the F-16 for example. Especially since you have to press it twice : first time for engagement and the second time to go back to manual and avoid the dreaded bias mode.
@@rakedos9057 agreed. Viper is definitely more intuitive. But then the hornet has the az/el page which can be really helpful for SA. Always pros and cons.

Can your next video please be the HOTAS so we know what you are doing when you say things like "TDC in". It's hard to build that mental picture without anything to relate it to.
well, the TDC is a depressible joystick, it typically sits on the throttle and is used to move the cursor on the rdr display and when depressed can acquire a/a targets, in the hornet for example, it can also be used for the targetting pod and depressing it can set the location of ur crosshair as a target (tdc btw means throttle designator controller) if you have any other questions about HOTAS buttons shoot them my way and i’ll do my best to answer them!
Yes, watch the beginning of the part 2. If you Quick-step, it will slave the cursor to the target, so it follows it and you get data on the target on the top left. Pretty neat!
The little dot jumping is (I think) the Steering Dot that you place inside the bigger circle (Allowable Steering Error Circle) for a shot in order to have a good angle. I think it's jumping all around because the targets are really far. It should be cleaner the closer they get.
First of all, this looks great, and I will no doubt get it. What I'm not a fan of is pre-ordering with an extremely loose and undefined release date. 'Within the next few months, maybe sooner' is the line from ED. I'm not paying money for something without a definitive release date. That isn't 'pre-ordering'. It's paying for something when you've no idea when it'll arrive. I'm also not a fan of how you plan to add functions to the F15 mirroring the actual development of the jet. Why can't you just add everything that the jet uses, that's available in DCS, upon release? I accept that certain features such as the AI, sniper pod et al would of course need to be added later. I know what I sign up for when getting something 'early access'. It seems a little disingenuous to intentionally hold things back. Unless there is a valid reason for it. Not a fan of how you are choosing to go about that. So whilst I'll certainly get it, I certainly won't be rushing to 'pre-order' tomorrow. It's a fool's errand. Regards.
you know how you can tell a good pilot? they retreat after they get some work done, so they live to fight another day! or to put some distance and then turn back to go kill the rest!
Idk if it's THAT big of a deal. I expect a well-flown F-15C will still be the devil's own job to shoot down, given it should have similar radar performance and significantly superior energy performance. The F-16 is a bit radar limited but once it can see you it's an enormous threat as well.
So ... to get to TWS you first have to STT at least one target? So that means that at least one of the targets is going to get a heads up/warning that a 15 is looking at them as their RWR will scream at them that they are locked ... until the 15 switches over to TWS? That doesn't seem like a great method or transitioning to another radar mode. Not sure what the avionics engineers were thinking when they designed that system. You are basically giving them a warning that they are being locked up and he's probably going to go defense to prep for the missile you are about to shoot (or he will at least be wary and be keeping an eye in your direction).
A month or two ago, I was in the same state. But they did a good job at bringing the Mirage to a very good shape (ground radar for example) and they seems to follow that with the F-15E. Some of the tweet about the F-15E showing stuff under the hood are quite nice. Also, it's the F-15E so I think they will put even more effort because it's a more popular aircraft.
Well if you would show, what buttons/Hotas buttons you press... ideally on the screen or in the controls menu and/or list it below, it would significantly improve your "Tutorials".... since you are hard to understand and correct yourself about 20 x in one video, it is more confusing then everything else. Without those informations, people cannot recreate what you have done, as soon as the module becomes available. There are tons of tutorials of very good tutorial content creator, which make it much easier to understand. So an improvement in this regard would be highly appreciated. Otherwise your tutorials are just completely useless, especially for those who are not that expierienced in dcs!!!
luckily we will get a manual to reference/study, so you can use this video to see what it would look like while understanding what you have previously read
aahahah realy accurate of course! the An/APG-73 (if mathematics is not an opinion it should be better) you have on the f18 if it can see anything beyond 30nm you're in luck....
Although the APG-73 most likely underperforms currently, the APG-70 is a bigger and more powerful radar, which translates to greater detection range. So no, the -73 is not better.
